Played the Blues (6850/72.0/124) for $13 including a cart on an awesome deal through Teeoff.com. Played with Itslikeimsayin, Hermgolfs & Wangster. Thanks to Mark, Mike & Andy for a nice, enjoyable round even with a POP of around 4H, 45M on a hot, breezy Sunday afternoon. The customer service was excellent, quick, efficient check-in, they got us out on time. We saw the cart gal several times. Nice grass range, plenty of room. Carts are very basic, no GPS. Old school course marking, 100, 150 & 200 yard markers on the side of the fairways. The tees were poor. Looked like they had not been cut in several days and all the par 3 tees were pretty chewed up. The fairways were more lush than thin with good coverage overall. The rough was lush & deep. Thick kikuyu, I consistently was coming up short and offline out of this stuff all day, very penal. Even advancing a wedge normal wedge distance was out of the question. The higher rough contributes to a slower POP as numerous times our 4some took a couple of minutes to find balls that were not that far out of the fairway where we had a pretty good idea the general vicinity they were in to start with. The traps were average. Crusty, not in as good of condition as most of the rest of the course, but still playable. The greens were medium speed, smooth, fairly soft and held shots well. I see the lines very well on these medium sized greens & usually putt well here after I get the medium speed down. I like the layout & enjoy playing here. Enough trouble to keep you honest but still wide open enough that I was hitting driver on all but two of the par 4's that require something shorter because of creeks running across the fairway. Fun course in good condition overall, but not in as good of condition as it was a month ago. But you sure can't beat $13 on a Sunday afternoon with a cart!

Through the magic of Meet & Play, wangster, hermgolfs, Nickesquire and I played out here today at 12:31. We all got an incredible rate on TeeOff.com of about $12 each, including cart, although hermgolfs chose to walk. We were behind a twosome who we never saw after the first hole and we played at a dreadful pace, finishing in 4:50. Great to meet new GKers and I think we all had a good time.

Conditions continue to be pretty good, and especially no complaints for the price. Greens are running medium speed and are very soft and accepting of shots. They got a little bit bumpier late in the afternoon, but overall I think they were fine. Around 85% of the fairways are lush and the rest is a grab bag. Rough was very lush in most spots and nasty deep in some places. Searching for balls in the rough surely contributed to our poor pace. The bunkers seemed to be improved since my last couple times here; I was only in one and I gave it a 5. Still a little compacted, but not the hardpan they've been in the past. Tee boxes were a little chewed up, but with a tee under the ball, not a big deal.

I played as a solo walker on Monday afternoon, 9/21, and got paired with a solo cart rider. On front nine, we played behind an elderly couple, but they kept a great pace, such that we never really had to wait. After the first nine, the elderly couple dropped out, and we breezed through the back nine - total POP ~3 hours 10 minutes.

It appeared that the rains from the previous week did some good for the course, though there were some muddy spots in the lowest lying sections of the course (near the creeks and ponds). Tees, fairways and greens were all in rather good condition, though there were some bare/thin fairway segments in what I consider "non-critical" fairway areas - avoid those non-critical areas by hitting decent drives, and you would be rewarded with very good lies in lush fairways. Greens were smooth and rolled true - my putting was the only aspect of my game that showed up consistently for play in this round. I had to play from only one bunker, and it had thin sand over a hard packed base, but very playable - it appears the maintenance crew is doing work to improve the bunkers (breaking up the hard packed sand, and raking/spreading it around for better playing surfaces).

The rough, as usual it seems, was a veritable mixed bag, from lush and thick, to thin, to bare. Some areas were just a cut longer than fairways, and easily playable. Other areas had been allowed to grow, such that the grass was 3 to 5 inches deep, and very difficult to escape - a full mid-iron or hybrid barely advanced the ball more than a hundred yards. And then there were the bare dirt/hardpan lies, especially under trees - I found these surfaces long of the par-3 hole #4 and long of the green on the par-5 hole #5, among other spots. The best approach is to keep it in the fairway - easier said than done!

On the day, my game really got away from me, such that I gave up keeping score. However, I still kept a keen eye on conditions, which in the end I considered quite favorable. The condition of the driving range was notable, in that in the late afternoon all stalls were occupied, and the grass was in very good condition.

I'll be back for more, likely next Monday 9/28 to take advantage of the $20 all you can play promotion after 8AM.

