Played 36 on 10-31-16 on an underpar voucher joining a nice threesome for the first round and finishing in a little over 3 1/2 hours and playing as a single for my second round and finishing at about three hours with a little waiting on the last three holes. Tee boxes were in good shape, semi lush and mostly level except for the three pars which were crowned. Fairways were in nice shape a little long with very little roll out and some minor thin areas. Rough was long and thick with some bare spots mostly around the greens. Was in one fairway bunker which was very firm and designated as a waste area, and one greenside bunker which had nice firm sand. Greens were in pretty good shape, a little on the soft side but rolling smooth at about a 10. They do have some issues with animals tearing up some parts of the fairways and rough. Overall course is in really nice shape.

Played today as part of a 36 hole day with a golf moose deal for $82 for 2 people plus an extra $10 to play before 12. Our tee time was 740 and we got out right away in the middle of a Dust Storm. Wind was blowing about 20-30mph with gusts that can almost knock you over. My Playing Partner was wearing a white shirt and it was brown by the end of the day. every shot that hit the rough made a mini dust cloud which made it easy to see where you landed. It wasn't a big deal until the back nine as it was with the wind. This was fun because my 6 iron was going about 245 and my driver was flying about 350-360. one par five was 535 yards and I was about 150 out for my second shot. Nothing like driver/ gap wedge for a par five which I eagled.

Course was in decent shape but as noted in the previous review it is showing signs of the summer. A little rough around the edges bust mostly in good shape.

Tee's- tee's where a highlight and had great coverage and plenty of fresh grass to hit from with no divot damage

Fairways- there is a lot of grass to find and about 5-10 percent with a little die off due to watering issues.

Greens- Due to the wind the greens were very dried out and running really fast. They were Looking in great and very soft but tough to read in the wind. I dont think I saw any greens with divot issue which was nice.

Sand- This was the low point of the course as the sand was not in great shape on the fairway bunkers and had lots of rocks plus a few had standing water.

In all this is the better of the two courses in my opinion but I Highly recommend playing here.

This is the first time I had been out to Morongo and it's a really cool set-up/facility. You can tell it was formerly a PGA facility because the practice area, clubhouse, everything are set up to host big events. Although I only got there about 15 minutes before my tee time it would be a cool place to hang out and practice if you have the time (or don't live almost 2 hours away!).

It wasn't too crowded and the starter, cart guy and pro shop attendent were all really courteous and friendly. There's definitely a genuine vibe around the place which I really appreciate. The marshall came around a few times and when we saw him on the 11th he thanked me for coming out and playing, which I thought was super cool.

As for the course, I really, really liked the layout. We played the white tees which was a bit shorter than what I'm used to at 5800 yards, but I still found the place interesting, which says a lot. You really get the opportunity to hit all the clubs in the bag here and definitely have to think your way around, not just get up and rip it. I could see playing here multiple times, from different tees and just having a great time.

As for the condition of the course, it was a bit rough around the edges. I would say that the fairways are in need of quite a bit of water/work as I continually found burnt out and brown areas that would definitely be marked GUR if it was a tourney. I have to believe it doesn't help that it's been so hot and water is tough to come by, but they could definitely use some TLC.

By far the highlight of the course was the greens. I thought they were awesome. They held shots beautifully, rolled true and at about 10.5 (my guess). If you were missing putts it wasn't the fault of the surfaces, these are fantastic!

The tees were another highlight of the course, although the Par 3s continually have huge mounds in them. It's so strange. They could use a good leveling that's for sure. I don't know how the blue tees are, but the whites were pretty sloped.

The rough out here can be BRUTAL! It wasn't as long and as lush as I could imagine, but man, that's some sticky stuff. I could see that if they let it go just a little, hitting it off the fairway is a half to full shot penalty. Sometimes it was just trying to get the ball advanced.

This is a fun course and one I'll be back to again in the future (next time I'll play 36 and both tracks to make the drive a little more bearable). If you play anytime soon, be ready for awesome greens and maybe agreeing to winter rules with regards to the fairways, as you're bound to get some sketchy lies. Other than that, big fan of Morongo Legends and at $35 on a weekend, that's a great value!

