Played 8-29-15 and 8-30-15 early morning in a tournament in a little under 5 hours both days. Tee boxes were in good shape , level and lush except for 3 which was a little thin. Fairways are very nice and lush with an occasional bare spot. Rough is between 2- 4 inches and very thick. Sandtraps had nice firm sand. Greens were rolling very smooth with medium/fast speed, and holding shots real nice. Overall course is in real nice shape, not as good as it could be but still better than most other courses.

Played 27 holes Sun 8/23 9AM w/GK coupon. Fantastic deal, Thank you, GK. My first time playing here. After reading all the rave reviews, it was time to see what all the hype was about. La Purisima did not disappoint and now i know why some like it so much. Great layout in a picturesque setting, you really feel like your out there with only the sounds of the local wildlife. Very mountainous course with a stunning backdrop of rolling hills and blue sky's. No two holes the same with challenging aspects everywhere. Lots of blind shots making course knowledge a premium here. Several times reaching the fairway and realizing that there was room after standing on tee box not knowing where to hit it. Played the front 9 twice and it left me wanting more and really appreciating the required lines off the tees. Fun layout that is hard and fair once you know hoe to play it. The conditions of this course was outstanding with lush full coverage throughout. The green were really nice to putt on visually pleasing. Bunker were nice to play from with plenty of sand and for the most part raked and ready to catch errant shots. Overall top notch experience and i cant wait to get back to La Purisima for another go at it.

More golf up north (for me), this time at one of my all time favorites, La Purisima in beautiful Lompoc. Played 3 rounds in total (8/20 and 8/22) with varied PoP, from 4 to 4.5 hrs. When the wind comes up, the course plays very differently, and management means everything here. Must keep it in play or you get in the rough and it can be a chore from there to get par. As previously mentioned, LP is struggling through this drought so condition wise it's a cut below her potential, especially when you get away from the fairway where there's hard pan and burrowing animal mounds. But the bones are still strong, greens are rolling nice and fun is to be had by all for sure. Bunkers I visited were in decent shape, too. Would play here a whole bunch if they'd moved it to LA Co. but then again I'd have to pay triple the green fees. Plus, the beauty of the course is the country feel with no homes anywhere close, just open fields. Just a peach of a course: I can't say anything bad because I enjoy this track so much, just get some water here this fall/winter. Hey, they are building a couple of cottages for overnight stay and play options just west of the 1st tee, which I think would be so cool.

Played 5-4-15 early morning using the GK coupon $49 which includes cart and unlimited play. Played 36 in a little under 4 hours. Course is in real nice shape. Tee boxes are in good shape , with a few of the three pars being a little un-level. Fairways were very nice and lush with some minor dried out areas. Rough is growing up nice and long and thick, a real challenge around the greens. Sand traps have plenty of nice heavy sand, which really lets you be aggressive. Greens are firm and rolling true with medium fast speed. The coupon makes this course a steal, and with some more big tournaments coming up I look for the conditions to only get better.

Played approx. 9:45am on Saturday morning. had the Golf Moose deal and even though the course was basically empty due to the ongoing rain, they charged us an additional $15 each to go out before noon. Kinda bush league, but okay..rules are rules I suppose.

A little challenging to really review a course you are playing in pouring rain, but I will try to be fair.

Layout was pretty interesting, but this is a course designed for walkers...not carts. Slightly confusing getting around there as a first timer, but we managed.

Greens were very nice...rain slowed them down a bit, but they were rolling nice and smooth.

Fairways were super nice and lush through out....

Bunkers - great sand...no issues here

Rough - ouch....now that's some long, thick rough.

will have to play this again to get a better feel and sense of the beauty out here, but the weather definitely influenced our perspective.

I can see why folks rave over this course, even in crappy weather you had this sense that this is a special place.

I was hankering to use the unlimited use coupon for La Purisima and none of my golfing buds wanted to do a day trip, so I came up alone. First off walking solo on a Thursday morning like I was Weber (7:10AM, $49 all day w/cart, thanks, Johnny!), got around in a bit over 3 hours. Hooked up with some youngsters from SactoSt who could ball, I mean really hit with some distance and accuracy ... fun to play with ... out at 11AM and done by 3PM. Greens rolled medium speed in the AM and fast in the PM, true, a tad firm but otherwise in very good condition. Fairways have some patchy fungi type stuff happening in some areas but did not effect any of my lies, rough about 2 in. deep, mostly playable today unless your ball sat down, then it's just a hack out. Coot crap everywhere on the second fairway, water level is very low. 3rd tee box needs extensive repairs. Bunkers wet but good condition, tee boxes need some attention ... especially the blacks. Altogether, just a fantastic day at LP. Great service, food, and a GK deal that can't be beat. They're hosting the Canadian Pro Q-School in April so expect improved conditions and some closures. Recommended.

Played 2-10-15 with Nickesquire. Teed of at noon and finished in 4 hours. Tees are getting better but still need a little work. Fairways are nice and lush for the most part with a few areas that need a little more care. Rough is staring to grow out again and can be real tough to hit from. Sand traps had nice heavy sand and good to hit from. Greens had been verticut last week but you could not tell. Rolling very true with medium/fast speed. Each trip up here I see more improvement in the course, hoping they get it back to its pristine glory days. People in the pro shop are some of the best around, always friendly and helpful.

Played the blues (6670/73.1/136) with RGM2525 in 4 hours on a GolfNow Hot Deal for $24.49 including a cart. Teed of @ noon on our 2nd 18 of the day. We did not wait a shot all afternoon, in beautiful, windy, partly cloudy weather around 70 degrees. First off, the whole course looked much better than it did the last time I played here several years ago. The greens putted nice, medium fast and held approach shots well. The fairways had good coverage. There were a couple of juniors out on divot damage patrol, which was sorely needed on many fairways. The rough was mostly lush with occasional hardpan or thin lies. It would go from not too bad, to thick and hard to advance more than a short iron to lost ball or hardpan in relatively small areas. The traps were well maintained with nice sand. Many of the tees were chewed up and a few could really use leveling. Not up to the standards of the rest of the course. The customer service was excellent, they got us right out when we arrived ahead of our prepaid tee time. No drink cart person. This course is VERY unforgiving on crooked shots, you can accumulate penalty shots in bunches here if you are more than about 10 yards left or right of almost any fairway. Many holes have hazards down one or both sides. Many holes have elevation changes and forced carries over hazards, and it is often windy to very windy. This is not a course for beginners. If you want to be challenged, this is a very picturesque course that is usually not super crowded. This layout absolutely eats me alive like no other course I have ever played. Good thing I putted very well today, or an ugly round could have been positively grotesque.

Always look forward to playing this course! Stacy in the proshop is simply wonderful. I wish all golf course staff people were like her. She just "gets it"

Course is better condition than when I last played here in mid November. The recent rains really made the course lush and beautiful to look at. Some areas still in need of care, but overall, closer to what I remember the course being like ..... condition wise. Some of the bunkers weren't too great, and some greens had numerous unrepaired ball marks. ( Come on people - fix'em) Some of the rough areas were very inconsistant with respect to length, but if I kept it in the fairway, it wouldn't be an issue.
