Played today. First off POP 3 H. The course is in terrific shape, though some of the tee boxes have yet to fill in completely (but no issue with teeing it up). Fairways were wonderful (nice and wide) with great lies and roll, all round. Was able to avoid the traps, but they looked fine and heard no complaints. Very little rough at present just outside the fairways, but many OB/ESA areas do come into play. Greens were in top shape, void of divots (advantage of going first) and chipped/putted with speed, all round (practice green was evidence of what one would expect). Customer service top notch at all levels. Fantastic course, great layout and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Played Saturday the 19th at 9 and the course was in great shape. Greens are fantastic and came out of the punching in great shape, held shots and putted smooth and semi-fast. Sand in bunkers was nice and plenty of it and the fairways were great with no bare areas anywhere and very little divot damage. Great customer service from check in to the bar afterwords. Great food and saw the cart gal multiple times in the day.

Played The Crossings on Wed. at 10:20AM and a PoP of 4:30 with some waiting but not much. If you have not played this SD County gem yet, you should. Conditions very good tee to green, with good sand and manageable rough. Course layout can be challenging if you're not getting off the tee as planned as there's lot's of ESA areas on both sides of the fairways to lose your ball. Some great views along the hilly, coastal terrain and you will get many side-hill lies to boot. Best part was the greens which rolled nice and true, slow early and speeding up as the day warmed up. Give it a go if you're in the area. Our fee was $62 riding senior rate ... worth every penny. Recommended.

Played here today (7/21) with fellow GK member Jon P. on a 10:12 tee time. Rates here were a little more than I would normally pay but thankfully I had a gift card from a previous scramble win that made it easier to swallow. Conditions today were just as described in Alex’s last review and perhaps a tad better even. I was very impressed how well the course has held up in this heatwave. It’s always a pleasure to make the drive out The Crossings!

Tee boxes: Perhaps the weakest part of the course and even then they weren’t terrible. I’m sure the white boxes we played today get plenty of play but a few could use some leveling. People seemed to do a good job to fill divots on the devilishly short par 3 holes.

Fairways: Excellent shape; green that popped against blue skies, more than fair roll thanks to drier than normal conditions (in weather), and rarely a bad lie all day.

Rough: Where present it was mildly penal. The ESA is far more detrimental but the rough did keep you humble at times, especially in the back 9.

Bunkers: Was only in one today but it was in really good shape with pearl white sand and enough sand to allow for sand saves.

Greens: The highlight of the round. Even though they were a bit slow and spongy, they rolled well and held shots with a fair amount of spin and stoppage. Visually they were great and it added to the enjoyment and playability.

ETC: Staff was great like always. Saw the smiley and thoughtful cart attendant both on the front and back. Food at the turn was just okay but service with a smile goes a long way. Carts have good GPS but I wish it would show carts on map as there are numerous blind spots. Course layout is always a blast here and can be played ten different ways. Pace today was a surprising 4.75 hours with waiting but never much beyond hole 8. If you can find a good deal, now is the time to play Crossings!

Played yesterday in a tournament. Just a quick update as obviously the course conditions are the same as they were three days ago so no need to do a full review. Beverage cart only goes out on the front nine so make sure you take supplies before heading into the canyon. Also, there is no way you could walk this course. Between the steep elevation changes and super long distances between holes you would easily add another 40+ minutes to your round. And that's if you had the stamina/fitness to even do it.

A definite fun track to play.

After seeing that Jim came out and played in preparation for this week's upcoming tournament I decided I better do the same. Course is in great shape tee to green. Greens definitely have multiple tiers with some pin placements being in some very tough locations. Having said that, the speeds were at a medium-slow pace allowing the golfer to be aggressive with putts.

Greens were definitely smooth and receptive to approach shots. Fairways were in solid condition as well. The entire course has numerous and severe elevation changes with on,y a few of the collection areas having multiple divots. The sand in the bunkers rivals the top courses in the peninsula. It was that good.

For the amount if play this course gets, I was impressed at nice the tee boxes were. Even the short par 3 tee boxes were virtually divot free.

