Played Chino Greek in the drizzle Fri. 17th. Great staff always friendly and helpful. The course was a little damp but playable. This course seems to get knocked sometimes when it dosen't deserve it. Sure ther are some yellowing spots in the rough,BUT IT IS WINTER AFTER ALL. And the fairways were in very good condition, the sand in the traps was as good as any other course out there and the greens while a little bumpy were rolling straight. The best thing was that it only took three hours and fortyfive minutes to play and the fact that the greens fees are still just twentyeight with a cart Yahoo!!

Played on Sunday 9/26 Chino Creek is in a little better shape than Butterfield. Has many bare areas in the fairway and rough, hard bunkers with little sand, the greens are slower than usual because of excessive watering.

Played Sunday 9/19. The greens were really, really soft. If you were chipping to the green with a lob or sand wedge you had to throw the ball all the way to the pin, there was little or no roll. The greens were therefore rather slow and bumpy. Lots of bare spots on the sides of the fairways. Pace of play was good, customer service was good. I like the El Prado courses because I have played them for so many years. I live 45 minutes away now so I won't drive to them other than for tournaments, but the greens are always interesting.

I guess the word is out about the $20 green fee after 12. Only problem is it brings out the inconsiderate people who seem to have no clue on etiquete. I even talked to 2 Asian ladies who admitted to s... Continue »

I guess the word is out about the $20 green fee after 12. Only problem is it brings out the inconsiderate people who seem to have no clue on etiquete. I even talked to 2 Asian ladies who admitted to skipping holes in the past so they wouldn't have to wait but now it is to crowded for that. Main problem is no marshal with any authority or nerve to tell the bums to straighten up or leave. I went to one green on Monday and there were 2 empty beer cans left on the green. Course in good shape, golfers aren't. Time to go play elsewhere.

Played here last Thursday, 8/5. Walked up a few minutes after noon and heard the starter sending three players to the tee. He had me join them. The course is in good shape, fairways were fine, the rough varied from hole to hole (as rough is allowed to) and the greens rolled smooth. The tee boxes probably could've used a mowing and were a bit uneven, but they were fine for the most part.

For $20 with a cart (after 12:00 throughout August), this is a deal that's hard to beat. I've played here a lot in the past but mostly in the mornings. The course felt great in the afternoon with steady but light winds factoring into play on nearly every hole. I really appreciate how there are no houses or anything on this course. Some of the guys I was paired with, who said they typically play country club golf, referred to the course as the "dog track" at one point. But if 6,800 yards of scenic holes, nice elevation changes and a course unspoiled by surrounding sprawl is a "dog track," I'll play a dog track any day. Just because it's inexpensive doesn't mean it's not a good course.

Played the Chino Creek side for the first time on 7/29 at 1:09. Went right to the first tee, no wait. Customer service was and is always great. I really enjoyed playing this side more than Butterfield. It's more scenic and we couldn't smell the cows. The tee boxes were in great shape. The fairways were green, but a little too thick in a lot of areas. They need to be cut closer. The greens were great and rolled true on just about every putt. If they didn't it was because someone didn't repair their ball mark (respect the game guys). The course was challenging and the special rates ($20 after 12) are amazing. We are moving to Texas soon, but this is where I'll be playing until I leave.

The greens were excellent for a muni this price. That's the most important part anyway right? However, the fairways, rough, and tee boxes need a good mowing job. If you miss the fairway, you better have someone spot your ball...consider it lost. Also the driving throughout the course in the cart felt like an Indiana Jones ride.

Overall, some challenging holes. Especially with the wind in the PM. Great value for a decent muni. I would definitely be back.

BTW, it's probably so inexpensive because it's built next to a gun range (pow pow pow bishes) and there's powerlines everywhere (free mulligan)..but can you can't beat 35 for 4.5 on a wknd. if you can, please let me know.

The teeing grounds are cut like a thick fringe. The greens aren't terrible but it's very slow and are spongy not to mention very soft. So for $52 to ride, I just don't think it is fair, but then again it's a muni and people expect that kind of conditions and may even think it's in good condition to see it in the shade of green.
