I meant to post this review a week and a half ago when I played on Friday, 5/15/2015, using an Underpar.com deal before it expired. I played this course upon finishing the Champions course. I started my round here at 2:30 p.m. as a single. I caught a threesome at the turn and joined them for the remainder. This course and the Champions course are the greenest, lushest courses I have seen in Southern California in years. Water and the drought seem to not be an issue here. There was no areas of distressed turf or bare areas. Greens ran fairly fast and were firm enough despite the rain. I would definitely play this course again in the future. It seems a little more isolated than the Champions course.

Played 5-21-15 with Nickesquire for 36 once in the morning and again later in the afternoon. Course is in real good shape. Tees were lush and level except for the three pars which were all slightly crowned. Fairways were very lush with great lies. Rough was 1-3 inches in in great shape. Sand traps were a little thin but not to bad. Greens looked great and held there lines well but were very slow.

Played the blues (6394/71.0/128) with RGM2525 & Brando in 3h, 45m on an overcast weekday morning. We all had $43 to play AD vouchers, so we did. Ended up playing the Legends 18 twice, first in the morning and again in the late afternoon. Carts have advanced GPS where you can check yardages to bunkers etc. This would be a very challenging course to walk, numerous tees were a hike from the last green. First times I played this course. Not an overly tight layout, but you cannot miss most fairways here by much without bringing lost ball bushes & native overgrowth into play. Overall this is a very solid, fun course in excellent to near immaculate condition except for the par 3 tees. Speaking of the tees, a mixed bag. Most of the par 4/5 tees were lush and well maintained. Most of the par 3 tees were smaller, more humpbacked and generally in mediocre condition with lots of divots. The fairways were lush, very well maintained. The rough was plenty tall & especially thick to catch even shorter irons, but not ridiculously high. Immaculately maintained & penal would be a good description. When the ball sat up, it was good to hit out of. But on the more times than not occasions when the ball settled down, it was whack a short iron out and get it back in play time. The waste bunkers were hard packed and usually dirt, the ones I was in did not have sand. The sand traps were very well maintained. The large poa annua greens were firm, generally smooth and medium speed, the sign said 9.5. With as firm as they were, you would have expected them to be faster. They putted nice, but a little faster would have been desirable. The green complexes were well designed with mounds, slopes and contours to challenge you whether you were on or off the greens. Complimentary range balls and a cart were part of the More Golf Today voucher I purchased several months ago. We got in 54 holes, averaging 3h, 45m per round including time in between to check in, change carts etc. The customer service was excellent. No hassles, everything was great. Highly recommend for a well maintained, challenging, fun layout.

Had a tee time for 12 today and got there about 1030. hit a small bucket and went to the starter to see if i could sneak out. he paired me with a 2some and we were off. The course was in great shape today a little muddy here and there due to the rain yesterday but nothing you cant handle. Fairways were in immaculate shape very lush and cut to the perfect height. not much roll one the ball hits but thats due to the excess water from the rain. Green were very difficult to approach, if you did not hit it high it was not gonna stick, very firm. This being said the rolled true and fast no more than the average jerks that dont fix their marks but overall top notch. rough was showing signs of the drought as they dont water it as much as the fairways but still good. I was not in the sand all day but as my partners were saying good sand but wet. Cant beat this course for value golf now regularly has them at 35-50 if you pay attention.

While heading out to La Quinta, I stopped to play the Legends course early on a Thursday morning. Cloudy, cool, and some wind that day, and from the Blacks it was a true test of golf. The course meanders through the canyons of Beaumont, only a few homes dot the course. Some spacing between holes make this a difficult walk, I took a cart for $49 (senior rate). Round took 4 hours at a leisurely pace, some nice scenery to take in. Some holes are target golf but most fairways are forgiving ... going outside the fairway boundaries means a lost ball (some red stakes parallel to the fairways so take a look before you take a provisional) so you have to keep the ball in play or a whipping will ensue. Even being in the rough today meant bogey unless your short game is in tune.

Conditions today were longer, semi-shaggy grass in fairways and 3" deep rough (I was out in front of the mowers). The greens were medium speed and with predictable reads, slow up hill. Never had a bad lie, bunkers a bit heavy and damp, packed sand.

I did enjoy the layout and would play here again if it wasn't such an insane drive to get here. Oh yeah, this is the place to be if you like trains ... they go by about every 10 minutes. And I mean big, strong locomotives that you can hear and feel to the core.