Speaking of the amount of play.... This place is always busy so POP is going to be on the slow side. Teeing off during prime time morning on a Saturday almost guarantees a 5 HR round. We were just over the 5 HR mark. It actually wasn't too bad for us because we had two beginners with us who lost multiple balls so we weren't pushing the group in front of us by any means. Yet we still were waiting a bit on all tee shots.

Almost every hole has some sort of thick brush or canyon lining the side of the fairways so any errant shot is a lost ball.

Customer service was excellent. There was a mix up with the reservation and they did a fantastic job to accommodate us.

Played The Crossings yesterday with an early tee time. Haven’t played this course in years and forgot how fun it really is. Was playing in preparation for a tournament and played the blue tees. Course was in great condition all around. Pace was good at 4 hours, they advertise to play early as the day goes on the pace gets worse.

Tee boxes were the weakest part of the course. Most were lush with just a little damage, but I felt a lot were un-even and not level. But that may just be me.

Fairways were lush and freshly cut. They gave a good roll and had lots of humps and bumps.

Greens were in great shape. Almost no ball marks and very few brown or discolored spots. The greens here are crazy, and it seems like almost every hole has a green with multiple tiers. Be careful where the pin is because I could see a lot of crazy putts. They were fast but not too fast and rolled well.

Rough was about 1-3 inches and made you think. You won’t lose a ball in the rough, but it definitely comes into play on club selection.

Sand was some of the best I have seen in SD. I did find two hard pan bunkers. One in the fairway of 18 and the other next to the green in 7. I was surprised by the one on the 7th hole because it was right next to the green. Still able to get out pretty easy from both. The rest had lots of nice white sand. My partner said it was a little to lose for his liking and he had some difficulty getting out of a few bunkers.

My only issue would be the price. Paid a decent rate because of the tournament but don’t think the course is worth the rack rate. If you find a good deal, then play early!

Played today at 1:39pm, $37 via their website. Was joined by two of the nicest, most fun guys I can recall being blindly paired up with - one local and one on holiday from Canada...so, a very fun round.

They sent us off on #10 due to the Crossings' "Hits and Giggles" weekly 9-hole beer league w/shotgun outing taking place on the back 9 later in the day. Starting on the very tight #10 with your first drive is not very welcome!

Course overall has taken a nice step up in condition from my last visit. Tees, fairways and especially the greens were lush and cut nicely. Fairways rolled well and greens did as well, at mostly medium-fast, with those navigating slopes certainly more slippery. Some significant discoloration on some greens (fungus?) did not seem to add any bumpiness. Rough was dense and penal. Not in any bunkers :)

A great day out on a mid-60's, cloudy and windy day. Defo recommend.

Staff is very helpful and the cart barn guys are fun to talk with. I always play here first off so I never use the range or practice facilities other than the putting green. The do have a decent bar up top in the clubhouse, but the halfway house never seems to have ice in the mornings.

Greens:
I wont comment on the layout of the greens, because they can be rollercoasters! Greens were rolling relatively fast and true. Something is going on with green #8 and #12; some sort of fungus/disease is killing some parts. Greens are crossings are always very receptive and soft. Later in the day I can imagine these greens would be super bumpy from all the footprint spike marks that appear as you walk around.

Fairways:
The fairways were very firm and well maintained. They provided very nice rollout and good lies for iron shots. No bare spots observed. Nothing too tricky about the fairways here but there are a good amount of blind tee shots, so if you have never played here before the tee shots can be super intimidating.

Bunkers:
Bunkers were well maintained and very fine-grained beach sand. They were uniform all throughout the course and that includes the practice facilities. The sand here is white and fluffy but in some areas it is just too deep to the point of your feet getting buried when trying to get stances in some of the green-side bunkers.

Tee Boxes:
Flat and lush. Very Level and well maintained. No excess divots or bare spots.

Rough:
About 1.5" long and somewhat thick. Depending on how it was sitting, the rough was deep/thick enough to produce crazy fliers or dead shots. Not too tough to get a club through at all.

Overall:
One of the San Diego courses that is on my regular rotation. I feel that it is a solid deal for the price!
