What heat wave?

Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo, CA (Ventura County) was once again a fantastic host for our golf outing on Monday, August 3rd. Besides being treated to a fun challenging layout, with great views, beautiful playing conditions, and exceptional tournament services; Camarillo is ideal for beating the heat as we had pleasant coastal weather with highs in low 80’s.

Thank you everyone that comes out to these Vivid Golf/Greenskeeper.org/Golf Moose Private Club events! Its so good to see many Greenskeeper.org members + the regular players/small groups that join in on the fun. One of big hits with these events is the pre-round putting skill challenge for a free Vivid Golf premium polo gift card. These are high quality, high-end polos now in over 500 proshops across the United States. Players get two chances to make a moderately challenging putt to win. The skill challenge in included with the cost of entry for the event. It has become very popular with a large line of players collectively reading the putt and cheering each other on. Everyone gets a chance to win.

Check out the photos I posted, and other recent reviews posted for more information.

Big thanks to Greenskeeper.org event team of rgm2525, GDR23 and Mark_6m that assisted me this day.

Rode the Blues this morning 8/3/26 as part of the GK/Golfmoose event under beautiful weather around 80 degrees with light winds. Joined by buddies John, Ron and Mark. Pop was 4 hrs 45 minutes. Great staging area for an event with the driving range, putting green and chipping area all close in proximity.

Greens looked and putted pure and fantastic. They putted just a tad slower than they looked and held shots very well. Some small and some large green complexes. Most greens here slope back to front so staying below the hole is paramount. Rated 8.5/10

Fairways were nicely cut and padded kikuya based grass that was in great shape! Rated 8.5/10

Rough was thicker kikuya that was higher than the fairways. Most rough sections just feet off the fairways provided nice flier lies. The rough greenside on some holes was thicker and grabby. Rated 8.5/10

Tees were mainly level and in nice shape. Rated 8/10

Only in one greenside bunker that had nice quality sand in it.

Las Posas is a ballstrikers players course where long/straight provides birdie opportunities and crooked provides danger on most holes here. Need to work the ball both ways off the tee here on the back nine. Well guarded greens with superb bunkers surrounding them. Couple nice challenging longer par 3s on the front and two quirky par 5s on the back.

Overall fun course to play with some slight elevation changes here and there.

Don't miss Oscar's grill just to the right of 18 green. Some of the best food in the county.

What a difference 2 days makes for our Las Posas CC event that started off chaotic and finished fabulous.

It just so happened that our event took place just 2 days prior to Las Posas CC new golf cart fleet’s arrival. Unfortunately, due to many depleted bad battery issues, Las Posas CC was considerably short on carts for the number of players we had. Fortunately, 17 players volunteered to walk in exchange for $25 event credit or Free Vivid Golf Polo Gift Card. THANK YOU SO MUCH. For those whose cart broke down during the event, Las Posas CC gave a free round of golf to come back to experience the club – SOLID.

My event staff group walked on what turned to be a gorgeous day to do so. Having never walked the course before, despite some challenging climbs on Hole’s 10, 14 and 18, I really enjoyed the experience. While walking Las Posas CC, I found out how much more peaceful and secluded playing the course is. Walking also gave me more time to take in all the beautiful views Las Posas CC is known for. If given the choice again to ride or walk Las Posas CC, I would walk it.

Conditions of the course were fantastic. Probably the best I’ve ever seen it which says a lot. The greens were smooth, fast and holding shots. Fairways, Rough and Tee Box all super lush. The bunkers all contain quality sand, groomed and played consistent.

After play, I make it a point to never pass-up a bite to eat at Oscar’s grill. The food is good I now make a special request for every event I have there for it to be open an hour prior to our shotgun start and an hour after play. Oscar's is located next to the 18th green with a beautiful patio view. I’ve had the Breakfast Burrito, Tri-Tip Burrito and Chicken Ceasar Wrap. I’ve been told their burger is the out of this world. I’ll probably give it a shot next time.

I highly recommend Las Posas CC. Never pass up a chance to play here. Check-out the photos I just posted and those from our past events.

Walked the blues this morning in group 1b with buddies John, Ron and Mark under beautiful weather conditions about 70 degrees with a up to 10mph breeze that felt great. About 110 player Golfmoose/Vivid event that had POP about 5 hours. We actually hardly waited at all for the twosome in front of us.

