I need to begin by stating that La Purisima is one of my favorite courses. I make certain to make the drive from OC at least once a year to play it. That said, I have played this course since it opened and have never seen it in worse condition. I read Ron's recent review, and it was like we played a different course ? They forgot to turn off the sprinklers, so EVERY greenside bunker was flooded, and the areas which were not under water were like mud ? Ok, things happen, and that was just a mistake, but you could see they were just not good despite that happening. The tee boxes (blue, which I played and red which my bride hit from were simply awful ! Bare areas everywhere. But the worst part of the course was just the general "scruffy appearance" The course just looked neglected. Like it was in the final stages before being closed ??? Perhaps because it was foggy and everything was so wet, there was mud everywhere? Never seen the course like this in all the years I've been coming here ? Staci in the pro shop however was the one shinning aspect of the day. She is such a pleasure to deal with. She is one of the reasons I make the 200 mile drive. I pray that this was just an aberration and the next time I return (And I will return) the course will be the sprarkling jewel I have come to love.

Played 11-6-21 early morning walking as a single in a little under 3 hours. Blue tee boxes were in good shape, mostly level with some divot damage on par threes. Fairways were green and lush with nice lies and minimal roll out. There were some bare and thin spots that were being worked on. Rough was 1-3 inches along fairways and around greens, it is very lush and thick with the ball sitting down at times. Was in one greenside bunker that had a good layer of heavy brown sand that was nice to hit out of. Greens are almost healed from being punched, they were semi-soft and rolling medium pace with an occasional bump. Overall course is in good condition , highly recommend playing.

Played 9-7-21 early morning walking as a single for $35 and finishing in a little over 2 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were in decent shape, mostly level with a few having some bare spots but markers were set where the turf was in good condition. Fairways were lush and green with great lies and decent roll out, there were a few minor bare and thin spots but nothing major. Rough was cut down pretty low and very easy to hit from. Was not in any bunkers but they looked well groomed and in decent shape. Greens are definitely the best part of the course, they are in great shape right now, rolling pure and smooth at medium/fast pace, and playing semi-soft. Great service, great conditions, great setting, get out and play.

Played mid morning with Vince teeing off about 9:15 after hitting a few balls then off to the range. Staci wasn’t calling anyone to the tee she said go when you’re ready. I only saw 2 walkers and a twosome in a cart in front of them otherwise it was clear sailing. We played in just under 4 hours under a beautiful sunny central coast Friday. Tee boxes are nice and level and with the exception of 1 and 2 almost every fairway has some sort of uphill, sidehill, downhill lie. The greens were medium fast holding shots well. Sand was questionable, all depends on your lie a few I was in had some small rocks and pebbles. The restaurant is closed but they have sandwiches in the pro shop. The course seemed to be in great shape and it is always nice to get to play when I can, shame that I live four hours away. Highly recommended

Walked the blacks this morning 6/19/21 at 10:20am with my buddy Pedro with beautiful weather 1 club wind low 70s Temps. Pop was 4 hrs 25 minutes. Thanks to Stacy and her staff which are very friendly for getting us out during a crowded morning.

The greens were very soft today and held shots very well, Very receptive greens. The greens rolled true. I have seen them quicker. Rated 7/10.

Fairways had good coverage mostly lush. Rated 7.5/10

Tees were in good shape. Black tee on 9 was wet. Most tees were level. Rated 7/10

The rough here does not look long to the naked eye as you are addressing the ball but it is grabby and can be challenging. Rated 7/10

Was in a couple greenside bunkers that had crusty clay like light brown color sand that I loved as there was a nice base to splash out of. Plenty of rakes in each bunker. Rated 7/10

I only missed 3 fairways today on 1, 8 and 10. Every fairway I was in other than hole 11 I encountered a downhill, uphill or sidehill lie. That's one of the beauty and challenges of this course.

Highly recommended and would be my home course if it was not an hour and 45 minutes away.

Played 3-31-21 early morning walking as a twosome and finishing in a little under 3 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were in nice condition with good coverage and mown tight. Fairways were in very good shape with decent roll out and nice lies that had good cushioning. Rough was in good shape along fairways, about 2 inches and lush. Rough around greens is in really good condition, its thick and lush at about 2-3 inches. Was in one greenside bunker that was in really good condition, nicely groomed with a good layer of heavy brown sand. Greens were rolling very smooth at medium/slow pace, they were a little on the firm side and in great shape. As usual staff is excellent and very friendly. Highly recommend playing.

Went out and played 36 holes at La Purisima with RGM2525 on a picture perfect (weather wise) day. This was my second time playing here and I really like the course. The layout is tough, scenic yet a blast to play. There’s plenty of variety throughout the track especially on the par 4’s. A number of the holes require strategic placement off the tee with less than driver. Add in elevation changes throughout the entire course, a few lakes and several oak trees lining the fairways and you have winning combination.

Greens are probably 95%+ healed from their spring aeration earlier this month. Greens were obviously in excellent condition and rolled very smooth at a medium fast pace. Greens held well struck approach shots and even some poorly struck shots! The greens at La Purisima sneak up on you and bite hard! They look fairly tame but trust me they are hard to read with several subtle breaks that as soon as the ball looses speed make an about face and run!

Fairways were nice and green. Mainly lush with an occasional thin area here and there. Most of the rough was manageable and only a couple inches thick. No issues with the tee boxes and the issues I had with the sand traps had nothing to do with the quality of sand! Most traps had a medium depth of sand in them that allowed plenty of room to get a club under.

POP was fine. We waited on few shots on both rounds but still finished the two rounds in about 7 hours. Customer service was excellent. La Purisima is definitely highly recommended. I plan to get out and play it more often.

Ventured out to La Purisma yesterday to play some golf with Apisarski, Gregholla, and Fastfish433 on a cold 36º morning with no frost delay. We had some golf moose certificates that we decided to use and it makes the course 100% worth it. It had been a few years since I played here last (gk event) and I didn't remember much of the course. I quickly started to realize that accuracy is key here especially on the front nine. The course is a little hilly and has no homes on site which is very nice and it gives you a pure golf feeling. Carts are basic with no GPS and they have golf boards as well as a new motorcycle that Apisarski paid the $25 to use. He has a blast using it and may have had more fun just goofing around with it than golf.

As for conditions there are pretty decent right now with the highlight being the greens. They rolled perfectly smooth and medium pace. I did not see a single divot or issue all day with the quality of the greens, easily a solid 9/10. The fairways were mostly good with a few areas here and there that were thin but usually decent to hit from. Rough was a mixed bag, short by the fairway and a touch longer near the greens. Tee boxes, we played the combos and noticed that they were a little chewed up today Nothing terrible but they needed to be moved. I was in one sand trap and it was almost like beach sand a little heavy and wet but nice to play from.

The facilities are nice and they snack shop was open with a full menu plus a good deal on beer. Driving range is very beat up and I am not sure there was any play to move the boxes because the entire range was chewed up. I assume they are focusing on the course itself but the range needs a little TLC. The girl in the proshop was super friendly and looked to be working all alone even calling out the players to the tee box so props to her for working hard.

Fairways were in nice shape with some thin and bare spots here and there, but mostly provided good lies with decent roll out. Rough was in good condition, 2-3 inches and thick around greens and a little shorter along fairways with a few longer areas. Was in one greenside bunker that had a good layer of heavy brown sand. Greens were in great shape, soft and receptive, rolling medium/fast and smooth. Overall course is very green and in nice shape.
