Played on Tues 01/21 Had a $28.00 deal from deal caddy. Course is in good shape. Most of the tee boxes are in good shape with a few that seemed to have really fine wood chips on them . I don't know if they had aerated them recently. The fairways look lush but I thought they were a little thin and the greens are in great shape. Some of the greens have a very dark color to them. Rough is pretty minimal. Staff is friendly and POP was 4 hours

Bit of a belated review in that I played two weeks ago today with some other GKers. Great to play with Kevin and meet the rest of those guys – Steve, Rob and John. The course was in pretty good shape and I'd assume it's in even better shape now. The greens showed visual evidence of aeration, but I didn't feel that it ever affected any putts.

I was somewhat surprised by how much I enjoyed the layout. I generally am not a fan of courses "contrived" out of man-made mounding and such, but this course feels very natural in its contouring. There are a lot of fun and beautiful holes out here.

The customer service was great and the starter was really vigilant about keeping everyone on time, which was appreciated. Before my round I had one of the best Bloody Marys I've ever had along with some good pancakes and sausage in the restaurant/lounge. Looking forward to getting back here to play the Desert course someday.

Played 11-9-13 with johnnygk, longball23, and sixpez going out at noon and finishing around 4:30. For me the course was not up to its normal conditions. Tee boxes were ok some nice some thin but mostly level. Fairways on the back side were in good shape but the front side had a lot of patchy areas. Rough for the most part was decent about 2 inches and lush with an occasional bare spot. Sand traps were in poor shape very thin lies and hard. Greens were still showing signs from aeration and were slow and bumpy. I was a little disappointed in the overall conditions of the course. Costumer service was top notch as it usually is here. Had a great day with my playing partners and fun to watch sixpez shot his best round ever.

I have been wanting to play Primm Valley Lakes Course for over 7 years so to say I was excited about this round was an understatement. I teed it up with 8 other GKers on a busy day Saturday. Primm builds in a frost delay so they do split tee starts. Our groups were the last to tee it up starting on the back nine. We played at a fast pace finishing in under 4 and ½ hours. Overall the course was in great shape but not immaculate as I was expecting. Like SBogey stated, it appeared the greens needed a week or so to firm up more from aeration. As such they were too soft so foot traffic from the day of play and ball mark damage made the greens mostly bumpy. The fairways and rough were lush but in general on the dry side with a few thin spots. However they played fine. The tee boxes were in good shape (we played the blues) lush and level. The bunkers, like the other courses I played on the trip were firm and could have used more sand. The layout, well, that just blew me away! I thought every hole was interesting, challenging and beautiful. It could be one of my top 25 layouts I’ve played. Every hole sets up beautiful off the tee with great sight lines. Hit a great drive and be rewarded. Hit a poor drive and find yourself in a tough fairway bunker or in the trees. The bunkers are perfectly positioned to provide risk/reward off the tee and on approach. The greens are large and undulating yet not ridiculously difficult so birdie opportunities will be there. Hole 2 could be one of my favorite par 5’s. It’s a giant horseshoe around a big lake with many risk/reward opportunities from every tee box. I could play that hole 18 times. I’m kicking myself for waiting this long to play Primm and will be back out there sooner than later.

I was able to make it out to play with the GKers on Saturday. We went out as a 5some, and were pushing the group ahead the whole time. Finished around 4 1/2 hours, just before the sun dipped behind the mountains.

The Good: Customer service was great from start to finish. I was greeted every time I passed by staff and asked about our tee time. Excellent practice facility, with free range balls, 2 putting greens (a little faster than the course), and 2 large chipping/bunker areas. Tee boxes, fairways, and rough were in great condition for the most part. A few fairways (#2 in particular) didn't cooperate with the overseed, and a few holes were still Cart Path only.

The Bad: Bunkers and greens. The sand seemed like crushed gravel. No rocks, but thin and packed. Greens have not fully recovered from being punched. They were a bit bumpy and about medium speed. I expect they will be great in a few weeks.

