Played Chino Creek, late morning on a Tuesday. I like the Creek course, where as the Butterfield course, I would rather not play, unless my arm is twisted a bit.
From T to green I would rate this course above 6, but anything right or left of the fairway and sometimes of the greens, are horrible. Greenside traps are okay to play out of, but pebbles left on the green and in your putting path, make them poor.
They have recently purchased new, used carts, parking brakes did not work well, but overall a huge upgrade, from the carts they had, which looked like they were from the 70's.
Sounds like warfare going on from the nearby shooting range.
Would love to see them update, modernize the layout at Butterfield.

On 1/14/15, I went to the course without a reservation, and was accommodated to play as a walking single - went straight to the first tee to get ahead of a foursome, starting right at 10:00AM. Weather was spectacular, mid-70's with little breeze. Ended up walking 36 holes today, and finished just before sunset; first round completed in 3.5 hours, while second round was played on the front nine twice due to an extremely slow single that wouldn't let me get around him.

Conditions on the Chino Creek course were noticably better than on Butterfield Stage course, which I played and reviewed the previous day. Tee boxes were all generally level and lush, with some divot damage. Fairways were pretty good, green and relatively lush, with some minor bare areas. Rough was a mixed bag - green and lush in some areas, brown/dormant in others, and bare dirt in other areas. There were some muddy areas around the water courses, especially the lowest fairway area on hole #2, and also on hole #7. On the back nine, holes #10 and #17 had plentiful mud on the lower fairways near the creek. Greens were in pretty good shape, looked good, rolled true at medium/fast speeds, and held well struck approach shots. They were a little damp, and as usual had many ballmarks left unrepaired. The only bunker from which I played had decent granular sand, but many bunkers were hard packed and still wet from the recent rain.

For 36 holes of golf, I paid $37 - $27 for the morning round, and $10 for the afternoon replay. As usual, I feel this is a good value.

Scored a deal out here on TeeOff.com I couldn't refuse, so my son and I played for $34 total with a 9:58 tee time this morning. However, there was a big frost delay and we didn't tee off until around 11:25. The staff seemingly handled things to the best of their ability and we ended up playing with a threesome of fun guys. Considering there were lots of fivesomes and the course was packed, things moved somewhat decently on the front. On No. 10 a group who had stopped for snacks jumped in front of us (I hate that!) and delayed us a bit. Total "on course" POP was almost 5 hours, and with the delay, total time at the course was more than 6.5 hrs. (We had a tasty and cheap breakfast in the snack bar/coffee shop when we first learned of the frost delay.)

Conditions aren't bad out here right now. Greens are very smooth and much nicer on the course than on the practice putting green. Medium fast to fast and aside from a few too many ball marks, I have no complaints. Fairways are pretty decent, too. I think the recent rains have done them well. Rough is pretty spotty with some bare spots. I was in one bunker and it was ok. Tee boxes were pretty good but just a little shaggy. Overall for $34 for two players with cart, a great deal.

I played El Prado Chino Creek on Wednesday 12/10/14, and again on Monday 12/15/14. There is much evidence around the course of the recent rain storms, with the low lying areas around the creeks, water courses and lakes being muddy. The worst impacted areas were marked as ground under repair. Since I walked the course, most of the problem areas were easy to get around. However, for those riding carts, be aware that there are many areas roped off to prevent cart access. Thus, many holes playing as "cart path only" (even though many of these holes don't have cart paths). The course management and other golfers would appreciate cart riders keeping carts out of restricted areas.

Another point to note is that the maintenance crew has begun work to eradicate, or at least control, the red imported fire ant infestation. These introduced ants are a big problem throughout the two El Prado courses, and the recent rains have really made their presence evident. Hopefully the eradication efforts are successful.

The rains have done wonders for the fairway grass - it is lush and much more filled in than earlier in the year. Soft fairways really limited rollout on tee shots, so the course played longer than usual. Most of the tee boxes are lush, some maybe in need of cutting, but all essentially level. I managed to avoid any of the bunkers, though they generally appear playable. Rough has gotten rougher, and a little tougher to play from (reason to keep it in the fairway). As for the greens, contrary to what another review stated, I found the greens to be generally firm, and as usual receptive to well hit approaches. The greens were mostly smooth, and rolled true at medium speed. There seem to be an abundance of dark spots on many greens, presumably from ball marks not being repaired. I always repair my own, and any others that I can get to within reason.

My earlier round was completed in 3 hours 10 minutes, while the later round was completed right at 4 hours.

As usual, if you can accept the limitations, I recommend El Prado (either course) if you are looking for good conditions at an affordable price.

Now I think the course in good better but before was pretty bad bacus it dry an sumer is a little rain and not to much water. Welk I like these greens an they are flat a soft and smooth to. some of thes farways have deth grass but most are geen to. I was at dos lagos and it is the same but I like both. It was fun but it was wet.

Chino Creek golf course has rolling hills . Some times you tee off into a valley and some times you tee off going up hill . I played there after a heavy rain so the course was mudded and wet . The rough was very long and wet , about 5" . Too wet to mow . The fairways were very soft so you got very little roll after a good drive . After a heavy rain the sand traps where in good shape , I only saw one trap that had mud . The tee boxes where fare and the Greens looked ugly but the ball rolled smoothley , medium fast . It took our 4some , 4 hours to play .

Sand in the one bunker I was in and looks like all the tee boxes were new grass and flat. Someone there is really doing their job well. Keep it up.

Played Friday Nov. 28th Haven't play Chino Creek for a while and the course was in good shape. Played from the blues and it played long. Tee boxes, and fairways were good. Greens rolled well as I had 12 putts frt and 14 bck for 26, can't complain. Played as a 5 some and POP was ok at 4:25. I won't give it a number rating as I think words are more accurate.

Played Chino Creek with my son today. We had a 12:30 "deal" time through TeeOff.com (approx. $42 for 2 after 25% off promo code) but were able to tee off a little past noon. First few holes moved quickly, then a group let us play through, but things got backed up around #6. We joined a twosome on #7 and played the remainder of the course with them, waiting on most shots from there on in. Still not bad overall POP of about 4:10 in the rain and drizzle.

As usual, the greens are pretty good here. They're smooth and medium fast with their fair share of ball marks, but for the most part completely acceptable. Pretty soft and they hold shots well. The rest of the course can be summed up by one word: splotchy! Tee boxes, fairways, rough are all hit or miss, mostly miss but not bad if you've played here recently and know what to expect. I wasn't in a bunker but my son said they were fine, although wet in today's rain. For the great deal we got, no complaints from me.