Played 5-30-16. Course is really looking good. Just a few complaints. We played the white tees and many of them were so torn up it was hard to find a decent spot to tee. The bunkers were mostly hard packed but a few were loose fluffy sand. The carts ,though they at least they have GPS still are constantly changing speed. Sometimes in the middle of the fairway it would suddenly ding and say 12 MPH speed limit. Then there are the ad's. Between every hole there were 2 to 3 promo screens and it was frustrating trying to get back to the course.
The good stuff; the fairways were in good shape. Some were a bit hard but the coverage was good. The rough was rough. 3 to 5 inches. Sometimes making it hard to find the ball just off the fairway. Greens were running a bit slow but rolled true. Just had to be firm. Always a fun time playing here. Great practice facility and good food as well.

Saw the cart girl multiple times per round. Once nice thing was the drink prices were very fair. Not amusement park/sports stadium captive pricing. $2.50 for a bottle of soda. Enjoyed a between rounds meal also, that was tasty.

Would not hesitate to go out here again even though it is a 70 minute drive.

When I stood in it I couldn't see the tops of my sox. This was beyond US open stuff. I lost 8 balls in the rough simply 'cos I couldn't find them unless I got lucky and stood on them. Even then, there was virtually no way to advance the ball. Not sure if they had some sort of tourney going on, but they need to make this workable for average golfers and get the mowers out there. Or buy some cows and let them feast.

Not fun.

Played yesterday at 7am as the first part of a double header with a few buddies of mine. We used the GK coupon for 55. We did want to pay the 27 replay rate and play champions but there was a tournament going out on legends and champions would have been 3 hrs before we could get out so we went to Soboba Springs which is 20 miles from there.

We got to the course right about 630 hit a small bucket (not included) and went to the tee. We were fist out which is awesome to have no wait on this beautiful course. Course was in pretty good shape for us being in a drought. I have seen the course in pristine condition but it looks like the water restriction have made then choose where to water wisely.

Staff was very nice and we didnt have an issue other than we wanted to get some breakfast burritos but the snack bar didnt open until 8am which is weird for a weekend. Luckily they took our order over the phone a delivered them around the 8th hole. Props for offering that.

The tee boxes were in ok shape it seems that the minor league LPGA tournament the week before has done some damage to the tees as they were tore up on the par 3's.

Fairways were 90 percent lush with a few areas that are not prime landing areas were not watered as much. Still it was mostly green

Rough here has always been tough. They did keep the immediate 5ft from the fair ways lush and 3 different lengths. Fist cut was about an inch to inch and a quarter. 2nd cut was a more penalizing 3 inches and the rest was at least 5 inches deep which is quite an issue if you miss the fairway. I had a few shots roll though the fairway to never be found again which is frustrating but hey its golf. I had 3 shots that I saw bounce and stop but when I got to the area I could not find the ball. They do have some varmint hole issues on the Par 3 8th hole which were about 10ft from the green and could swallow your golf ball to never be seen again.

As for the greens they were amazing rolled medium/fast and no signs of damage, id hope not being the first ones out. As the day went on and the temps went up it got harder to hold a shot as the greens dried out. still very nice tough.

Sand - i was only in the sand twice and it was early in the morning so they were wet and very hard to get under the ball but that is expected in the morning .

Played 12/31 using an Underpar unlimited play coupon. Strong winds all day but had to use it or lose it.

Staff was friendly and helpful, snack bar girl let me use my soda coupon for a small hot chocolate between rounds. Was scheduled for 8:00 and got out at 8:08. 3 groups on #1 was a bad sign but this cleared up quickly, POP was just over 4 hours.

Conditions were pretty good for this time of year - some patchy and brown spots in fairways but generally good coverage with very few thin spots. Rough was pretty inconsistent (but definitely a factor when you found it), sand was mostly good (couple bunkers were really hard/crusty but the rest were good), tees were level and only the par 3s showed a lot of wear. Greens were supposedly running a 10.5 but didn't play it, seemed more like a 9-9.5 at most - ball mark damage was a little less than what I would call "average" but still too many unrepaired.

Good news is the Tribe has purchased some new equipment for the course, specifically 2 rollers for the greens. They want to get them back to the smooth and fast conditions from 2+ years ago - I highly approve of the move and will be back in a few months to see how that works out.

If you can get a decent rate I would recommend the course (same for Champions, review upcoming).
