Played Sunday 8/22, walking. Second group out. We didn't see the first group after four holes. Course is in great shape. They put the pins in some tough spots on some greens and makeable birdie spots on others. Not much wind today, so you could shoot for the pins. I like this course and was lucky to get out as I was told there was a tournament starting at 6:40 AM!!!! Wow, let the earlibirds that drive to golf get a break!

Played Olivas from the tips this afternoon 1st twilight group out. Olivas's fairways are still in good condition as well as the tees, fringes and sand in the bunkers. The greens were slightly better than the last time I played out here several weeks ago. Weather was perfect today with a slight breeze in the afternoon. Pro-shop staff attentive and got us out on time even with the twilight rush behind us. Pace of play a bit slow today at 4 hours 40 minutes. Rough bordering some fairways are very penal. Great layout...lots of challenging holes on the back nine..... a must play...especially for the twilight rate of $28 to walk during the week.

Played 8/14. I played here about a month ago, and what a difference! Immaculate conditions (with the exception of a lot of unrepaired ball marks). The new management has done an incredible job of making this a premier course. And 31$ at twighlight (1PM) on the weekend is an incredible deal. Forget about the jacked up prices at the L.A. munies, and head to the Ventura county courses. You'll be glad you did.

Another afternoon round at this popular muni. Course is in good shape, if not a little overplayed on weekends. Expect a 5 1/2 hour round after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday. Still, $31 to walk is well worth it. Greens are softer than they have been last few times here. Lots of unrepaired ball marks as well as poorly repaired ball marks. Those will never heal folks; do it right. The fairways were nearly pristine (aside from a couple of wet areas and some excessive divots. They have new carts and I noticed there are no sand bottles on them yet. That would explain all the unfilled divots in the fairways. Sand traps have some of the best sand in Southern California.

Wow what a course - If you have never played here before you are missing a really nice treat.

When you drive in and walk to the club house (trailer) you get good honest service. Polite and willing to get you out there to play.

The practice area is huge and in great shape - chipping areas, putting areas, chipping in rough areas, driving range -

Played form the black - with a good wind all day.

Hit it in the fairway and you were rewarded. The ball would roll on the manicured fairways - they were perfect. Tee boxes were in good shape, as well as the rough and the sand.

The greens where looking good but rolled with some bump to them, causing them to slow down a bit. Still rolled pretty true and fair. Just do not have a long putt - bad news. Pin placements where tough when we played, which shows that they can really toughen this track up if they have to.

Great rate for twighlight, great company, great golf course - it is worth the 50+ miles it takes for me to get to the course.

Played early Saturday morning, 7/31/10, in the PLGA J.C. Cunningham Senior Championship. My first time at the course but had heard good reviews, and I love it – reminiscent of links course in GB and elsewhere, with rolling layout, few trees, holes separated by scrub and high rough. Course was in great condition – good lies in the fairways, firm fast greens, interspersed heavy rough that could reach your knees – don’t go there! Generally plenty of room off the tee, and on most holes you can run the ball onto the green. The greens are generally large and divided by humps and swales – I frequently found myself on the wrong side of these features, and it will take several rounds to get familiar with the vagaries of many of the greens. My putts always seemed to be moving away from the hole – not good. We were fortunate in that it was overcast until noon and the temperature stayed down, and we didn’t really have any affecting wind until the last 6 holes. I’m told it can really get windy here, and that will lengthen many long par 4s and make accuracy even more premium. I didn’t score well, but look forward to getting another crack at this gem. Highly recommended.

Out at Olivas Links today 2nd twilight group out with GKer's Robstretch and Lkygsx and a buddy. Played black tees and had a pretty strong wind throughout the round. Olivas's fairways are in very good shape with almost perfect lies throughout and very few hardpan lies. Tees cut down thin and in good shape with hardly any divot damage and level. Sand is high quality and in good shape...wet in some places. Rough bordering holes is knee high in places. The greens were dry and had little bit of crust and bump to them. They need water and some smoothing out...or maybe we were just spoiled when they used to be some of the best putting greens in the county. Staff is always friendly in the shop and this is one of the best twilight deals in SoCal.

This course was a joy to play, if you have never played a links style, you have got to try this one. The conditions where excellent. I played Friday, JULY 23, and the weather was like a British Open, cold (64* when we started) warmed up to maybe 68* and got cold again, in JULY, so this was like the open. You will get the cool ocean breeze throughout the day, but not too bad. WARNING do not hit it into the rough(tall weeds) you may never find your ball. I will go back again

First time here. Conditioning was incredible. I have never seen a muni let alone a resort type course in immaculate condition like this. Course is fun with many different types of holes and greens were a challenge yet fair. If this course was in the LA/OC area, they can charge $100 and it would be popular. Other courses should really take a close look at how they operate because I was very, very impressed. Too bad I live 60 miles away from this course!!
