This has been one of my local courses for a few years now and I made this account only to say GREAT WORK GUYS! I have never played this course in as good of condition as I did today. The team at LP has worked hard to restore most of the bunkers as well as manicure a consistent 2in cut of rough throughout the course. Greens were excellent, not rolling faster than about 10 but very smooth with minimal pitch marks given their firmness. I’ve always respected the design of this course and I’d certainly consider it a championship track that is a fair test of golf, although very difficult, especially with windy conditions year round. The only thing I’d say is that the amount of sand in the new bunkers is extensive and the chances of fried egg are high if the ball carries directly into it. I’m sure that will improve over time as the sand settles in during the winter though. Unfortunately, today was one of the worst scoring rounds I’ve ever had here (from the Black tees) but just have to shrug it off and get back out asap before aerification. Again, great work team just an amazing improvement from what was already a good course!

Played here for the first time today, with a bunch of friends from my golf club. We all used vouchers from GolfMoose that got us two players with cart for $99 (so $50 each). That’s definitely a great deal for this course, because it is a great course, in very good shape.

It was morning and cloudy/foggy when we started, so front nine was very cool and wet. But aside from that, course conditions were great. No complaints on any aspect of the course. It is indeed a championship golf course. I had heard it was a challenging course, and it lived up to the hype. Very challenging layout, even from the white tees. I can only imagine how tough it must play from the black tees.

What makes it so tough is all the dog legs, many of which have trees or bunkers strategically placed in the fairways, so you have to be accurate with your tee shots. And if you miss the fairway, the rough isn’t overly penal right now, but I’m sure it could be if they wanted it to. Beyond the rough is some really nasty stuff on some holes, either tall grass, or bushes, or actual hazard areas. There are also lots of elevation changes throughout the course, and some holes have side slants, leaving side hill lies. In summary, it’s a course that is just very demanding. You have to hit good shots, or else you will be punished. But that’s what makes it great. It’s a good test of every aspect of your game.

How many superlatives can you give this course? Every time I play this course, it only reinforces why I can justify the 200-mile drive to travel there. Additionally, Staci in the pro shop is an absolute joy to deal with. Because the power had gone out and they were unable to water for a couple days, Staci advised that they had to saturate the course this morning, so as a result, it was rather wet out there today. Otherwise, the course was just a pleasure to play. Greens rolled well, but were much slower than usual, but super receptive. Fairways were nice, but as I indicated, very wet. Found three bunkers and all were well maintained. Some areas in the rough were rather "juicy", but playable. Several tees were a bit beat up. Out early, so no issue with pace of play. Plus, no heat which was welcome. But with all the watering, the course was just so green and beautiful under blue sunny skies. Just a wonderful morning of golf on a wonderful golf course.

We had 7 of our Saturday Golf Friends group play La Purisima yesterday 8/20/22. The overall course is in really good condition. Very lush everywhere with fairways in great condition, rough right off the fairways were at least 3 inches thick and the greens were super smooth and FAST!! Very tricky greens with a lot of subtle break that is hard to read. If you are looking for a challenging course then La Purisima is it.!! Oh... and get the Tri Tip sandwich at the turn!! Jason in the Grill does a killer job!!

Played La Purisima yesterday with RGM2525 in their RWBB tournament. First off, hats off to La Purisima for having Very reasonable tournament rates! Check in was friendly and fast. Course layout is excellent with the entire course winding through the hillside. A number of water hazards add to the serenity of this track that sits a few miles outside of town and his house free.

Conditions were spot on from tee to green. I was pleasantly surprised at how green and lush the fairways were. Some were even soggy in the early morning. Yes there are a few brown spots here and there throughout the course but very few compared to most courses right now. Rough was super lush and only about 1-2 inches deep. Either I was lucky or the rough was that nice because I always had a great lie in the rough.

Greens are in excellent shape as well. They rolled smooth at a medium-fast pace and easily held well struck approach shots. Green complexes are tough but not severe. In fact they are undulated enough that you can fairly easily read the break, yet not so severe they are ridiculous.

Sand traps and a good amount of high quality sand in them. Throughout the day we played from all four sets of tees at one point or another and all were in good shape. Level and easy to get a tee in.

Have no doubt, La Purisima is a tough track, but it’s enjoyable to play for sure. Definitely worth the 15-20 minute detour off of highway 101 if in the area, and even worth making a special trip.

Played 4-30-22 early morning walking as a threesome and finishing in a little over 3 1/2 hours with no waiting, and no one behind us. Tee boxes were in decent shape, good coverage with some needing a bit of leveling. Fairways were very nice, green and lush with some minor bare spots, with great lies and decent roll out. Rough is real healthy right now, playing a couple inches longer than fairways and a little longer around the greens and very thick. New bunkers look great with nice fluffy white sand and make a real nice contrast to all the green grass. Greens right now are in great shape, the best I have seen them in a while, playing semi-soft and rolling so pure at medium fast pace.

First off on Tuesday morning at 7am. Temperature was 35 degrees in the parking lot, but the only restriction was cart path only for those who ride on the first two holes, otherwise, no issues. The greens were just recently aerated, which Staci did advise me when I made the tee time. The greens healed very well from the small tines, but because there was still quite a bit of residual sand/topdressing left, it made the greens really slow, and you needed to wipe the ball off prior to any putt.

Fairways were far better than when I played here in December. Hole #5 fairway had been aerated, and the plugs had not yet been picked up, so it was a muddy mess playing that hole, otherwise the course was in pretty nice shape. Bunkers much improved as well. Plenty of sand, well maintained.

Being one of my favorite courses, it is just such a pleasure to play this course. It is pure golf at its best. Difficult without being unfair. My only criticism is the removal of the fairway bunkers on the left side of #15. While it makes the hole much easier, the hole lost some of its character.

Played 1-29-22 early morning walking as a single, finishing in about 3 hours. Tee boxes were in good condition, mostly level with good coverage and cut tight. Fairways were in real nice shape, good roll out, nice lies with good padding. Rough was a couple inches longer than fairways, it was very lush and in good shape. All the greenside bunkers have been redone with nice light brown sand, they have even softened up a lot of the steep faces on them making it easier to get out of. Greens were in great shape, semi-soft and rolling pure at medium/fast pace. They have finished the new wood wall in front of the third green and re- sodded around the front of the green, it looks awesome. Overall condition of course is pretty good right now, and well worth playing.

Rode the blues this morning 11/27/2021 teeing off with my buddy Rgm2525 at 1040am under perfect weather conditions high 60 degree weather with a slight breeze. POP 3 hrs 20 minutes riding through 3 groups. La Purisma has super friendly staff, great food in their restaurant and a stellar challenging layout.

The course has many current improvements taking place like filling the bunkers with thick perfect beach like sand. They are also resodding and verticutting many of the tees which does not effect your stance at all. Some of the Tees were soggy but in playable shape. They have taken out mostly all the reeds in the lakes and they are building retaining walls around the lakes. The water in the lakes look clean and beautiful.

The fairways were mostly lush and in good shape with only minor areas thin or soggy.

The greens were healthy looking, rolling medium paced and pure and in very good shape. Only fixed an extra couple ballmarks.

Rough was thick up to 2 inches. Mainly uniform, green, lush and in good shape and even though I have seen it thicker it was still penalizing.

Come spring with all the new bunkers in place, tees reseeded and greens and fairways in their normal great shape this place will be off the hook nice. I'm a greens, rough and fairways rating type of guy and they were in good shape today.

Highly recommend playing here for the challenge, beauty and peace and quiet that Purisma presents.
