Olivas is playing great right now. Fairways and rough are firm and fast. The deep rough is always trouble, but right next to the fairways it is cut to about a half inch and lies are good. Greens were in typical great shape. A little coot crap on one and eight, but good every where else. Sand was in excellent shape. Pace was decent at about 5 hours walking.

Considering the recent heavy rains, the greens were firm/quick and the sand traps were in remarkable shape. There were places in many low lying spots on the fairways that had casual water, which was to be expected. Tees were in great shape, fairways have decent coverage but will produce tight lies. Customer Service as usual was a +++.

Played in the GK Match Event with Seasucks5, RGM2525 and Nickesquire1 on Sunday 2/20 just before noon. Olivas drained decently but there was still evidence of puddles on certain holes. #1 probably had the dampest fairway due to recent rains. I would say in another day or so it should be dry. The fairways here always perk up more in the summer due to the type of grass that they have here. Expect brown fairways with just enough grass coverage on them at this time. No real rough just off the fairways here but if you are to far off the fairways expect some knee high unplayable rough just outside the cartpaths. Sand was wet due to the rains but in normal conditions Olivas has some of the best sand around. Tees are always level here and at present time just enough grass coverage. Greens were in good shape, some greens I felt were just a bit quicker than others but the ball rolled well on them. They were a bit more receptive than usual due to the rain. Course played long today due to the soggy fairways and we had a nice breeze on the back nine. Great challenging back nine here that keeps me coming back. Staff and practice facility great. They also have a rewards card system here that is free that can be taken advantage of. This course is well priced....i'll be back.

Excellent customer service, love the practice facility (wish we had something like it in Santa Clarita), and course was just as previous posters commented. Greens were rolling smooth and the dormant fairways still yield a good lie. Did notice that the group behind us was at least 2 holes behind and the course starting to back up on 13 as finished on 17. Really enjoyed the course, but the non resident walking rate of $57 is a bit high (the resident rate of $41 is excellent).

Played late this morning 1/18 with RGM2525....very accurate last review of the course....greens in great shape especially back nine greens which seem to be a little firmer. Sand in great shape....fairways and tee boxes thin and in a majority of places the fairways are hardpan.....pace of play was 4 hours 30 minutes today...great staff inside shop, excellent practice area and great deal they are having in the month of January and Feb where twilight starts at 11am and is only 24 bucks to walk during the week.

Played 1/16 in the OLMGC Scarmble tournament. Pace of play was good for a tourney, most likely due to the scramble format. The conditions are good right now with winter thin fairways, some bare areas that were marked off as ground under repair. The greens are fantastic now, rolling true with very few ball marks and no visible damage. Overall the course is playing good but will get better once the fairways and tee boxes fill in. No motocross noise noted, thinking it’s just some kids riding randomly riding around behind 11 green and 12 tee box. I was there last weekend and it was bad you could hear it for the entire round and when you get by the 12th hole it was defining.

Played just after noon on 1/10....course is not as lush as it once was months ago...many dirt spots in the fairways with some spots of the fairways still having decent lies and good turf...greens rolled well and held approach shots somewhat....the back nine greens were a little firmer and we enjoyed putting today. Sand is in very good shape...most tees all level..some spots of mud but not to bad....pace of play excellent at just under 4 hours walking.

As usual, it is cart path on 1, 2, 9, 18. There was a conspicuous lack of sand bottles on the carts or anywhere for that matter. The expected result was un-reparied divot city on nearly every fairway.... Continue »

As usual, it is cart path on 1, 2, 9, 18. There was a conspicuous lack of sand bottles on the carts or anywhere for that matter. The expected result was un-reparied divot city on nearly every fairway. Cart path washed out from one green to two tee and from nine tee to the fairway. The range has mats on natural ground or grass so that makes practice kind of funky if you are on uneven ground. Greens were decent, sand excellent, tees good. One thing that really stood out was the motocross activity on the south and west side of the course. Loud dirt bikes. Really, when did this happen? Kind of takes away from the golf experience. Overall, we had a good time at a nice course for a good price.

Played Olivas today (12/12) for the first time in a couple of months. Pretty dissapointing. Front nine greens were fuzzy, bumpy and slow. Seemed like they hadn't been cut in a while. Back nine was a little better, but not much. Most of the fairways are dormant and brown, but played well. I'm sure it's just the weather, as this course is usually immaculate. Better luck next time.
