Played here Saturday, 3/26 with a 2:10 tee time. Checked in around 1:20 and added a push cart and told the guy I was ready to go anytime if there was any chance of moving me up. He said he could move me to 2:00, and then they called us to the tee a little early, so I ended up teeing off about 15 minutes before I was originally scheduled. The other 3 in my group rode while I walked. Pace was good for a Rustic weekend afternoon, finishing in about 4 hours, 45 minutes. The sun dipped behind the mountains just as we were finishing on 18, so there was probably another 30 minutes of playable light left. Gorgeous day with ideal weather.

Conditions are quite good. Greens are smooth, medium to medium-fast speed and accept full shots well. Fairways are a little inconsistent but most of them are quite good. The rough along the fairways seems a little thicker/more substantial than normal and the rough around the greens is the usual lush, beautiful green rye. Blue tee boxes were good. The couple bunkers I was in were also good.

Scored terribly but still enjoyed every minute of it. Highly recommended.

Walked the blues this morning 3/14/22 at 11:10am with my buddy Matt joining a friendly twosome under beautiful weather conditions in the high 70s with about a 8mph breeze, Pop was just under 4 hrs 30 minutes.

It was great to get back out to my home course after a couple of months not playing here.

The greens were very firm and putting in beautiful shape. Accepting irons with height and spin. Rated 8/10

Tees beautiful lush and level. Rated 8/10

Greeside rough gorgeous lush and green. Great shape 8.5/10

Fairways firm and padded with tons of roll. Links winter style the way the course intended. Rated 6.5/10

Was not in any greenside bunkers but they looked raked and firm walking by them.

Highly recommend Rustic if you are able to secure a tee time.

Taking advantage of being so far North from home, dropped by Rustic Canyon, which is also one of my favorites. Totally agree with Ron's recent review, Course is in very nice condition, and plays the way Rustic was meant to be played. The dormant fairways provide nice roll ot which was appreciated. Greens rolled well with decent speed. I can't comment about how receptive they were, because I really never hit a shot well enough to determine.

When I play poorly, which is too often the case now, and still walk off the course and can say you had a good time, that is a testament to the golf course. I just wish this course wasn't so darn far from home

Played 3-2-22 early morning walking as a single for $44, finishing in 2 hours and 45 minutes. Tees were in really good shape, lush and level with minimal divot damage on par threes. I really like the why the fairways are playing right now, just the way a links course should be. They are mostly dormant with a good amount of roll out, the lies a semi tight but have good cushioning. Rough is nice and lush around the greens and about 2 inches long. Rough along fairways is cut short with a few bare spots. Was not in any bunkers but they looked well groomed. Greens were in nice condition, rolling true at medium pace and playing semi-firm. Overall course in really good shape.

Played the blue tees in mild temps and shifty winds, with bnaso for my 3rd match of cup 18. This was my pilgrimage to Rustic, as it has been on my 'gotta play' list. I've never played a course with as many holes as Rustic, meant to quickly levy unexpected results & lies...to typical shots. Do your homework, eat your Wheaties, and having a seasoned Rustic golf buddy with you, is a good combination to golf well here. I quickly noticed that many out here walk the course with their pull carts...I brought mine just in case, and was glad I decided to use it. The range is off mats and there is a decent chip/pitch/sand/flop green next to it. The practice putting green as connected to, yet a small distance from the 18th green...just quickly get over it and on with your business. Customer service is good and the facilities are nice.
Tees were in good shape.
Fairways are cut tight, healthy to compress shots from, and can run. I'm talking about run on the down slope holes...you will believe it when you see it.
Rough is there, usually cut just as tight as fairwarys and don't offer much help to errant shots. Play smart.
Bunkers are great, good sand and density. The #17 right greenside bunker is being redone and will have more plush sand the closer to the green you are(ask me how I know).
The greens are tricky...firm, fast, tiers, undulations, and decieving slopes. They are healthy and can accept shots, but only well placed high spinning shots, otherwise, they release and run. A lot of well placed shots need to land on the softer fringe before the green, to be effective here. The fringes are wide, some more than 10 yards wide surrounding the greens(don't be fooled by this from long distances). They roll pretty quick but are consistent on breaks and finish.
I thououghly enjoyed playing with bnaso and having a competitive match at this layout(its no pushover). This course will make you play smarter, as you need to respect the design, conditions and shot behaviors to do well. I will return...recommended.

Great to see my home course thriving with golfers. So happy for Rustic. Weather was perfect low 60s and at times a one club wind..perfect conditions.

Happy to report the course has all its teeth back. Fast and beautiful firm greens, level and lush tee boxes, beautiful greenside rough and firm links fairways with run in them.

How tough were the pins and how firm were the greens.... I had an eagle putt on 1 [back pin] and putted it just off the green as well as an eagle putt on 5 that I knocked 12 feet by. No complaints here greens rolling smooth and in beautiful shape! Rated 8/10.

Tees lush, level and in good shape. Rated 8/10

Greenside rough lush, thick and in beautiful shape. Rated 9/10

Fairways more firm than lush, links style. Need to really compress these guys. Rated 6.5/10.

Walked the blues this morning with my buddy Pedro joining a 2 ball just before 11am. Pop was 4 hrs 30 minutes with some waiting on the front and smoother sailing on the back. Weather was low 80s and pleasant. Conditions are pretty much identical to my review 2 weeks ago. Greens are in nice shape. Rolling medium speed on uphillers and sidehillers and quick on downhillers. The putting green seems to be a bit quicker than the regular greens so keep that in mind. Rated 8/10. Fairways are a nice mix of mostly semi lush green coverage with still some run out on well struck lower trajectory drives, Rated 7/10 Tees are mostly all level , lush and in good to great shape despite the usual divot damage on par 3s. Rated 8/10 Rough greenside thick, lush and spectacular 9/10, rough outside of fairways thinner, little more inconsistent 6/10. Was not in any bunkers. Love my home course. Highly recommended.

Rustic is in great shape right now especially for mid November.

The greens are smooth, receptive and quick on sidehill and downhill putts. Very little ballmark damage. Rated 8/10.

Fairways semi lush mostly padded and green. Super should be commended for keeping the fairways this lush through the hotter months. Rated 7.5/10

Tees are level, lush..some divot damage on the par 3s to be expected. Rated 7/10

Greenside rough is thick! Probably thickest I have ever seen it. Great shape in the 9/10 category. Fairway rough is hodge podge whether you get a thin or wispy lie or lush lie.

Was in greenside bunkers on 4 and 13. Sand here has improved over the years. There is ample amount of sand and all bunkers had rakes and looked to be well maintained. Rated 7/10

Played as a twosome from the Whites on a 9:30 tee time. Pace of play was just shy of 4:30 mostly due to the other twosome who we were paired with who were a bit older and walked the course. If they had a cart it would have been closer to 4 hours but we weren't in a hurry.

Tee boxes were in good shape, fairways were well maintained but thin in some places (but mostly as to be expected here). The greens were a little slower than normal but still faster than any muni in L.A. or nearby. They were mostly in good shape with some areas under repair around the edges of the massive green platforms. The driving range was closed for "maintenance" but it didn't look like anything was going on at them so I don't know if it was just a staffing issue.

Only major complaints was the cafe/snackshop is woefully understaffed and understocked and the clubhouse bathrooms looked like a tornado hit them and hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The beverage cart also is just a woman driving around in a regular golf cart (not the fully stocked ones with built in chests and snack storage) with a few janky water coolers filled with drinks and limited snacks. For such a great course, their amenities could use some improvements that would really take them to the top tier.
