Played the Blues (6369/70.9/131) as a 2some with Rat-Patrol in slightly over 4H on a very windy afternoon with temperatures around 70. I used the Rams Hill B-Day special, allowing me to play for the $20 cart fee. Thank you Rams Hill! The wind really swirls here, it was changing direction from shot to shot and gusting. I was clubbing up 3 clubs into the wind late in the day. Concerning course conditions, everything was in the 9-10 out of 10 range across the board. The tees were very well maintained. Large, level with few divots, mowed down close, near immaculate. The fairways were lush with few divots. A couple of discolored areas but still excellent overall. The rough was also very lush. Thick and even though the ball usually sat up, long enough to make longer clubs a chancy play. Get outside the maintained rough and the native rough is lost ball thick. The sand traps were immaculately maintained with good quality sand. I don't see how a public course in a windy area could maintain their traps any better, and there are close to 100 of them total on this course. The greens were excellent! Firm, smooth, medium fast and rolled well. The customer service was excellent. We were greeted in the parking lot on arrival and offered a ride to our car after the round. The pro shop staff was also excellent. The setup of the all grass driving range with the complementary Pro-V range balls is top notch even for a high end facility. Most of the range is sand, with numerous grass greens set up as targets in 25-30 yard increments so you could hit almost any club and feel like you were hitting into a green. I like the course layout, I can see the high slope rating. Many holes are visually intimidating with 97 well placed traps and a decent amount of water. Four different sets of tees for men, all varied by 400-500 yards. The course was fair, not overly tight and an excellent test of golf. Definitely recommended!

Fantastic course! Mike Setchell is doing a great job out there. The place is a must see and absolutely worth the drive. Conditions are wonderful. Great mix of short and long holes and the routing together with the routing provides all different types of wind directions. You will not be disappointed. And the food is top notch.

Rams Hill in Borrego Springs is worth the drive. Played at around noon for the price of $138 for a twosome. Course is in GREAT SHAPE!! Fairways are quite large and friendly. Watch out for the many bunkers. I was able to avoid them the whole round. I did notice the sand was very nice. Greens are fast a a little tricky. Still no snack stand at the turn. I highly recommend this course for all player levels.

Also the layout is entertaining and offers a great mix of opportunities/challenges. The bunkers are beautiful and challenging to play from which adds to the excitement when you pull it off well. This course is not only the best course in San Diego, but is the best course I have ever played!

(sorry for delayed review again) Played on a beautiful sunny/cool, Sun. 4/24 with 9:00 tee time (Used an UnderPar coupon $149 for 2 w/cart same day replay). Was in awe of this beautiful course from the moment of arrival. Class Act course from start to finish. Arrived early and enjoyed the grass driving range w/pyramids of golf balls (and a never seen by me feature... range scope attached to each club stand -- Very Neat!). Nice little chipping area as well. Good sized Practice green adjacent to the 1st Tee Box/Starter. Was sent out a little early @ 8:40 with another twosome, and our pace of play was quite comfortable. Felt a little rushed at one point with a twosome behind us, and so we simply had them play through. Really was no where ahead for them to go, and they were in no rush either, but it just seemed like the best thing to do to better enjoy our round. Tee boxes were perfect, level/lush. Fairways were immaculate...seed bottles had a green seed mix which I'm sure kept the divots from being an issue. Balls sat up so nicely, making iron shots effortless. Rolled verrrrrrrry nicely; especially if you caught a nice downward slope. Bunkers were a plenty and for the most part sand was consistent throughout...only a couple I were in were a little packed down, but great to see most were raked by golfers finding their way in/out of them earlier. Rough was lush 1-3" and club selection key to getting out well. Can't say enough about the Pro Course quality feel of this course... Layout is one continuous loop so be prepared in the event no cart girl. We were happy to see a Cart Lady making the rounds (saw her twice). No Marshal - not that one was needed as POP was GREAT. Carts were equipped with ball/club washer and cooler with ice and 2 bottles of water - No GPS. There were water/ice stations on course as well. Saw a "Coming Soon" plan for a snack bar/restroom station on the 9th, which will really take this course one more step toward perfection (in my opinion). Greens were firm and even well hit shots could end up on/off the back/front. Not many double/triple tierd greens. Several bowl type greens would reward if shots went long, hit the back and rolled back down, on, and close to the pin; while others would stick/stay. No significant ball damage at all, and balls rolled consistent/true, fast/medium fast speeds throughout. Course certainly has some challenging holes and placement of bunkers throughout requiring a well thought out strategic game plan. Wind can certainly play a factor as it starts to kick up mid-day. By our back 9 it truly became a factor in drives/putting. (Main reason we didn't opt for a 2nd round - wasn't because we didn't enjoy our round...quite the contrary...LOVED IT!) The Staff here are TOP SHELF! From the young man that took our clubs upon arrival, to check in at the lovely Pro shop; young man that cleaned our clubs afterwards, and even in to the comfortable bar/restaurant (Yummy). Hostess, Server, Busboys VERY attentive and friendly. I forgot my phone in the cart and they quickly sent someone down to search/retrieve it for me. I can't say enough of how impressed I was with this gorgeous diamond in the desert. Spectacular in every way...Scored one of my best rounds here...which I attribute to the course conditions. Definitely one of my Top 5 Favs for sure...can't wait to go back and give this Fabulous course another go round...just this novice golfin gals humble review.

Not much has changed since GK outing back in January. Greens rolled fast, smooth , and true. Fairways are outstanding. I just love this course, everything is just perfect.
Pace of play 4.00.

Overall course was in fantastic shape.

Second time out at Ram Hills and it never amazes me how gorgeous this place is.
We arrived early morning and there were already so many people on the course. Turns out there was an event going on.

Went to grab some breakfast items and was greeted by such a sweet lady who took really good care of us. Staff both from golf and food side was excellent. After breakfast, we checked in for our slot and was on time teeing off.

Knowing where to hit the ball and where to miss made such a big difference in playing this course. I was worried about the conditions as there was a big downpour early in the morning but looks like the course drains really well as there was no issues 2 hours after the rain stopped. At first I was thinking they will impose CPO but they did not and course was just perfect. Greens was medium fast and Smooth! bunkers were a bit wet but well stocked. Conditions overall was great. POP was about 4:35 due to the group event but with the view and the nice weather, can't really complain much. Saw 2 different marshals which was reassuring, bev cart once.

Maybe only point of improvement would be to build a regular restroom between 9 and 18. the portapotty on 12 just does not cut it for a course of this caliber.

After the round, we stayed to grab some lunch. Food was great, prices decent, service prompt. Lady from morning came by to say hi which was nice. Everyone had a great time here.

I really like this course and definitely will drive 3 hours to play here again. Such a fun place to play. See you next time.

Played Rams Hill 4/1/16. Met hype expectations and then some. Got 2 for $149 deal through Underpar so you just can't beat a round there for $75. Rented Golf scooter for $25!! Takes a few holes to get used too but LOVED IT! Course immmaculate as was expected. Greens fast so shoot for middle to avoid false fronts or rolling off the back! Already bought my next $75 round. Well worth the 1 1/2 hr drive from Temecula, CA.

Posted at 11.5. Were all that and more when going down hill. Only perfectly struck shots had any stopping power and you had to be cautious when shooting to front pin and back edge locations. They ran smooth and true. Fairway's were emerald green & lush. Noticed a few fairway's starting to firm up. Bunkers & tees perfect and consistent. Not many people out so we played at very leisurely pace and enjoyed the views. The course was in overall fantastic shape