I had a GroupGolfer voucher about to expire so I headed out here today. I had booked a tee time for 10:00 am when there was only a single available, but maybe the other three canceled afterward or something because they had me slated to go out all by myself. I was fine with that and actually ended up loving it. I was behind a foursome until they let me play through on No. 7, and then had no one in front of me the rest of the round. I took my time, taking a bazillion photos along the way but still finished in 3:40. Conditions are mixed right now, although visually the course looks amazing. The greens are two weeks out of aeration and definitely still show it. They are a bit sandy and bumpy in spots and quite firm. The fairways were good and lush in most spots, although sort of uneven in places. The rough is probably the best conditioned part of the course – lush, sticky and deep! The tee boxes were just good. The bunkers were really a mixed bag. Fairway bunkers mostly seem to be hard and have some rocks in them, and then greenside bunkers are a blend of either being totally fine or having big puddles in them. With no recent rain, I have no idea why so many bunkers had standing water in them. Luckily I was not in any of those. Actually all the bunkers I was in played fine. I had only played this course one other time and I remembered liking it quite a bit, but wow did I love it today. Schmidt-Curley did such an outstanding job integrating the beautiful natural terrain and giving so many different options on a number of holes. The par-5 second is a fantastic hole with a hazard running down the middle, forcing the player to choose whether to traverse the hazard to set up a short approach or stay to the right and go for the green in two, which necessitates a blind shot over a small hill. Holes 5-8 are all phenomenal and gorgeous, especially the par-3 eighth that feels like a little oasis far removed from civilization. On the back, 10 is a short par 5 with some fantastic bunkering surrounding the green. Holes 12-14 are all great, as is 16. No. 18 is probably great, too, but I'm not sure I love the fact the preferred landing area is not in view from the tee box. First the practice area is very nice, I'd rate it a 7/10. It's a big downhill range (which isn't my preference, but not a big deal) with plenty of room to hold 30-40 people. They offer fairway & greenside bunkers to practice from, so that's a nice perk. The putting green is very representative of the course, but I'd like more flat areas to hit to.

This course is a true "Out" and "In" course. After the first hole, you won't see the clubhouse until 18, so don't expect to grab anything at the turn. Speaking of that first hole, it's a downhill, downwind 330 yard tee shot that if you can fly it about 250, you'll have an outside shot of putting for eagle. Very fun way to start the round. The entire front nine is basically downwind (assuming prevailing WNW winds) and you better score well because the back nine is brutal. #11 is a 460 yd par 4 that was a true 3 shot hole when I played.

The course is in great condition. Greens are quite firm, but they are smooth and true. No obvious areas of concern on the fairways and the rough is average length and not too penalizing. POP was quite slow for the front 9, but a ranger showed up on #10 and helped us play though an elderly foursome, Overall we finished right at 4 hours (1:30 on the back).

Overall a very good course that is perfectly priced. Will definitely be making the drive back out here.

Weather was cold for the most part with slight wind. dress in layers as the temp will vary throughout your round. Greens were firm and shots tend to roll off the greens. Bunkers were bare minimum with very little sand. they have new carts from the last time we played here (years ago). They had grass driving range, putting and chipping area avail for warmup/practice. Staff excellent. After the round, we stopped by the bar and had drinks and snacks. Ron (our server) was really great and took care of us. Definitely recommended.

I played my first ever round here on Monday 12/8 using a pre-paid GolfNow HotDeal and $10 promo for only $25 - quite a deal for such a nice facility. Check in was super easy - got my cart, a small bucket of balls and went to the driving range. The all grass range was nice, but all tee positions were very chewed up - it was difficult to find any clean area from which to hit - only a minor complaint, as I didn't expect the range to be open according to their posted maintenance closure schedule. After hitting range balls, I warmed up my putter on one of several practice greens.

The weather was awesome for an early December morning - around 70 degrees, with light wind from the east, and scattered high clouds making for stunning views in all directions.

I headed to the first tee at 10:15AM, about 7 minutes ahead of my reserved tee time. The starter was friendly and talkative, and informed me of the days pin placements. I waited as a group of three teed off, then I took the tee alone right on schedule. After I hit my first tee shot out of bounds, I went to my cart to retrieve a second ball, and another player pulled up and asked if he could join. Interestingly, the player was a gentleman with whom I had played about a month earlier at El Prado. We had to wait briefly on nearly every tee shot, and on most approach shots, but pace of play was fine at 4 hours.

Except for hole #4 where the tee box was very thin and chewed up, tee boxes were generally level with lush grass and some divots. Fairways were in fine shape overall, with lush grass, and only a few muddy areas left over from the rain storm the previous week - all of my fairway lies were perfect. Rough was fairly uniform (about 1 to 2 inches thick, but not too penal), with no bare spots. Bunkers were a mixed bag, mainly due to mud/water from the storm the previous week. However, the only bunker from which I had to play had good clean sand. Greens were in good shape, held well hit shots, and were quite interesting with undulations and multiple tiers. These greens require that you leave approach shots and chips below the hole for best scoring chances. They rolled true at medium speed, but were a little shaggy. Only the final green (which is next to a lake) had any coots, and their droppings made quite the mess there. Happily, there were very few unrepaired ball marks.

The course marshal made his appearance known on several occasions, but always with a courteous smile and a wave. Drinks and snacks were available as the cart made 3 different passes.

On the front nine, the wind was generally helping, and seemed to increase as we neared the turn. The ninth hole was into the wind, and most of the back nine played into wind.

I would recommend playing this course, and look forward to trying the Champions course, the second in this 36-hole facility.
