Played Redhawk today on a breezy and cooler day this afternoon teeing off at approximately 1 o’ clock. Driving Range is closed for renovations and I stopped at Temecula Creek to hit a few warm balls. Played the blue/white combination with Vince, Mark & Misako which made for a very enjoyable round. The course is doing lots of improvements now as evidenced with some heavy equipment on some of the holes. I didn’t remember much about this course especially having not played it in the last 10 years. Check in was very easy got the key to the cart and off we went, carts are very basic with no GPS. Tee boxes were mostly level with a few a little uneven. There was a group in front of us but we never really waited. Fairways were very nice and green and saw no bare or thin lies which made it very playable. Rough not to existent with the exception of a few creeks with very little water in them. Bunkers nice and compact as I almost holed a few. Greens are recovering nicely from punching a few weeks ago and are a little bumpy but not much and still have some speed to them. To me the course is very playable and has some elevation on a few holes all which made it very fun to play. The course is in nice shape now and I definitely would play it again. Definitely recommended..

First time playing here. Let's say up front that the course needs a little bit of TLC. Its not terrible but a little run down around the edges. The course was for the most part in decent shape. Fun lay out. Greens have some damage. Fairways were in good shape. Tee boxes were fairly level. The staff was super friendly and pleasant which goes a long way. Pace of play was excellent.

All I have to say is the owner or management co of Redhawk should wear a mask and not because of covid, because they are RIPPING people off for charging full price for this DUMP. I have played Redhawk for years and have NEVER seen it in horrible shape like today (09-10-21j. I hadn’t play the course for several month but decided to give it a try. Tee’d off at 0640 so the pace of play was great but that was the only good thing.

If you like playing on greens that are running around an 4 or you practice on shag carpet you’ll be okay. More that half the greens are mud. The rough averages about a foot and a half high so if the maintenance staff ever cuts it there properly a million gold balls in there.

Redhawk used to be a must play course in the Temecula valley. Fortunately I live near enough to the course that I wasn’t totally pissed at drive there but if you are from out of town, I would save $70 bucks and play somewhere else.

Early Saturday afternoon round on a not too busy day finishing in four hours. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. They shut down the food/beverage services before five though? The carts are very nice but do not have any gps. The tee boxes all had good coverage and are almost all level. The rough is thick enough to lose a ball in with the grass clippings piled up on several of the holes. The fairways all had very good coverage with some spots here and there that were burnt out or soggy. The head of maintenance has told me they are battling with the irrigation issues so look for that to improve. The traps were for the most part all well maintained with rakes in all but many golfers not having the courtesy to use THEM. The greens which are usually the highlight were disappointing. There were a few greens that had patchwork turf and dead or diseased sections. The speed was slower than usual and the turf seemed very thin for some reason? They held shots well but were a little bumpy and not breaking as they have in the past. The afternoon rates are fair for the conditions but it would be difficult to pay the morning rack rate presently.

Early morning round in a little over four hours. They have moved their tee times to ten minute intervals which had helped with the pace of play. The staff is good and the carts as well but no gps. The tee boxes were all level but a couple were slightly sloped and most needed to be mowed. The rough was very thick for the most part and about 3-6" of damp green grass. At times shots could be hit from the rough if you could locate your ball. The traps were all very well groomed and most had adequate sand but many were wet. The fairways were all very tight with dormant bermuda but were not dried out. The tight bermuda provided for good roll also. The greens were punched on Monday and were all quite bumpy and slow for this course. The greens will probably need a couple weeks to get back to their usual quick smoothness. The rates had been discounted this week which made the course worth a round. The regular rack rates are a bit high for the area in comparison to other courses. I always enjoy playing here and suggest others give it a try.

Played Redhawk on 2/24/21. I had not been here since 2007, so I was excited to get back.

Conditions are iffy right now. In general, greens were nice. A couple of them did have major bare spots, but the holes were well away from that (except for one green where it was not avoidable. Several greens have different levels, and if you are on the wrong side of a ridge you will be 3 or 4 putting. Tee boxes and rough were good for winter.

