Nice layout near the ocean with normally decent conditions. Nice and quiet course with little to no homes or buildings on the course. Anyone should have a positive day out here because of the atmosphere. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are normally all in better than average condition. Most people here follow etiquette and play the appropriate tees and not slow down play.

Had a 715 tee time yesterday and the course is in good shape right now. Fairways, greens, and Rough all in good to great shape with the greens rolling great and were still smooth this early in the AM. Still took 4+ hours and we were the 6th or so group off. People are so slow. Traps were in great shape but still no rakes. I think the only problem today was the tee boxes. They are starting to have some that are getting very unlevel, especially where they put the markers. They will need to address this sooner than later.
Great day and course is in good shape.

Played here yesterday with a 7:30 tee time. I’d won a free M-Th round in a photo contest several months ago and was finally able to use it yesterday. Check in went smoothly and I was paired with a threesome whose third never showed up, so we just played as three. POP was good at around 4:00. Friendly, proactive staff all around. Started as a typical Carlsbad overcast morning and cleared partially by the back nine. Only mention it because the few ocean views were obscured. Conditions are really nice, highlighted by excellent greens. They ran smooth, medium-fast, were receptive to well-struck shots. No pool noodle or PVC pipe in the cups, so it felt odd to reach all the way to the bottom of the cup to retrieve your ball. Fairways are semi-dormant bermuda with good coverage providing somewhat tight lies. Rough was a little more of a mixed bag with some areas a couple inches deep and other thin areas. Bunkers and blue tee boxes were all good. I think I like this course more each time I play it… except maybe the opening tee shot. It’s one of the more intimidating/demanding opening tee shots of any course I know. Also, the routing is unfortunate, requiring you to drive the entire length of a hole twice in a three-hole span (10-12), not to mention many other long drives between greens and tees. But unless you’re a stickler for a tight routing, you’ll enjoy yourself here. The back-to-back par 5s at Nos. 15 and 16 are really cool, especially the jaw-dropping tee shot from the blues or blacks on the 16th.

Played Crossings at Carlsbad Sunday morning 9:36 5/2 check in was simple and easy staff gave me a shuttle ride to the driving range to hit a few a balls. I played with Henry, Tom and Tina who were very nice playing partners. Henry and I chose the white tees and the other 2 chose the forward tees. For the first hour it was rainy and breezy which was unexpected and rather cold, we did our best to stay dry and warm because I wore shorts because foolish me I didn’t check the weather. Reading a previous review of this course I didn’t think the fairways were bad at all, I thought they were firm but you could still take a divot. There wasn’t too much rough to speak of unless you were off the fairways on certain holes you may lose a ball due to being unplayable or OB. I was in a few bunkers and there were nice compact sand that you could hear the “thump” after hitting a good bunker shot. The greens were in outstanding shape, putts rolled true and held shots well. We played in just over 4 hours, and I paid 75.00 to ride because I have a JC players card. The course overall was in great condition ( at least to me) and I had a great time with nice people and would definitely play her again.

2nd time I've played this course, and it might be the last. Played 10 holes in just over 3 hours here on Friday afternoon. I know that this is a resort course and that Friday PM is a busy time, but there is zero reason it should take this long. They made a point to tell us that they had 404 golfers going out AFTER 12pm that day. When you're waiting 10-15 minutes on EVERY shot...you know you're overbooked. For what they charge ($90 for socal resident), you could easily space the tee times out further. I think the other downgrading factor here - being that Legoland is so close - people who shouldn't be playing this course are out here. People who shoot 100+ shouldn't be playing the tough up/down courses with high slope ratings, OR, should have a standard "if I lose it, i'll drop from up ahead" mentality instead of climbing through bushes and spending so much time searching for the balls. When we decided to bail, we drove through 11-18 in hopes we'd find an empty hole or two and play a few more, but it was packed and people were waiting at every hole. Like traffic on the 405, i'd avoid this every time I can going forward.

Course itself was in decent shape - boxes were pristine. Fairways were awful (maybe just dormant?) but the greens were immaculate. Would play on these greens anytime. Just not with the god awful pace of play.

Tee time at 11a on Sunday took 5h15m. I get that it's the prime time for the week, but that's pretty bad in my opinion. Saw a marshal only twice. The first time, all he said was something like "Everyone is in front of everyone else" (I guess implying there is nothing they can do). It only got slower from there though. Didn't see the marshal again until hole 17 and nothing was said. It's getting pretty bad at SD public courses with all the new players. I get that marshals don't want to spoil a good time for paying customers. But I think there's a nice way to do it. And also if you just show up more than twice a round, that alone will probably make people aware of their pace.

Played on Saturday the 6th and the course is in good winter shape. Fairways are in good shape with some divot damage starting to really show on some of the holes where most balls end up but overall fairly good shape. Rough is short and inconsistent but can be penal at times around the greens. Greens were in good shape and rolled medium fast and held shots well. Traps all had plenty of sand and were in good shape. Smooth check in and lots of opportunity to get a beer. Finally open on the patio and had a some wings that helped round out the day.

Overall in fair/good shape and ok for the Carlsbad resident rate but if I was paying $100 bucks, I would be disappointed.

Greens are in good shape with little divot damage and rolling true and medium, not nearly as fast as other greens in the area but still nice for this course.
Overall OK shape and playing ok, but compared to others like arrowood, not nearly as good.
Great customer service and a great day to play but might not be as worth the fee right now as some other spots.

First time playing here yesterday. Course is in decent shape and plays shorter than the yardage because good roll out on Bermuda hybrid fairways. My main complains are (1) have to walk a long way to carry bag to cart area and to practice range (2) Architect did horrible job with course routing: There are some holes where it is over half a mile from green to next tee! (3) Unnecessary steep slopes around greens where you are risking your life getting out of the cart and walking to green (4) lots of blind shots. I hate blind shots.