Overall, a great course. A bit forgiving, with chances to recover. I sprayed the ball all over and still shot only 4 over my average playing the blues (I probably should of been at the whites). Only Tom Fazio course in the Vegas area that doesn't cost $500 (Shadow Creek, Wynn) and worth the price. I once heard Lakes called Shadow Creek "Lite," I won't go that far, but there are some similarities in the design. A great play while in Vegas and a reason to stop during the drive.

Another great GK day down at Primm Valley on Saturday. The weather was gorgeous and the course was great. It didn't hurt that I played the best round of my life, scrambling like crazy around this place! We were a little rushed out to the first (10th) tee and had a minor run-in with a group making the turn, but they never really pushed us and didn't have anything to complain about. This time of year, they have a really limited window of play after 10am, so it is what it is. We finished with enough light and I was happy about that! Others have already noted on the course conditions. Far from immaculate, but decent overall. Fairways mostly good, but I did have a number of lies that were on very firm/patchy sections of turf. The rough a bit patchy in areas, too, but fine. The greens still showing signs of recent aeration, but recovering nicely. We had some bumpy putts, but ultimately I think they played slightly better than they looked. I was in a couple bunkers. Not great, but playable enough with a relatively thin layer of coarse sand. Layout-wise, this was my favorite of the trip. Fairly forgiving off the tee on most holes, but some risk-reward options to tempt long hitters on holes like #2 and #10. Otherwise, not too hard to stay out of trouble and the course lays out pretty nicely in front of you, so there aren't too many surprises. Beautiful setting and lots of contour to the course. No major elevation changes, but not many flat spots either as it winds through the trees. I look forward to playing here again and really want to see what this place looks like when in immaculate condition!

Weather: Are you kidding me another day in paradise 76 degree tee off no wind...just perfect weather

Tees: Blue

Fairways: 8/10 I thought they were beautiful and probably the highlight of the course along with the tees. No complaints with all lies in the fairways. Over seed came in nice.

Tees 8/10 Very nice as well, fairly flat, little divot damage with some nice lush grass

Greens: 6/10 It pains me to rate them this low but for sure not what I expected. I was not the only one in our group that felt they were soft with a lot of foot traffic, very bumpy on putts and looked like maintenance that was completed a month or so ago still showed signs of needing repair. I am a tough critic on greens in that is the scoring part of golf---you want decent true roll on putts.

Sand 6/10--The sand was hardpan and packed in several greenside bunkers. Not all bunkers were hardpan so it depended on where you landed. Bunkers come into play very much here greenside which is one of the challenges to this course.

Rough: 7/10- Not that thick and not much to speak of.

Layout: I think its a very fun course and very score able. I do think with more sand in the bunkers and fixing the greens some this place would be off the hook nice. The layout is really fun. I don't think are group missed one drive on our first nine holes and we all had a lot of scoring chances. Its a fun layout with some super tough holes like #12 (long par 3) and #8 long par 4. There are also some awesome scoring chances and some great dogleg lefts and rights. I think both courses have special fun layouts and was glad to get out here again as it had been at least 10 years or so since I last played Primm.

Good times on our second day of GK Plays with our group of nine golfers. As a group of five, we made good time at less than 4 1/2 hours to finish, despite waiting for the groups ahead of us most of the way. The days are short and starting at noon pretty much makes us the last to go out for the day. I love this course. It is very scenic with trees, hills, and lush grass everywhere. It does not feel like the desert at all. The greens were nice and medium fast. A little bumpy at times, but that was probably due to footprints more than anything else. Tees and approaches into many of the greens were over seeded recently and need a little more time to really grow in, but it was not bad by any means. Generous fairways and lots of grass make this one of the easier courses I have played in the desert. However, it is plenty challenging with many well placed bunkers and elevated greens. There is a wonderful practice area with an all grass range, practice chipping, pitching, and putting greens. Great customer service.
