Walked the blues this morning teeing off around 9am joined by my buddy Matt and a nice single from the Santa Clarita area. Pop was 4 hrs 40 minutes under perfect weather with it getting around 64 as a high today and no wind. Course drained really well after the pouring rain yesterday with just a couple standing water spots in some of the bunkers and several of the fringes wetter than normal. Rough, tees and Fairways totally playable today.

Greens were in very good shape. Rolling smooth and speeding up as the day went on. Holding shots very nicely and softly. Rated 8/10

Fairways in good shape albeit a little wetter than normal. Rated 7/10

Tees level and in great shape. Very lush. Rated 8/10

Greenside rough in beautiful shape very lush and pleasing to the eye. Rated 8.5/10

Fairway rough in decent shape 7/10.

Wasn't in any bunkers but my buddy was and they were really playing like firm waste bunkers.

Highly recommend Rustic if you can get a tee time

Course overall in good shape. Greens very good and fast. Fairways decent coverage for winter. Tee boxes were pretty chewed up. Has gotten pretty expensive now Fri-Sun.

Walked the blues this afternoon at high noon joined by a nice single and a twosome from the Santa Monica area for a POP at 4 hrs 30 minutes with the temps around 60 degrees and little to no wind. Ideal conditions. Did not use the range but they had it on grass today. Rustic also has a nice chipping/bunker area, nice putting green and grill was opened today for food. Very nice proshop staff and cart girl making the rounds. Greens were in very good shape today. For Rustic's standards slower than usual but for most courses they would seem slick. Very little to no ballmarks and a couple devilish pin positions today but not to bad. Green speeds maybe a 10.5 on the stimp. Green rating 8/10 Fairways contained nice padding. Most spots had full coverage and just a few thinner lies here and there. Rated 7.5/10 Blue tees were all level, very lush and in good shape. Tee box on 2 is pushed to the left some as the rains the last couple weeks made the normal teeing grounds muddy. Rated 8/10. Was in one greenside bunker left of 15 that was firm but contained just enough sand. Rated 7/10 Greenside rough was fabulous as usual. Lush, thicker and in great shape Rated 8.5/10.The course has done a good job recently with the rough on most holes just off the fairways now in the 6.5/10 range. Most fringes currently are softer than when the course first opened so play your approach chips for bump and run shots with that in mind. Rustic was just gorgeous today on the back nine with the sun setting. Grounds crew to be highly praised for the shape they have it in this winter. Highly recommended.

Walked the blues today teeing off at 1150am with my buddy Matt joined by a nice couple that quit on 16. Our POP was 4 hrs 40 minutes under sunny skies and a swirling 20-25mph Santa Ana wind. Drives on 1,2,3,12,14,16,18 were fun to hit downwind where 5,9,10,11and 13 were straight in the teeth of the wind. Super friendly pro shop staff, nice grass range that we didn't have time to use today with a separate chipping area. Have not played here for a couple months and the course is still in great shape for early December/winter. Greens were super quick today with the wind rolling close to a 12 stimp on downhillers and sidehillers. The Marshall were telling each group that the pin placement on 1 and 8 were automatic 2 putts...I could see it on 8 where they had the pin but not on hole 1. Anyway the greens were holding shots, rolling pure with little to no ball Mark damage. Rating these beauties a 9/10. You could look silly putting today if you did not know the course and did not take into account the wind and slick surfaces. So impressed with the Fairways this late in the season. Mostly lush tight padded surfaces that contained some roll out and just a pleasure to hit irons off of. Rated 8/10 Tees all level and lush 8/10 Greenside rough beautiful 9/10, rough off the fairways rated 7/10. Not in any bunkers. Highly recommend this track

