We arrived in Vegas for Coyote Springs tomorrow (Sat 6/16/18), earlier than planned so we stopped by Primm to play 9 holes for a warm up. Was a little surprised when we pulled in shortly after 2 pm and found only a handful of cars.

Two courses here, so we decided on The Lakes and we were not disappointed! The course was in great shape! The wind made it a little more challenging (US Open Thursday type wind...lol), but it played well. As long as you were paying attention, the water rarely presented a problem. Sand traps were playable as was the rough. If you weren’t accurately in the middle of the fairway on your drive, we were presented with some interesting lays. Most the fairways, and greens for that matter, had some undulations one way or another. The greens seemed to roll pretty true. Overall a fun time - can’t wait to get back again and play both courses.

The course was very nice but I have to say there were no "Wow" holes, just a bunch of good holes which is more than enough for me! I would definitely come back and play this course for the price. Finished in about 2 1/2 hours which was perfect because at 103 degrees, I was baking.

Tee Boxes: Very lush almost too much grass on them.
Fairways: Ball sat up very nicely even on the grass that was dead.
Greens: Slow but rolled pretty true held shots nicely

Got in a late twilight round on the way home from a Vegas work trip yesterday and decided to see what Primm Valley GC was all about after driving past it countless times in my life. First off, kudos to the pro shop who told me as a walk-in that it would be far cheaper for me to make a quick booking on teeoff.com ($55) than just through the course ($89) - that's pretty quality and honest service right there. And it was much appreciated. First thing you notice once you get on the grounds is how you're kind of lost in the woods yet surrounded by desert. It's visually quite cool to be in the middle of this little oasis. For me it was a bit like Classic Club with less teeth. Layout for the Lakes course is super fun with a great variety of holes long and shorter, plenty of water features that are really aesthetically pleasing, elevations that you don't expect to see, and a really fun routing that keeps you interested throughout the round. Conditions are above average all the way around, but there are some aspects that keep the course from getting an even higher rating. The tee boxes are actually a lot shaggier than one would expect, but they're flat and well placed. The bunkers were in good shape all around the course. Fairways were generally well covered and pretty green, but there were a few patches of thin lies and dried out areas, which is of course to be expected when you're right next to a massive solar farm that takes advantage of how much hot sun there is there at all times! I was definitely getting some good roll on those fairways that often left me just into the first cut of rough off the tee, and that rough was pretty thick and in good shape. It's just a few inches short of difficult, but currently of moderate resistance. The greens were in great shape. They rolled very true but it was pretty difficult to keep balls with any speed to them on the greens. A few of the holes had some patchwork areas on the greens which was visually more of a problem than anything else. But on good shots that landed softly, they were pretty fun to play. I would really like to play the Desert course next time I'm around that area. And if you're ever in that area midweek with some time, stop by. I actually cruised through the entire 18 in just three hours, and that was after being held up the last 3-4 holes by a twosome in front of me. Pretty fun little round all in all.

Played 3.8.18 with a 930 tee time as a foursome. The drive from vegas was a little less than an hour. Arriving at the course we were met with exceptional service by the staff. Genuinely nice people from the bag drop to the starter and the marshall all seemed to be very appreciative that we chose to play and spend money at their place and it was refreshing .

The course was in fantastic shape, the fairways lush , the rough was consistent height and the greens were medium speed and putts rolled true .

Several times during the round we had to remind ourselves we were playing golf in the desert! The Lakes course very much has the feel a sense of courses in Myrtle Beach or the RTJ golf trail, with fairways lined with pine trees, and oak trees it definitely did not feel like a desert course at al.

My only complaint on the day was there was no refreshment cart on the course, no place to get a drink or a light snack or anything while out there. They did provide water in the cart coolers but after that was gone we were like lost soldiers on a deserted island out there.

My advice pack your golf bag with some snack, book a time and go play this place.

Played the Lakes course on 10/28/17, about a month after overseeding was done. I was a bit wary after seeing many negative reviews, but the course was fine. Nice fairways, even coverage of sand in the traps I saw, and the greens rolled true, if a bit slowly.

If I was feeling nitpicky I'd point out that there were a few browned out spots on some fairways, and the tee boxes were a bit bumpier than I generally prefer. But the biggest knock overall was the unrepaired ball marks on greens. They were everywhere, and the greens were soft enough that they were fairly deep. I fixed at least 3 per hole it seemed.

At $49 via GolfNow hot deal and a 4:15 pace on a nice sunny day, it made for an enjoyable afternoon. The staff were all friendly and the food in the lounge was decent. There is a nice short game practice area here too, with two greens, one with bunkers and one with room for 50-yard pitches. I'll come back the next time I'm driving to Vegas and looking to play.

