Walked on this morning as a single and wanted to play the North course. The gentleman behind the counter suggested that I play the South because it was wide open. What a treat!. Pretty much had the course to myself and I was walking as well. Tee's, fairways and greens were in great shape. The couple of traps I was in had good sand in them and the trap in front #13 they were putting in new sand.

First time here (Friday, 6/6) in over a decade. Started early and finished in 4.5 hours, nice to see marshals out sheparding the herd. Lot's o' people around with a couple of events going on ... with two courses I can see how that can easily happen here ... the staff keep things in line and that was also a nice to see. The course, indeed, is an old school layout over rolling hills and many elevated greens. Good length from the Blues, would love to play the 7600+ yard Black tees someday. Some course knowledge is recommended but not necessary. Note that you need to have reasonably accurate control off the tee to score here but most misses will still keep you on the course as it's mostly wide open area with trees and many bunkers as the main defense. Greens I liked and they rolled true but a tad slow for my taste ... they will hold any decent shot. Bunkers were hit and miss, at least there wasn't a whole bunch of unraked footprints running in and out. Altogether, I enjoyed the course and the crew were top notch, a nice afternoon in the Chino Hills area. A bit of a drive and I'd surely do again ... sooner rather than later. Recommended.

As a past golf course operator I am very picky, so forgive me. Congrats to Los Serranos on two major changes. #1 A new superintendent and dividends are already seen, course has improved drastically - greens are awesome, fairways getting defined and lush, bunkers are being refurbished, can't say enough for the improvement. #2 The Kramer family taking back over their own golf course with Ron Kramer leading the way as General Manager and Andrew Kramer now working in the pro-shop, nice to be welcomed finally by staff that appreciate my business. Food and beverage personnel is incredible as well as the food, it was a great day. On top of that, I played with our fearless leader Johnny Hakim, Founder of Greenskeeper.org and got to see my close freind David Kramer.

Played Los Serranos Country Club South course today. Second time back this year! I wish this golf course was closer to me. What a fun track and right now, in great shape. I was very impressed. Greens are running smooth, medium/fast and holding shots. With exception to the first green which is half bent/half poa, that ran fast but was firm, the rest of the greens are poa and very well kept. Regarding the fairways, lush and tight. Loved them. Only a few holes where there were some thin lies but overall, perfect lies on all day. As for the rough, well, its just a little higher than the fairways but mostly lush. On some holes, like hole 7, it was thin and even had a few bare spots but overall, on the rest of the course, good lies. Regarding the tee boxes, lush and mostly level. We played the Blue tees. Lastly were the bunkers. Good sand quality in most of the bunkers. Great new sand on a handful of holes, most notably holes 16, 17 and 18. Beautiful pure white sand. Before the round I had a delicious breakfast burrito. I love the big clubhouse/restaurant. Good service and ambiance. Los Serranos Country Club is pure traditional golf. The courses and facilities have a lot of character. I already want to play it again.

Played here this past Friday 4/25 at 11:53am for $27! I was able to book one of the super discounted tee times off the website for my dad and myself. Right after, I called the pro shop to switch my reservation to the North course as I thought they had punched the South more recently but the gentleman put his reputation on the line and said both courses are in great condition so I asked him to leave my tee time for the South. No problem!

I've played here two weeks in a row now and both times the starter office and staff have been great to deal with. Both times I started right at my tee time.

South course was in pretty good condition. Some of the fairways are a bit yellow probably due to the drought but still in good condition.

The Tee boxes were pretty good. Most were level and I didn't have any problem finding a good spot to tee off. Fairways/rough were both good as well.

Bunkers were probably the low point. I picked up a rock the size of my thumb from one of them. I did notice some brand new sand in the bunkers on the par 5 18th. Hopefully they are working their way around the course putting in new sand because some of the traps are desperately in need.

Greens were pretty smooth and well recovered from recent aerification. Not too many ball marks on them either.

Pace of Play was good. Although the new policy says 4.25 hours for the SOuth course, the clock at the 1st tee still says 4.5 hours and that's exactly what our 4 some finished in. I think 4.5 is reasonable for the South course.

Played the blue tees and shot a 10 over 84. My second best score, second to my 9 over 81 on the North course a week ago.

So far I'm loving this course and its staff/pop policy!

This is definitely a class operation with a great attention to detail in the landscaping and in the little attempts to bring golf (and tennis) history to the players. There is a beautiful, well appointed clubhouse, great practice areas, the 18 hole putting course and even and Old Tom Morris quote on a large sign. Add it all up and you do feel that this place is different and they care about your experience. There are two courses and they're in fact very different. Focusing on the South you know you're playing a man's course when you look at the scorecard and see that the white tees play over 6,700 yards and the blues over 7,000 yards! Jack's Blacks, the championship tees are over 7,400 yards. Whew! Make sure to bring your huevos. The course is well designed and flows nicely from one hole to the next. Gone are the towering and beautiful eucalyptus trees, felled years ago by disease but the newer trees planted in their place are starting to mature and a return to the old look of the course is on it's way, particularly on the 4th hole that used to look very daunting with what looked like Sherwood Forest to maneuver through. There are way too many great holes to highlight with plenty of risk-reward holes and did I mention this course is long? It's a par 74! This place is very unique and well worth the cost. It is a must play for anyone. Except if you're a 97 pound weakling.

The south was in good shape. The greens are very nice and recovered 97% from the aerification. Most putts are somewhat slow. But, downhill putts can be faster than you think. The pace of play was good. The marshal did ask the group ahead of us to speed up. If only the pace of play could be like today at other courses. I hit a few putts towards the 15 inch cup on the putting green. This experiment from what I have read has received bad reviews. Me, I think it would be very effective in speeding up play. Lots of numbers would have to be worked out so that a player can maintain an established handicap playing to such holes. I would like to try it. time for bed good night

Played in the GK Book outing. Interesting layout with back to back par 5's to start. Conditions were great with great lies in the fairways, level tee boxes and smooth greens. Fun collection of par 5's... Continue »

Played in the GK Book outing. Interesting layout with back to back par 5's to start. Conditions were great with great lies in the fairways, level tee boxes and smooth greens. Fun collection of par 5's and 4's, dog legs, protected greens and elevation changes. Par 3's are uphill and long, close to 200 yrds from the whites and felt the same. Best Par 3 was 17, downhill with a green protected by water front left. Overall great day with the GK crew.