Walked the blues early afternoon today 10/2/23 with my buddy Matt joined by a nice twosome under temps in the low 70s with about a 10-15mph wind. Our POP was around 4 hrs 40 minutes. Lots of golfers out today, great to see this on my home course. After playing so many rounds here I can honestly say even though the bones are set up for a bump and run links course the beautiful lush conditions would say otherwise. This is the lushest I have ever seen the fairways and the sofest and slowest I have ever seen the greens and big aprons/fringes!. Just couldn't get ourselves as a group to hit putts and chips hard enough today. The fairways are also in lush beautiful shape but without roll the course is playing longer. Greens were soft and really holding shots nicely. They are medium to slow pace for Rustics standards and probably slower today as they were recently punched almost 4 weeks ago. No sign of any maintenance holes or issues so can probably take the yellow maintenance alert down. Rated 7/10 Fairways are an 8.5/10. Probably the nicest I have ever seen them. Super lush, hardly any roll and a pleasure to hit from. Tees were level and in good shape. Rated 7.5/10 Rough just off the greens in great shape 9/10. Rough just off the fairways good shape 8/10. Rough closer to the cartpaths get thinner and less consistent. Was in one bunker that was in decent shape. Staff super friendly. They just completed renovation on the range. Check the wind beforehand. Course is very lush and in good shape. Great layout. Highly recommended.

Played 9-18-23 twilight for $34 walking, finishing in about 3 hours as a single. Tee boxes were a little on the thin side with some bare spots and a little more than normal divot damage on par threes. Fairways were very green and on the long side, some of them had some small bare spots( especially 18), they had nice cushioning but not much roll out and sometimes the ball would sit down a little. Rough along fairways and around greens was in good shape playing between 2-3 inches and thick. Was in one greenside bunker that had a decent layer of grainy sand. Greens were pretty much healed from being punched, but they were rolling on the slow side, and playing semi-soft. Customer service was great. Course doesn't play much like a links course anymore with the softer greens and longer fairways but still fun to play once in awhile.

Played yesterday morning with friends. I normally love the course but current costs don’t equivocate to the conditions. I understand you have to aerate, but fairways weren’t cut, no roll and being a senior that doesn’t hit the ball as far as he once did, hitting longer irons and fairway woods hitting into very slow greens making the course even more challenging. That’s on me. Pace of play, a little longer than normal due to one very slow foursome that I was told letting other foursomes play thru. Nothing a week or so won’t cure.

Played here today with a 2:20 time, riding for $69. Paired with a threesome of fun guys and we started right on time. Pace was amazing for a Rustic weekend afternoon; we'd finished the front nine in just a little over two hours, and then the back was a little slower. Total POP a smidge over 4.5 hours and plenty of daylight left on a gorgeous afternoon. A nice breeze kept temperatures tolerable. Three or four holes were CPO.

Conditions are good and the entire course is exceptionally green for how hot it's been lately. Greens are smooth, medium speed, and medium firmness, accepting full shots well. Fairways are very lush and provided good lies all day. Rough is thicker than normal for here and actually slowed offline shots down from going into the native areas. The only bunker I was in was (I think) a waste bunker and it was pretty compacted where my ball was, although a playing partner had no issue with his shot just a few feet away. Blue tee boxes were mostly good but did have lots of divots.

Definitely recommended.

Rode the blues this morning with my buddy Mark joined by 2 nice singles. Pop was 4 hrs 40 minutes on a packed course. We had a 1.5 club swirling wind for most of the day under sunny skies with temps in the low 70s. Rustic just finished their range renovations and the turf on the range your hitting into looks tour quality. They did a beautiful job. New target flags and they had players hitting off grass. Chipping green grass super lush and putting green as usual in great shape. The winter rains have made everything so lush and green. Great fairway conditions 8/10. Greens recently received maintenance almost 4 weeks ago according to an employee and they are very healthy, shining with little to no ball mark damage. Uphillers are slower than normal but downhillers can still get away from you. Rated 8/10 Greenside rough 9/10 very thick and lush Fairway rough is decent in the 7/10 range just off the fairways Not in any bunkers today. Tees were level, lush and in great shape 8/10 Everything from the challenge to great conditions and layout are all the reason this gets recognized by golf magazine and others as a must play. Always recommending it to everyone I know.