I haven't played the Lakes course in number of years and I use to love both courses, it was hard to believe there was two beautiful courses at the California / Nevada state line. Every time I'd played in the past the courses were extremely well kept and in immaculate condition... like top notch resort style courses. But it appears that was back then... now the courses are kind of run down... on the Lakes course the tee boxes were good but that's where the good news stops. The fairways were marginally OK and there was dead grass clippings everywhere, not just a little, there were lines and chunks everywhere which is just lazy maintenance and looks awful. I want to see and play lush green fairways. The sand traps were the worst I've ever seen for any course. First there's the lack of sand to the point that the liner material is exposed and tore up from shots being played. That's just a sign of poor maintenance or lack any maintenance. If a course can't maintain a sand trap then just fill it in and just have grass. The greens were OK, they were somewhat smooth but they lacked some maintenance because they could and use to be so much better. Overall I would skip this course (and the Desert course looked to be in worse shape) until it gets brought back to good playable condition. I did read some bad reviews online before I booked our tee times but I didn't want to believe them because of my past experience and especially since I called the Pro Shop and was told the courses were in "great shape except there were a few sand traps" that they were in the process of renovating. After out first round on the Lakes side we canceled our tee time for the following day on the Desert side and opted to play in Las Vegas. The next day we played at Siena Golf Club which was a good golf experience especially given the last minute tee time, plus we found it at a summer discounted special online.

Good for roll but not always great to hit off of. Bunkers were good and rough was minimally tough. Biggest disappointment were the greens. Looked like they still hadn't fully recovered from punching. Bumpy and a bit slow they detracted from the overall experience. A fun and challenging course I would play again but I bet it will be better in a month or so.

Played on Sat 4/2 8AM tee time. Agree pretty much with mpisarski01, Costa Mesa on his review. Our Men's club Weekender outing. Can't say enough about the Customer Service here. From the bag drop to the 19th hole they treat you great. The Course - Tee boxes were not beat up and fairly level, the fairways are still semi-dormant, firm and running well. The rough was at times punishing, the bunkers were disappointing - more dirt than sand, hard pan at times, some were soft but most had small pebbles in them. The greens were still recovering from aeration, they were firm and held only high soft landing shots. No wind today, compared to Friday round at Desert course. Another enjoyable day

Not sure what is going on here as the quality just didnt match what it has in the past. We played here at 750AM on the 2nd as the 2nd group out. We were a twosome and so was the group in front. after one hole they were gone and nobody caught up to us. POP was 2hr 45 mins haha thats not bad. The course is an interesting layout with some shot shaping needed to avoid nasty bunkers. I dont know if they removed some lakes but there wasn't a lot of water. there were some waste areas that look like they could have been water at one time but not for a while at least.

As for the conditions I was not impressed for the amount the charge and thats probably why there was not a lot of people on the course. That and it being 45 miles from Vegas in the middle of nowhere.

Tee Boxes- The boxes here were the best conditioned items on the course very lush and not a lot of divot damage. They have 4 main sets of tee here black, blue. white, and Green the tips playing about 6900 yards

Fairways- Fairways were semi lush with good coverage but cut too thin and it made for some strange bounces and lies. I was not impressed at all as some fair way was soft and some played like hitting off concrete.

Greens- They were punched a week or two ago and were recovering well. they were a little firm and fast but can hold shots. Putt's were bouncy as expected and mostly quick as they cut the greens short the day before.

Sand- I only found the sand twice and one was decent and one was full of rocks. My playing partner found every bunker on the course and one in particular he had a lot of issues in. He is normally a good bunker player but one bunker it took him 4 swings to get out. the first spot was hard as a rock the second was soft as can be and he didnt know what to do after getting in his head. I was very disappointed with rocks being in the sand because that can do some major damage to you wedges.

Rough- The rough on this course is disappointing as well because the dont water it directly only just over spray for water saving techniques. Most of the of the fair ways were about 10ft wide and separated the fairways from waste land of water. not a lot of grass more dirt than anything else.

As for the staff they were very nice and helpful and I have no complaints about them. We saw the cart girl about 5 times over the course of the round and was pleased about that.

The do have a deal for 135 than includes 2 drinks (including domestic beer), a 20 pro shop gift card and your round. If the course is in better shape like before its a heck of a deal because rack rate itself is 115 for the lakes and 99 for the desert. but not worth it right now as you can play much better conditioned course;s in the Vegas valley for the same price. i would play here again in summer heat for 40 bucks but they will not trick me into playing in April for $135
