Played this course on Columbus day (10/12) at 11:30am. Course is generally is good condition. Conditions on the back 9 were better than the front 9 (front 9 greens were bumpy and sandy and still recovering from previous aeration). Only complaint was that from the 15th tee onward, several groups were backed up. Last four holes took forever to finish. Still well worth the drive.

Olivas Links continues to be in very good shape. The recent maintenance on the greens was almost non-existent on the back nine and the front nine greens should be back to normal in a week or so. The fairways were in very nice shape and were lush in spots that I have never seen before like #16 fairway. The tees were wet but were lush and in great shape. The sand is deep in spots and in great shape....one of our playing partners had a very deep "fried egg" in the frontside bunker on #17. The rough is up in spots and if you hit the heavy stuff your probably adding a stroke for sure. The weather was great when we played as was the pace of play. Here is to hoping that management keeps the conditions and prices the same.

Played last week on the first leg of a NorCal road trip. Wanted to give it go after hearing all the good things the GK'ers had to say about it and was presently surprised. We knew they'd just aerated so I'll reserve comment on the greens, but the layout, although fairly flat, was a nice blend of simple to difficult (especially the back nine) combining some tight fairways with water and specific landing areas that will keep you on your toes. A great deal and I'm sure it gets a lot of play. I'll come back when the greens repair themselves (probably by mid-Oct) and give it another shot.

Played Sat 09/26/09. The course was aerated on Monday thus they have aerated special, $28 to walk and additional $9 to ride. We decided to come here because they have beautiful course and cool weather, 73 degree. Perfect weather. We were all thankful that we didn't have to play golf at 100+ weather in LA. Olivas Links has beautiful fairways. This course is basically flat course. Great to walk. Has ocean breeze. Bunkers were OK. Greens, aerated but normally very good with normal speed.
Customer services are great. They do not have club house just temporary trailer house. Definitely thumbs up course, GK rating 8. We will definitely go back.

Wow! Olivas has really improved since I've played it last. Probably has some the lushiest fairways in Ventura County. Greens are nice. Great deisgn. I will defineately play here again!!

I play here quite a bit. Took up golf seriously in 3/09. Since March I have played probably 80 rounds from Scottsdale, Vegas, Palm Desert and most of our local courses. Olivas ranks highest in my book. The crew is great and the course is beautiful, especially on those windy afternoons that Ventura provides quite consistantly.

We are very lucky to have a course like this in our backyard!

We played here on Labor day with a tee time around 12:30 pm. It took us about 5 1/2 hours to play 18 holes. It was our first time here. The staff here was very friendly. It is an easy course to walk (we rode). There is a driving range here but it was not very big. We had to wait for an open spot on the range.

This is a links style course with rolling fairways. The fringe around the greens were not as smooth as I have seen as Rustic Canyon. It was a little hard putting on the fringe. The fairways were narrow in spots. The fairways were a little hard, so your ball will bounce around a bit. I didn't see too many bare spots mostly unfilled divots here and there. Tho' we were almost hit by several balls from players from nearby holes without warning. Please yell "fore" when you hit an errant shots to let other players know.

This course has one of the best teeing areas I have seen for a municipal course (from the green/white tees). I am so used to teeing areas with bare spots or tall grass. The sand here was white and fluffy. Not the usual sand (dirt) I have been seeing at LA city municipal courses. The greens were real nice but I did see a lot of unrepaired ball marks. Some of the ponds/water areas were a little stinky as they are using reclaimed water here.

Overall this is one of the best municipal courses I have played in So Cal. It is a little tough but it is always a lot cooler to play here than the SFV. It costs more than the LA city golf courses but it was well worth it. We will be back here again!

Played on Labor Day at 10 am, and took about 5 hours or so. Very nice condition for a muni and plays like a higher end course. Fairways are very green, but a bit hard. Bunkers have sand, not dirt. Greens are nice, but many ball marks. Fun layout and good mix of all types of holes. Easy to walk as it is all flat. Had a good time here, you will too.

Played Labor Day weekend. Great conditions, slow pace of play. Didn't see any Marshalls - not sure they could have helped - just a busy, busy day.

Customer service great - but I don't like getting hustled on the practice green for "game improvement" devices.
All in all tho, this place is a municipal gem.
