The course is awesome. Played Tuesday after the rains and the course is in fantastic shape. Bunkers were in great shape and other than being firm, no idea we had over an inch of rain. Greens are fast and perfect and the course continues to be in the best shape it has ever been in. Great customer service in the pro shop and the bar after.

If you have a chance to play here, now is the time.

If you have never played this course, be aware that The Crossings is NOT for beginners or high handicappers. Even from the White tees, there are many long, straight drives required to get over canyons. There is a strong opportunity to lose your golf ball on virtually every hole (except for two very short par 3's). The greens are very large and multi-tiered with lots of break at each level. Many people hate this golf course because of its difficulty and sometimes "unfair" pin placements. Others complain about the airplane noise, quirky par 3's and huge distances between some greens and the next tee box. But if you are a good golfer and have played this course many times, you will appreciate the challenge and uniqueness of The Crossings. The course is always kept in very good condition and plays differently depending on the winds and pin placement. The Crossings was the most expensive public golf course to build, but it also has the best clubhouse and restaurant of any course in San Diego County. I feel privileged to play here as a local resident.

Played on Sunday morning and the pace was as good as it gets out here. You would never know they punched less than a month ago, greens were great. Fairways great. rough was patchy and could be long, especially greenside but overall not bad. Sand traps were all really good. Condition of the tee boxes was bad and they were working on them, overseeding them and getting some grass back. Only thing wrong but you could usually always find some grass. Great customer service from Cory at check in to after in the bar.

First out yesterday for daddy day and pace was not an issue and I think we finished somewhere around 3 hours 15 minutes. Course was a little soft in the morning but was it warmed up the course did get a little firmer.

Greens were good and probably rolled at a medium pace. The issue with the greens is that they can get in some diabolical pin locations so its really a matter of getting in the correct spots.

Fairways seemed a little spongy especially at the start of the round. Not much roll to begin with but got better. I'm not sure what kind of grass this is but it seemed to me to have that shaggy feel to it. Not a knock just seemed like the type of grass it is. There are some bare spots and divots out there but I didn't think there were an abundance of them.

Rough wasn't penalizing at all and like the fairways there were some dead spots out there. Probably more so in the rough than the fairways. Really the issue is the ESA so if your ball goes in there forget it.

Generally able to find a spot to tee off from on the tee boxes. Some of the par 3s and shorter par 4s have some divots but overall pretty good.

I was in a couple of bunkers and they generally did not seem very good. Most seemed to be on the thin side. For a fairway bunker it wasn't an issue but for the greenside ones it certainly was an issue.

Guys in the pro shop were great and the starter was as well. One thing I didn't like was the GPS was off and a couple of times I got burned by using the number on the GPS and not realizing the pin was in a different location. I have no clue why some were correct and some were not.

We got the JC guest rate which I thought was a great price all things considering. Overall an enjoyable experience.

teed off Monday afternoon on a nice semi-cool day. Course was in good shape, greens rolled great and were smooth for an afternoon out here. Fairways are dormant but in good shape with a few problems with divots in some areas. Rough was not long but thick and grabby. Bunkers were great and had plenty of sand and played well and were raked, surprisingly. Good value for afternoon rounds but if you dont have 5 hours to finish, you won't. Still very slow with no sign of trying to speed it up.

Course is in great shape and the greens were firing. We played early and actually finished in 4 hours, which out here, is a miracle. Should have been 3:30 but slow group in front of us was way behind. Everything about the course is in good shape right now, a few areas have some divot problems because with the fairways firm, balls tend to funnel into the same areas on a few holes. Course is fun and really fun when it doesn't take 5+ hours to play. Good customer service and great breakfast burritos.

Played on a Thursday, teeing off around 930. Course is in great shape from tee to green. The greens were a little spongy but you had to still hit a solid shot to have it hold the green. They were medium fast and were rolling very true. Great fairway coverage and the rough was thick enough to cause you issue if you were in it. Bunkers were nice and all the service was fantastic from the check in to drinks with Katie in the bar afterwards. Well worth my 63 buck rate.

So being retired on a fixed income causes one to look for deals here and there on green fees. Yesterday my buddy and I played The Crossings in Carlsbad. It was my first round there and I was extremely impressed. The staff were really helpful, and very friendly which is always a good way to start a round. I am a plus 18 handicapper so shooting a 96 and being 70 was a good round for me. The layout is challenging if you hit the ball long you can clear the hazards. I got into trouble on a couple of holes but still dug my way out due to the excellent condition of the fairways. The weather was perfect. 74 clear slight breeze. We teed off at 3:09 for a very well spent 50.00, and finished right at 8 just before dark. Overall my rating is a solid 10!!!!
