Played on Saturday, 8/10 with a late morning tee time. POP was around 5 hours 45 minutes to play 18. It was rather slow today. We had to wait to hit on every hole. Weather was a little chilly today with some fog and wind rolling through in the afternoon. It was a nice change to play from all the hot weather in the SFV.

Course was in great condition today. Tee boxes were fairly level with good grass coverage. The fairways were rather lush with real good coverage from tee to green. This is not an easy course to play. There are environmental sensitive areas off to the side where they don't allow carts but you can hit out of. There is water on this course but it doesn't come into play except on a couple of holes which had severe dog legs. Greens were in excellent shape today. Greens were rolling a little fast today. Course is rather flat. There were a lot of people walking today. Can't comment about the sand as I didn't land in any today, which is pretty good for me as there are a lot of bunkers on this course.

Other than the slow pace of play today, this has been one of my favorite courses to play. There is a driving range here but the golf shop and bathrooms are in trailers. There's not really a club house here. We had to go down the street to Buenaventura for the 19th hole.

Had a playing lesson this last weekend early morning first out. Olivas is in great shape right now. The greens had been slightly verticut on front nine but it did not effect putting or speed at all. Pure rolls, receptive soft greens. Back nine greens even rolled better and quicker. Some huge green complexes here.

Tee boxes were mostly level, lush and contained some divots on the par 3's. My student played the white tees which looked like they have more use.

Fairways were in fantastic shape with your ball sitting up beautifully. Lush grounds throughout.

Fairway rough is beautiful, nice and lush and in great shape.

Student was in 3 bunkers that were all raked, had a firm layer on top but beautiful beach sand underneath.

Highly recommend the conditions at Olivas right now.--go play.

My buddy and I played here today, teeing off at 11:45 a.m. as a twosome. $53 riding. We got there early and took advantage of the practice facilities: grass range, chipping green and large putting green. All in good condition. Evidence of recently micro-punched and verticut on select portions of the greens; however, pin locations were usually away from any maintenance and things have healed enough that it did not affect the roll. Great turf grass in all the fairways. Rough was mostly good until you strayed into the “naturalized” areas. It’s downright ugly in spots. Sure, you’re not supposed to hit into that stuff, but I guess we’re just not that good yet. Sand was good, although my buddy found a bunker on 7 fairway without a rake. Tees were nice and level. Thanks to fellow GKer, Sean, for allowing us to play through his foursome and another foursome letting us by, we finished by 3:20 p.m.

Played 6-25-19 early morning as a single on a TeeOff deal for $18 including cart and getting around the course in 1 hour and 40 minutes. Tee boxes were in good shape, good coverage and level. Fairways were also in good shape, lush with nice lies and decent roll out. They were punching the 14 fairway as I was playing and 15, 16, and 18 had also been punched recently but it did not effect play. Rough was very lush but not long and fairly easy to hit from. Was not in any bunkers but they looked in good shape and well groomed. Greens were very nice, rolling medium/fast and smooth, holding shoots very well, maybe the best shape I have seen them in in a while. Overall course in very good condition and worth a trip out to play.

First time here in many years. What a fun course! Holes are challenging yet fair, even from the white tees. Greens are great. Great practice facilities with grass driving range. Putting aside a few obnoxious people ahead of us playing a radio while we putted and their driving right next to greens and all over the teeboxes it was a great day. We plan to come back for sure!

This golf course is in great shape. It has a soft spot in my heart as this is where I took my PAT.

When the course first opened the rough outside the cartpaths was US Open rough. It is at least that outside of the cart paths in spots and even higher at present time. It is both breathtaking(wildflowers) and I think makes this course that much better and tougher. The rough just outside the fairways(inside the cart paths) was uniform, green, lush and beautiful. Rated 8.5/10.

The greens were the best I have seen them in years. I was so impressed by the greens. They putted medium to fast speed holding irons like darts. Rated 8/10

The tees were healthy, lush and all level. Great shape 8/10

The fairways were healthy, lush, green and in good shape. Rated 8/10

Was in 1 bunker left greenside on number 6 that was in great shape, raked with the perfect amount of sand. Bunkers are always usually in great shape here.

Played 4-23-19 Early morning on a TeeOff deal for $19 playing as a single and finishing in about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Tee boxes were in good shape, semi-lush and mostly level. Fairways were in very nice shape, great lies with good padding, but there is some divot damage on some of the holes. Rough along fairways was in good shape, mostly lush and about 2 inches, outside of that you get into the long heavy thick stuff. Was in one greenside bunker that had real nice soft white sand and was well groomed. Greens were in nice shape rolling mostly smooth at medium/slow pace and a little on the soft side. Overall conditions are real nice and should only improve in the summer.

Played this morning; heading out at about 6:50 a.m. Pace was fairly nice at about 2.5 hours. I followed a single walker, who was following a riding twosome. It could have been faster, but the slow pace allowed me to hit extra shots and putts for practice between holes. It was cold and clear this morning. Residual wetness in low areas. Good grass coverage from tee to green. Some of the deep rough has been mowed; other areas are kept rather long for punishment to errant shots. I found lots of divots to fill with the provided sand. I grabbed extra bottles and even filled two more bottles with bunker sand. There were so many divots on the third hole landing area in the left fairway near the bunker complex. Several greens had many areas of about 6" square repair areas throughout. Weird, but they must have been fixing something. The repair patches were decent enough, but need time to really grow in to match the adjacent turf. When I worked at Hansen Dam we would make repairs with turf from the edge of the green, then place the nursery patches there. Overall, the greens were nice. Soft and medium fast in the early morning; most likely getting quicker as the day wears on. There were only a few ball marks to fix; seriously though, there shouldn't be any if I'm the third or fourth golfer out. I played the white tees and I found they were fairly level and had a moderate amount of abuse, especially the par threes. I had no real issues with finding a place to tee from, but I wouldn't say they were all completely level. Bunker sand was really nice. I had to hit from the fairway bunker on hole 3 and had no issues. Other bunkers found some of my practice balls and they all looked decent. I paid $43 to ride and I think that is a good price. I'd pay that any day for prime time golf. I could have found a better rate if I had found a partner or two earlier in the week as there were deep discounts on Teeoff. I think I had almost booked it last Wednesday for $33/player, but no takers.

First off on a very cold morning at 6:30am. Thanks to the starter Frank for allowing us to get out 15 minutes early. This is one of my very favorite courses ! It just "fits my eye".

First off on a very cold morning at 6:30am. Thanks to the starter Frank for allowing us to get out 15 minutes early. This is one of my very favorite courses ! It just "fits my eye".

Course is in overall good condition. Still showing some residual wetness from last week's rain, but nothing of issue. The greens rolled very well, but strange that not even one green had been mowed ? They were still reasonably quick considering, but could have been so much better. Fairways, while dormant, were very playable. Bunkers well maintained.

I wish this course were closer to my home, because I'd be out there all the time ! Great course, wonderful staff, well priced, what more can you ask !
