Had a 10:00 tee time, checked in at 9:30 and was on the tee box at 9:40. The course was full of threesomes and finished the round in a little less than 4 hours.
From the tee boxes to the greens the course seemed soft, it might be time to break out a lawn mower. The greens were soft, almost spongy. The tee boxes, the grass felt the same way. the fairways were a little better, but mowing might be a good idea. The course is very green right now. The sand next to the greens is closer to fluffy dirt than sand, but not horrible.
On the back nine some of the fairways bunkers are "ground under repair" with new sand going in. Glad to see they are working on improvements.
There is a $28 green fee with a cart during the weekdays. This course was well worth the time and travel to get here for the low green fees.
The last time I played here I said I would never be back, that was years ago, now I'm thinking about returning in two weeks.
It was cloudy all day and we didn't see one fly all day, like posted in previous reveiws of this course.

This course is in very nice shape right now. All the water/snowmelt that runs through here to the Santa Ana Canyon has done good things for the fairways. The fairways are a little thick at times, so you won't get as much roll as you'd like, but they are in very nice shape. As always, the greens are soft & roll true. I love putting here, because it's a little slower than other places, but still rolls very true. The rough is painfully robust this time of year.

As always, the bunkers plain suck. But for the price & at the pace this normally plays on a weekday, it is well worth the cost.

This course is in the best shape I have ever seen. The fairways were just gorgeous. The greens as usual were in great shape. They are a faster speed than the sister course, Butterfield. Right now with these conditions and $22 to walk, Chino Creek gets my vote as the best value in all of Southern California. I will walk 54 holes here next week as well. Hopefully I will make more putts.

I guess because I know what to expect, I have a different perspective about playing here. I expect the fairways to be questionable, the rough to be patchy, and the bunkers inconsistant. The one constant is the greens, they are always decent. Pace of play was great (first out so what would you expect) and the staff was as always very accomodating. This is just good basic golf, no frills, but still a pleasant way to spend 2 1/2 hours in the morning.

Weather was perfect. Blue skys, warm , low to mid 70's in the morning and real nice in the afternoon. The course was in not too bad of shape expecially after so much rain last week . Did find some roped off areas of mud on a few fairways , but really not to bad . The ruff has not been cut as yet, and is a little long . The greens held the approach
shot very well , and speed was consistent most of the day. I'll tell ya , for mid February,it wasn't too bad out there . I'll bet in a few weeks the course will shape up just fine. The snack shop was closed ,but the cart girl came around about 3-4 time through the day .
The foot hills are nice and green and to the north , the snow covered mountains made for some nice back drops. Generally a nice day on the course .

Played in the late morning on Saturday, 2/13/10, on a warm sunny day with only light breezes - great golf weather. A little too soon playing this course after the recent heavy rains - lots of flooding damage on lower holes near the creek, many fairways roped off. Greens were generally pretty good, rolling well at medium speed. Fairways and rough were pretty shaggy from lack of mowing after rains. Teed off 30 minutes late, slow pace, snack shack closed, saw cart girl once each side, no rangers. played long due to wet conditions. No GPS or yardage book, no club cleaner on carts. OK if you catch it in good condition.

OK, what do you expect when you pay only $25 and it includes a cart? The tees were OK, at least from the blues. I suspect that the blue tees don't get much action during the week. The fairways were a little shaggy due to the recent overseed and you will not get any roll off the tee. The greens were OK, not real fast, not real slow, but held every shot during the round. Why have bunkers if you are not going to put any sand in them? All of the bunkers were only filled with dirt. I do not believe that this is acceptable (at any price). If the course is not going to properly maintain the bunkers with sand, why not just let the grass grow in them. Lastly, I found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Good staff with great customer service. The course is in good shape considering the heat we have been enduring the last month or so, the fairways are a bit tatered, greens are in great shape, the bunkers could use some work and a little more sand, but overall the course is holding up to summer well. No its not a country club, but neither is the pricing. The ladies in the snack shack are very nice, the food is good and there are lots of specials to be had. I play both courses regulary and always enjoy myself.