My third time playing here and the conditions were the best that I have seen them in 3 rounds out here,,

The fairways were very lush with perfect lies. Rated 9/10. Very little to no problem areas. The rains the last two months have really made this place lush.

The rough was also gorgeous, thick and in very nice shape. Long enough for your ball to sit down but not to long where you couldn't advance it or put it on the green. Rated 8.5/10

Tees were also very lush, level and in great shape. Rated 9/10

Greens were very pure with no blemishes and semi quick, maybe a 10.5 on the stimp. They have some bigger sloped greens with a nice mix of bunkering at times guarding the green complexes. Green rating 9/10.

Was in 2 greenside bunkers and 1 Fairway bunker that were in good shape. Rated 8/10

Play for position here at Las posas and be smart on the par 5 7th hole, par 5 10th hole and par 5 12th hole to try and make birdie the conventional way. Holes 3, 10, 12, 16 and 17 make you work the ball off the tee both ways. Couple long par 3s from the tips on the front nine. I love the 18th hole where you can let one rip with the driver and get some hang time on your drive.

Fun course.

I would recommend eating at Oscar's restaurant right to the right of 18 green. Great burritos and wraps.

What a day at Las Posas Country Club Monday, 12-29, for our first GK Plays Private Club Event… and not just because I got my first Hole-In-One :)

Over the last four years I’ve been running collaborative Golf Moose/Greenskeeper.org/Vivid Golf 100+ players private club events with great success, so it was time to expand.

Thank you to everyone that was able to attend. More coming!

Las Posas Country Club was in super shape despite the enormous amount of rain days before. Last Monday was a crazy windy day which making the course very challenging, yet clearing the skies for miles around providing fantastic views of the ocean and surrounding mountains. Greens, Fairways, Rough and Tee boxes were all in excellent shape. The bunkers were still firm/damp from the storm but all very playable. Hats off to the superintendent and his team. No one expected the course to have recovered so well in this short of time.

After play we gathered at Oscar’s Grill for GK Plays for post round fun, goodies and prizes. I had heard how delicious the food is at Oscar’s Grill so prior to playing I ordered a breakfast burrito and after play, given how scrumptious breakfast burrito was, I ordered the tri-tip burrito. Man, Oscar’s Grill lived up the hype and then some. Always make Oscar’s part of your Las Posas CC experience.

I can’t wait to get back here on March 9th for another great event!

Check out the photos I just posted.

Enjoyed an excellent GK Outing at LPCC with great playing partners JohnnyGK, ag2000, and mpisarski01. Excellent players and outstanding company!

LPCC is a fun Players Course with no hole being the same. This course really kept you in check, but was never unreasonable. The layout was excellent! Really enjoyed this place!

LPCC is a very well-designed course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course features clear definition between its mid-sized fairways and rough areas, well placed bunkering on fairways and proximate to greens, along with some strategic water hazards, with medium sized and reasonably fast greens.

The course is sometimes flat, other times undulating, and sometimes hilly with elevation changes from tee to green, and offers some attractive views of localized mountains and orchards despite running through quality residential housing.

The course plays like a parkland / mountain layout. You will need to work the ball in both directions, as doglegs were a definite theme. Wind speeds were challenging, peaking at 40 - 45 mph when gusting.

The course was very well manicured and in excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 4.5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.5 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Above average condition.

Fairways: Green at times tight. Excellent condition.

Greens: Green, medium-fast in speed, with medium softness. No damage observed. Speed about a 10.5. Excellent condition.

Sand: Well maintained, heavy, and firm. Above average condition.

Rough: rough was well defined from the fairway and green collars but not too overgrown, about 2 – 5 inches. Above average condition.

Waste Areas: Waste areas on various holes did not offer the opportunity of recovery due to their overgrown nature. Above average.

Driving Range: The range is excellent, hitting from artificial turf. You are on a mildly elevated perch hitting into a grass valley with green markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 320ish. Range balls were your typical yellow rangers, but in very good condition.

Chipping Area: Compact in size and included a practice bunker. Condition and features were excellent.

