Played in a tournament last Sunday (2/13). Course played slow, 5hr45m round. The groups were packed in solid, with no group really lagging, so I'm not sure what the marshals could have done. Lots of fairways were still spongy from all the recent rain, with little ponds and mud everywhere. A couple of the greens were bumpy, but on the whole rolled very true and were probably the best aspect of the course. They still remain very tricky for me to read, especially lagging long putts. A few pin positions were on slopes that didn't look too bad, but I putted one off the green and another very nearly so. Rough was cut down, but tough to get out of with all the dampness catching clubheads. It seems tough to hit these fairways that are shaped around the hazards. I always seemed to be rolling into the first cut of rough. Bunkers were packed a bit from all the rain, but in surprisingly good condition. I think the course is just a little bit on the short side, but the layout is very interesting, keeping you engaged without being too punishing. Watch out for all the duck poop. I found the staff to be very friendly, with the pro shop being especially helpful.

Had 11:15 tee time & got off about 20 minutes late. Hole #1 closed due to a large sinkhole 25 yards short of the green. Looks like it will be 2-3 weeks before that is corrected. Instead of the par 5 1st hole you will play a 120 yard par 3 between the 11th & 12th hole. I was not informed of this situation when I made the tee time & they offered no reduction to the $65 SCGA Members weekend fee which made me a bit miffed.The tees, fairways, and greens were in very good condition. One of the very best courses in Southwestern Riverside County but a much better deal during the week...especially at the Senior Rate of $32.

Slight delay due to frost, considering the rains this place is in terrific shape, some fairways were very wet and swampy,some were dry. lift and place was the order or the day. Greens were perfect,I mean perfect. in a week or so this place will be super. Some work to be done on a couple holes where water created sink holes, but shouldnt interfere with play. Still one of the best around.

Course is in terrific shape,greens are almost perfect, fast,fast. a must play, hope you dont get the 9:50 group we did,front desk folks are very professional, we be back soon.

I played last Sunday at the "all you can play" rate of $30 due to the aeration. Well, I got my money's worth. I played 60 holes in all. I started @ 7am in the rain and with lots of water on the course! There were rivers and lakes on many fairways (and even a little river on 1 green!), but once it stopped, it dry out pretty quickly. The second round was much dryer. Both rounds played quickly (around 3 to 3-1/2 hrs each). There wasn't many others on the course due to the rain. The greens were slow, but not bad considering the water. The fairways dryed out nicely for the third round and I got a little more roll.

The course is a great design. Wide fairways and large greens make it easier to score well. Good views from many tee boxes, with one having almost a 100yd drop to the fairway! You need to add or subtract yardage from the tees due to many dow and up hill fairways.

The greens are nicely undulated. Not too severe, not too flat. They just aerated them the week before, so they were slow from that in addition to the rain.

There are four sets of tees, so that any handicap can play. From the back Black tees, the course is over 7000 yds and can be pretty challanging. There are some reachable par 5's, that will make it fun.

Overall, it's a great course and well worth the fees, even at the regular prices. And with a membership that gives you a handicap (only $35/yr), you get discounts on the greens fees.

SCGA continues to be in our top 5 in So Cal. If you are a senior the $32 rate is terrific for this class track. I think some folks mistake semi annual seeding for ill kept golf courses,, they are now in the process of scraping and plugging the fairways and rough and it doesnt look so hot but plays just fine. The greens are super fast,smooth and thick so they repair easily. This means no scars like at Cross Creek or Sierra Lakes with newer thinner greens. This is a class golf course,we play the blues and its all ya want. The help is ALWAYS polite and smart, and act like they are glad we showed up. A tough but fun day of golf. Whoever rated this course as good instead of great must have had a lot of triples.

As usual SCGA is in terrific shape, greens are super,fast and hold shots, and as they are aged a little they repair easily and without marks. We had a 7:30 AM tee time,course was a little wet, but its hot and they are protecting the fairways,just moved to a dry spot a couple of times and played on. My only complaint,and its not to the SCGA, its to the golfers that eat sunflower seeds while playing. who cares? not me unless you follow someone for 18 holes that leaves the shells on the greens and ya gotta keep moving them, so, a suggestion, if you play with a knucklehead that insists on doing this,,kick him in the butt for the rest of us. The SCGA is in great shape,a good deal for the $$ and ya get treated very nicely by the staff.
