From tee to green, maybe the best shape I've ever seen this course in. The tees and fairways are really lush. The greens putted consistently and were medium fast, a little hard would be the only negative. Played from the tips in 4 1/2 hours with a really nice father & son, both of whom were good to excellent golfers who drove 1 1/2 hours to escape the heat-fires. It was 80 degrees for a 2:55 tee off, whereas when I drove through Woodland Hills it was 102 degrees an hour beforehand, so the weather was definitely a ++. Great value!

played morning of Aug 29 2009. I haven't played here in a long time, but came away impressed today w the superb tee to green conditioning. The course looks great and plays great. The' greens are maturing; their holding shots better, although they're not as quick as they once were. The bunkers here are terrific too; accelerate through the shot, because the heavy sand will punish any decel. This course is a bargain, and may be the best conditioned course I've seen this year. My only complaints would be the disgusting aroma from the nearby mushroom farm and the pace of play - 5hrs.

Played Olivas Links Monday 8/17, this course is in excellent condition. Summer heat issues at Olivas in August? Not a chance. This course is located less then a ¼ mile from the ocean. The micro climate of the area promotes morning fog with a warm up that hardly surpasses 80 degrees. It’s perfect weather to slap the bag on your back and walk a level inspiring golf course.

That said, I never fail to enjoy my round of golf here even if my golf game does not cooperate. Monday, I teed it up with GK Members longball23, TopRank and Ricoco. Found the greens to be rolling very nice although they could have been better if golfers that had played before us did a better job fixing ball marks. But being a GK Member, and my fellow site members will agree, we take pride a fixing our marks and a few others. Fairways were as lush as I have ever seen them, I would not say immaculate, but terrific lies are to be expected. Tee boxes in prime shape and sand traps well maintained. The only aspect of the course I “personally” don’t enjoy is the extraordinarily long, 2 foot rough, in random locations. I know it adds to the challenge and looks good, but it simply should be cut down (say 6 inches) to the point where a player can reasonably find their ball. Otherwise, pace of play can suffer…especially if one follows the rules of golf requiring a lost ball penalty/re-hit from the previous position. Not that the 2-foot rough would ever keep me from loving this course…I will be back soon!

been awhile since at olivas. now is the time to play. fairways and greens exactly as they should be: perky and consistent in the fairway- true and fair on the greens.
would recommend to anyone right now- worth a significant drive to play and i understand why this place is always packed.

Out this afternoon 8/17 twilight from the tips with JohnnyGK, Toprank and Ricogo. Course was very lush(fairways, tees) and playing long without much roll. Very nice fairways and tees. Sand is in good shape and the greens were rolling slow for Olivas's standards and were very healthy and green....people please repair your ball marks and those around you. Pace of play was decent today for the amount of golfers on the course. Back 9 here is a gem and is tough from the tips.

Played on 8/05, I loved everything about this course except the pace of play. We had a 1:30 tee time but did not tee off until almost 2pm on the back nine. There were Adirondack chairs on almost every tee box, which were needed for the first four holes. After that the pace picked up some, but it took 3 hours to finish the first nine. The marshal warned us on the delay and they worked to improve the pace but I think there were just too many golfers and the tee times too close together. Don't get me wrong, this is a great course and a must play but I think the long rough and ball swallowing "natural" areas slow things down with out a fore caddy or very good eyes. I look forward to going back but I will play early. For the money ($24 w/cart on golf now ) it was a steal.

Greens were slower than usual, may not have been moved today? The tees boxes and fairways are comparable with ANY course, LUSH! Sand in the traps is good to excellent quality, I was in about a half dozen, so I got to ample more than my share! Areas of the rough have almost died off from a lack of water, while other areas may be 2-3 ft. deep, so definitely hit and miss. In the rough, it can range from an OK lie with almost no detriment to missing the fairway to a lost ball literally within a few feet, so beware!

Played Olivas Links from the tips this afternoon(8/8) with a buddy. Wind was mild at best today and the course was in terrific shape. Have not played here on the weekend in at least a year or so. Lot of people out on the golf course. We did not have a tee time and the friendly staff got us out just after twilight. The greens are very slow for Olivas's standards but are in very good shape...hit your putts firm here to make them...the greens are very receptive right now. The fairways remain in the best shape that I have seen them...lush and not a lot of roll due to how thick they are. Tee boxes are always level here and are also lush. Sand varies from bunker to bunker but for the most part the sand is very high quality. Pace of play was 5 hours 15 minutes. Still can't believe that you can walk this course on the weekend at 1:00pm for 25 bucks.....one of the best values in VC for the conditions, layout and great weather....must play

Great Golf experience. A real Links Course. Make sure you sit in the chairs. Don't tell anyone, but when it's 100 degrees in the Valley, it's only 70 degrees at Olivas.
