March 1st review is still the same as my last review. Not much has changed.

Greens are smooth, firm and fast.

Fairways are thin and firm.

Sure will be glad when winter is over and we get some green fairways with some body to them.

This is an update from my Nov. review. Teed off at 8 AM, not very busy.

Good grass Driving range with decent golf balls.

Greens: firm, smooth with medium to fast speed.

Good grass Driving range with decent golf balls.

Greens: firm, smooth with medium to fast speed.

Fairways: we had nice green fairway but now they are brown from the recent frost.

Rough: terrible, hardpan and animal borrows.

Traps: excellent!

Tees: uneven because of old animal borrows.

POP: just over 4 hours.

Good condition overall for a Muni!

Greens: in excellent condition, smooth, medium to fast and holding.

Fairways: still in above average condition. A few too many divots on some of the holes.

Rough: 1-3" high, MANY bare spots, animal holes/mounds. Worst part of the course.

Tees: many are not level due to old animal holes/tunnels.

Traps: lots of fresh sand, great condition.

POP: just over 4 hours.

In good condition for a Muni.

We got out before the Ladies club. They play at 8 AM. Good grass driving range and two putting greens. Greens: need 7-10 more days to heal. Fairways: good lies most of the time, a few thin areas. ... Continue »

We got out before the Ladies club. They play at 8 AM. Good grass driving range and two putting greens. Greens: need 7-10 more days to heal. Fairways: good lies most of the time, a few thin areas. Rough: hasn't changed; weeds, animal borrows/mounds and many bare areas and the DG which scratches the clubs. Traps: in excellent condition. Tees: many are uneven, old animal borrows. Once the greens "heal" the conditions will be better than average for a Muni if you keep the ball in the fairways!

First one's out, Sat morning around 6am. POP was good, 3hrs, me and my buddy. We had to wait the first 5 holes on the grounds crew to mow the greens, so that affected the POP a little.

First one's out, Sat morning around 6am. POP was good, 3hrs, me and my buddy. We had to wait the first 5 holes on the grounds crew to mow the greens, so that affected the POP a little.

I've never seen this course in such good shape. We discovered about 4 holes in that they were having the Oceanside City Championship right behind us. That probably had a lot to do with the epic conditions. They put custom flags in, all were yellow with championship logo, so we needed a pin sheet when we made the turn, a little frustrating because they had pins super tucked and we didn't know pin placement, guessing game.

Everything tee to green was pretty awesome. Tee boxes were at the tips and they were great. Fairways were just about perfect. Greens were awesome, very receptive and quick downhill. I didn't find a bunker, but they looked just fine. If you can get out there in the next couple days, do yourself a favor and do it. $42 to ride on saturday was good deal. I've always loved this layout.

Played here on Tuesday AM, first time in a few weeks. The BIG surprise is that they are restocking the traps with SAND, amazing! This is a major addition for a muni!!!! Greens: smooth, "holding" with medium to fast speed. Fairways: beautiful, good lies all day! Tees: many are uneven due to animal burrows, you just got to look around for a flat area. Traps: now better than the usual hardpan, hope they maintain them. Great addition! Rough: a zero; hardpan, weeds, and animal burrows. Except for the rough, this old muni is really shaping up, give it a try!

For years this course was dragged through the gutter by previous managements. This course now has THE BEST greens in North county San Diego. They consistently run 10-11 and smooth as silk. The fairways are unreal and your ball sits up like on a tee. The new Management and new greenkeeper has transformed this golf course into one of the best in Southern California. I play 3 times a week at Torrey, Aviara, La Costa and nearly every other course within 20 miles. You come and play this place and I GUARANTEE you will return many times now that it has been transformed.

Had an early AM Tee time on a dreary overcast day, very little sun. Greens: medium to fast speed, medium to firm greens. Fairways: very good condition, ball sits up nicely. Rough: TERRIBLE! Weeds, animal mounds and many bare spots. Traps: raked, a little firm but playable. Tees: many tees are uneven because of old animal tunnels. POP: 4 hours. Good grass driving range, two practice putting greens. OK green fees if you are a Oceanside resident, even better for a senior resident!

Played today 4/22 w/Club Mbrs. Considering recent aeration the greens are "almost" healed. Still a little bumpy/a little tricky to manage that fine line to the cup. Soft/receptive; quite a lot of unfixed ball marks. Fairways I really liked a lot! Easy to hit off of. A few GUR marked areas, but a steady improvement for sure. Tees are in good shape other than the typical uneven ones (especially forward tees), but it is what it is and theyre big enough to find a stance. Course has a lot of burrowing animals and I'm sure it's a full time job to keep them from being as destructive as they are known to be. The fallen trees from prior storms have been cleared away, the bridge from 12 to 13 reapired nicely; they've run the tractors/grading the rain worn DG areas; and overall I can see continued efforts to keep this muni in good shape. The Rough was about 1-3 inches and is growing in nicely. If you stay in the fairway or rough fringe, you're good to go. In the DG you will booger up your irons. There are still some weeds, hardpan and animal mounds. I managed to find 2 bunkers today, and although they were on the thin side, was still able to aggressively make the shot out. Pro Shop staff are always very friendly, Clubhouse quaint, friendly, with excellent bar/grill staff. Saw the Cart Lady on course twice. With majority of the club members out of town, it was as if we had the course to ourselves. Weather was amazing, no wind - an amazing surprise, and our group went out first settin the pace and we finished two holes ahead of the 2nd group with POP: just over 4 hours if that long. Thinking another week and the greens will be back in the spotlight of reviews once again. This is a wonderful muni, great locals, nice practice areas (grass driving range), two putting areas, and a little chipping area. This course can be challenging, as well as rewarding. Just this golfin gals humble opinion. :)