Played the Blues (6850/72.5/126) on an "All you can play" promotion for $20 including a cart. Enjoyed a very pleasurable morning round with 1Rudedog, Grantar2 & Hermgolfs in around 4 1/2 hours on a busy Monday in hot, calm playing conditions. The tees were mostly level with good coverage. The fairways were more lush than thin with good coverage overall. The rough was penal, lusher & deeper than most courses I have played recently, especially around the greens. Thick kikuyu, when the ball settled down, it was short iron time to get it back into play & was very challenging to chip out of. Monday 9/14/15 played El Prado - Chino Creek - Played in a GK foursome with 1Rudedog, Hermsgolf, and Nickesquire, Tee'd off around 8:50 playing 18 holes for $20 with cart on a Monday special. (Actually unlimited play on Chino Creek and Butterfield Stage for $20.

The course conditions were very good. Tee boxes were reasonably level, and lush. Fairways had very good coverage and rough lived up to it's name if you were stuck in it. We played from the blues, and the course threw sightlines, length, water, the creek, small greens and bunkers at you to make you work. Being straight when you needed or able to bend the ball left or right helps a lot on this course. I can't do those things so I can speak volumes on the rough.

The greens were well cared for, in prefect condition and rolled true. I saw more long one puts today by Nicksquire than I can say I have ever seen anyone make. The condition of the greens were excellent, and the pin placements challenging but fair.

Pace of play was great. We seldom waited for the group in front of us, and we were seldom pushed. At one point we pretty much had the course to ourselves. There are water fountains at a few holes along the course of play, along with restrooms. I did not see a cart with refreshments during either our round at Chino Creek or Butterfield Stage. The snack bar / Restaurant was very reasonably priced, but they don't carry O'douls.

At $20 walking for 18 this course would be a steal, but with unlimited golf after 8am it is unbelievable.

Look forward to playing this course again.

Rode the blues on 8/31/2015 in about 4 hours with Nickesquire and RGM2525. First time playing this course--- even though you could see some roads and hear some of the firing range in the distance this course gave me a peaceful feeling. Felt like I was out in the countryside. Felt like the course has some old school character with some tree line holes, some dogleg holes and some straight forward holes. Had some nice variation in holes with several longer 4 pars, a thinking man's 4 par on #10(still bombed driver lol) and some nice 5 pars. I thought the conditions were above average. The fairways had just enough coverage, some parts of lush areas and some more dried out areas but very playable. The rough around the greens was very healthy and lush. Was in 1 greenside bunker that was raked and semi-firm and in decent shape. Tees were level with good coverage. The greens were very healthy looking but were super slow for my taste---many putts looked good to only stop 1-2 feet short(felt like an 8 on the stimp)---really had to rip them to hold them on line and make putts. They had a fairly big grass range that was actually in slightly better shape than the fairways. The carts had no GPS and were old school. The only knock I had on the course were the cartpaths---they were rated a negative 100---potholes galore and in rough shape--lol--be careful. If I lived in the area I would give this course a go.

That opinion was reaffirmed today, above average layout in much better condition than I expected based on previous reviews. The course conditions were good overall and nothing about it was bad. The tees were very playable, mostly level with good coverage. The fairways were a combination of lush/thin. I never had a bad lie in the fairway. The rough could be penal, fairly lush & deep in places. When the ball settled down, it was short iron time to get it back into play. The traps were average, crusty, not in as good of condition as the rest of the course, but still very playable. The greens are on the smaller side for a 6850 yard course. They were smooth, fairly soft and held shots well. Medium speed, that would be the only complaint. Our group was short on putts the entire round, the greens looked and seemed faster than they actually were. Carts very basic, no GPS. Old school course marking, 100, 150 & 200 yard markers. Nice grass range, plenty of room. The customer service was excellent, quick, efficient check-in, they got us out on time. I like the layout here, enough trouble to keep you honest but still wide open enough that I was hitting driver on all but 1 par 4. Fun course, I used to play here on my regular rotation when I lived within 50 miles and would again if I lived closer.

Played today Friday 21st Aug. POP was good at 4:15, would have been much faster except we waited on the group in front of us on every hole. and that group was the first of our 8 groups. The course is in really good shape. Tee boxes, were good, always found a level spot, fairways were really nice and lush, I was not in any bunkers, but my partner was in one and he said it was hard. Glad I stayed out of them LOL The greens were really good, smooth and rolled very well, I had 28 putts today so somehow I found the speed also. We played from the blues and this is a long course, but had a good time. Doesn't hurt that I shot my best round ever (84) Only double boogie was on #18 bummer.

Played in 4 hours and 30 minutes because we quit at after the 16th hole.

The only positive was seeing 20 plus handicappers playing the blue tees and hacking it all over and asking why, why, why are they that stupid.

I don't get it.

My mistake I should have called first and Butterfield is closed for aerifiying.

Nice course usually for a nice price but not that much fun waiting in 95 degree weather.