Practice Putting Green: Ample in size and very well maintained. Practice greens seemed consistent with the speed of the course greens. Excellent condition.

POP: 4.0 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole.

The LPCC facility included a snack bar / restaurant, and a very nicely stocked pro shop. Service received was excellent.

I had the breakfast burrito before the round and it was as good as it gets! Then I had Oscar's Avocado Bacon Cheeseburger with Fries for dinner, and it was perfect. The food here is top level!

If looking to join a quality golf club with the emphasis on golf this is a really good one. Really enjoyed this course and certainly wish I could play it more often. If I lived closer, this would be one I would consider joining.

I endorse playing this track if given the opportunity. Looking forward to my next visit here. Thank you Johnny and GK for this outing.

***On the best note, JohnnyGK made his first Golf hole in one***

I'm so happy for him and am very thankful to have been there to share this very special moment. I am blessed to say, I saw the shot off the club (3 Hybrid), thru the air, graze the left greenside bunker edge, release nicely into the green, slightly curl right, and fall at a perfect speed into the hole. What a highlight!!!

Let it be known, Hole 9 - playing 206 yards from the tee box, uphill with about a 38 mph trailing wind. It was epic!!!

Congrats JohnnyGK!!!

First time playing here yesterday. Boy, was it a windy one. Carts and practice areas were staged nicely upon arrival. Snack shack was open for breakfast and midround. Clear day, 70º with 30+ mph winds, making it a tough scoring day.

Conditions were fantastic. Even after 13" of rain, the only tough part was the sand traps. Fairways were perfect, with no mud, and the same was true for 905 of the rough. Greens were a little firm and fast but rolled perfectly (with the exception of the wind blowing leaves and sticks all over). I really enjoyed the layout, with a good mix of par 3s and fun par 5s.

What made the day even better was our Fearless Leader, Johnny Gk, finally securing his ACE!

A red flag day! Showed up to the GK Las Posas event, and was paired with JohnnyGK, Mark_6m, and Mpisarski01. We started on hole 17, and learned that this wind was gong to make things incredibly tough. In sections this course can be tight, and with the wind any hope we had of scoring a "best round" was quickly diminished. Yet we had a great time, everyone in the group had a birdie, and 3 of us won the closest to the pin contest on the par threes. Speaking of par 3's, what happened on hole 9 was nothing short of incredible. JohnnyGK, our founder, captain, and team leader, thinned a 3-hybrid through a bunker and into the hole, for his first ever hole-in-one. After years of watching the Ace cam videos on social media, he finally did it, and we got it on film. A huge congrats to JohnnyGK, that memory will last with me forever, and I have no doubt it will be one of your crowning achievements in the many that you have earned and worked for with this great game. I am truly honored to be in the group that witnessed the GK Ace cam finally hit. Knowing how much this means to Johnny, I nearly shed tears celebrating with him, what a moment!

Las Posas is a great private club with so much to offer. The course is a fun layout with elevation, perfectly placed bunkers, and some tough greens. The views make this course what it is, and today with the wind howling from the Santa Ana's the ocean was visible for miles, and the green rolling hills looked immaculate. I highly recommend playing here if you get the chance. The staff is great, and they put a lot of effort into making the course/facility special. I also heard the breakfast burrito is one of the best golf has to offer.

My golf season started Monday at Las Posas CC teeing it up with rgm2525, GDR23 and mark_6m. Good friends, great course, great playing conditions, super weather plus a smooth sailing golf tournament to run! Thanks to everyone that attended this and other Private Course GK/Vivid Golf/Golf Moose events. You’ll always find me, mostly likely rgm2525 and/or mark_6m, GDR23 or sparky14 at check-in :)

From a golf event organizer perspective, Las Posas CC provides very convenient parking, bag drop, check-in staging area, golf cart staging, practice facilities and clubhouse amenities. While the clubhouse is small in comparison to others in our rotation, it features a large proshop and excellent service. They have a recently renovated beautiful patio to lounge or dine on providing great views. The golf course features a very fun, interesting, challenging yet fair, secluded layout suited for all skill levels. The staff were all very professional/friendly from my first correspondence to following up after event day. We will be back!

Check out the photos I posted as well as GDR23’s review and others that follow for more details.
