Played 7/3 for the first time in a while. The course was in pretty good shape. Greens were rolling pretty good, with the exception of a few unrepaired ball marks. Bunkers were the best I've seen here. The fairway on 16 was amazing. Good job guys. I'll be back soon.

Played BuenaVentura from the Black Tees this morning with BigSwede...they have a special running at 11am for $22.00 to walk on Mondays. Pace of play was slow today as we finished in 4 hours 45 minutes on a 6000yd course which we usually finish in well under 4 hours. The greens were super slow and had some very light sand on them on the front nine. The fairways were in decent to good shape with some areas of dampness to them and very few areas of hard pan. The rough is very thick along the fairways and I really enjoyed that aspect of the course. The sand here is excellent in the traps. Some of the tees are not level but they were not too bad. Great staff as always in the pro-shop....I will be out again to work on the short game and I hope that they cut the greens some in the meantime.

Played Buena this morning with Toprank, Robstretch and Lkygsx. Thanks guys that was a blast and the weather was beautiful. Buena was tame this morning with very little wind. Not a big hitters course with treeline fairways, undulating greens and some challenging rough. The fairways were in decent shape today. There are still some hardpan areas out there that should be roped off and there was some damage in #10 fairway. But for the most part the fairways are green and playable. The greens are in very nice shape rolling to about an 8...the putting green currently rolls quicker than the course greens. The greens hold iron shots beautifully. This place has many bunkers surrounding the green complexes and is a great place to work on your flop shot. The bunkers are soft and deep....I had a fried egg on #14 where only maybe 10 percent of the ball was showing(lol)...so stay out of them with any high trajectory. The tees were all level and were in good shape. The pro-shop staff was wonderful and they had quite a few customers in the bar and grill and on the course today. If you want to work on your short game and accuracy off the tee this is the place to come.

Out this morning 5/3/2010...they have a twilight special on Monday's starting at 10am which I took advantage of. I have read some recent reviews about some poor conditions here. I was pleased to find that most of the fairways were nice here....only a few minor patches of sod here and there and not that many wet areas that were roped off. I was in two bunkers today and the sand was in good shape. The tees are level here for the most part and you can always hunt for some grass on them...just a few tees needed some more sod. The rough was up around the fairways but you could still hit out if it pretty easily. The greens held decently and putted slow for my taste....this course has very undulating greens on many holes and will really test your putting game if they are rolling fast. The greens were in decent to good shape with not that many ballmarks. Our group of 3 played the course in 3 hours 45 minutes which was a great pace of play. Starter in the pro-shop was very nice and the weather was great....Buena with its new management might be turning things around.

Saturday morning tee time of 8:45, but they did not get us out until 9:20. Rather matter of fact and could care less of the 35 minute delay. Nice pace of play once we finally got out, finished in 4:15. Course was over watered with lots of standing water in the fairways. Greens rolled "OK" (fairly smooth, soft, and medium speed). Great rate of $41 with cart thru golfnow.

I meant to write a review for this course when I played about three weeks ago on January 31, 2010. Just got in 18 before dark with Moneysworth and kilt1iron. Course conditions were fine.

Out late afternoon Aug 18th. Figured after the rain, maybe the course would have perked up. Guess need a new calculator- not certain what is going on at BV [pending ownership change?]- after 3 years/6.5MM investment into this track it's a pity to see no real attempt to improve. Ironically, the guy I paired up with drove in from Santa Clarita [86*]- and did not seem to mind the conditions...the rough had not seen a blade since the mid-week rains leaving up to 5" in some spots...poor guy most have lost a box of balls...the usual fairway conditions in the same fairways...tee boxes were particularly hammered that day [thin, muddy]...
For locals at a supertwilight rate BV is fine and gives a chance to score on difficult conditions-
Customer service is always friendly and accomodating- guess we'll see what happens to the track when new management takes over.