Fairways - my usual rant. Bare dirt with a minimal layer of green/brown grass lying horizontally on top of the dirt. Maybe I need to start skipping the practice range mats and just hit my wedges off of the cement. As soon as I got on #1 fairway and saw what was coming, I tried to keep all iron shots > 100 yards as trying to hit a wedge off of these things was more risky than going for the island green.

Maybe I am just spoiled having San Clemente Muni as a home course. There if you hit the fairway, your ball actually sits on grass. You don't see the dirt underneath.

If you like your driver to roll, Redhawk definitely gives you that. My normal 250-260 drive would go an extra 20-30 yards here. However, even from the 6750 tees, I would say on half of the holes, a 280 drive is too much, as you will roll through fairways.

I really enjoyed the layout, it is a fun course. Conditions...meh. Greens are good enough that I would return if I was local, but being an hour away I'd lean to other options in the area.

Played here on 12/22 with a group of guys. Had a good little WOLF match. I hadn't played at RedHawk since earlier this summer when it was about 104 degrees out and the course was dry. I was excited to get back here but was severely disappointed upon arrival.

DETAILS: We arrived about 30 minutes prior to our 9:50 tee time and checked in at the pro shop. Process was a breeze and the shop staff was fairly quiet. Headed outside to check-in with the starter and he informed us that they had a 90 minute frost delay earlier that morning and that we wouldn't be teeing off for awhile. BRUTAL!! The fact that no email was sent, phone call was made or someone in the shop didn't alert us prior to the starter breaking the news is unacceptable. As someone who works in a golf shop, communication is a key part to the customer experience and the communication was suffering at RedHawk that day. Anyways...about the course, the tee boxes (8/10) were in decent shape and flat for the most part. The fairways (6/10) were dry, thin and playing very firm. The rough (5/10) was dormant and not very long or consistent. I was only in two bunkers (7/10) all day and both were good. The greens (5/10) weren't consistent from a firmness/softness standpoint. We had a stick in our group and some holes the ball would juice back 10-15 feet and other holes the ball was holding. He became frustrated as it was a guessing game on how his ball would react. Also several greens were patchy and missing grass in many different areas.

CONCLUSION: This course has one of the best designs in the inland empire but I was not impressed with the communication or the condition the course was in. I'll play elsewhere the next time I travel out to the Temecula area.

Early HOT Sunday afternoon round in four hours. The staff here has always been great. The tee boxes were all in good shape with nice coverage. The rough was just thick and long enough to hold up offline shots. Hitting out of the rough was not too difficult once you found your balls. The fairways all had good coverage with a few hot spots here and there from the heat. There was enough cushion in the bermuda that allowed for easy fairway shots. The traps were in great condition with many having new bright white sand in them. The greens were in excellent condition holding shots great but still quick enough to be challenging. They were lightly watering the greens all day to keep them from burning which didn't have much effect on the speed. The entire course has really shown tremendous improvement in course conditions. It can be pretty difficult as you move back from tee to tee. Definitely recommended to those that have enjoyed what the course once was years back.

Played here Friday 7/24/20 with a 6:40am tee time. First time here and I was very pleased with staff friendliness and conditions. Pace of play was 4 hours for me with 2 friends. We played a threesome. Had to wait on a group in front of us for a couple holes but not too bad. Hole 8 is one of the most beautiful holes I have ever seen! The ground crew was constantly working on every hole. We saw workers on every hole. Almost to the point where it got a little annoying at times but still made me happy seeing them putting in work. This course is well maintained and it should be. Definitely an elite course in the temecula area. I put it right behind cross creek. Staff was friendly. Never saw the cart girl but it was an early morning tee time,

Greens- 8/10 held balls well and rolled true with some deceiving reads
fairways- 7/10 little over watered in areas but mostly good coverage
rough- 9/10- long and penalizing but you didnt lose your ball
sand- 5/10- some were concrete hard and others were white sand and fluffy. Carts said to play all bunkers as GUR but we played out of them and didnt notice the sign on the cart til hole 15 haha
Tee box- 9/10- flat and good coverage. I hit off the mat and was pleased with all but 2-3 tee boxes.
water- didnt smell and all seemed clean.

Highly recommend this course. Definitely a course that's going to cost you anywhere between $80-$110 and its worth that. Course isn't worth more than $110 per round though. I think $80-$90 is about right for it.
