I was able to get out to LR yesterday for the first time in a couple of years and the first time in the winter. The course is in great shape for winter. Dormant bermuda roughs frame the deep green fairways spectacularly. If you haven't been here in a while, there have been some changes of note due to Covid. The golf shop is no longer in the main clubhouse building up top. Instead, it's been moved next to the snack bar right next to the range, putting green, and 1st hole. From a golf operational standpoint it makes a lot of sense for them. The only downside is they lost a lot of size and wow factor when you arrive since the new shop is smaller and darker but gets the job done quite nicely.

Course conditions were great throughout. Tees are lush and level. All you could want. Fairways have full coverage and provide a really nice hitting surface. The rough is mostly dormant bermuda however, since it's slightly warmer in Laughlin at night vs. Vegas, the bermuda is still hanging on for dear life in some spots which can lead to some fluffy lies. I was in a few too many bunkers but all were very good. Greens were awesome! Rolling at medium fast speed, holding shots, and little to no ball marks! This was my 3rd time playing LR but the first time that the wind was really blowing. It was a consistent 25-30mph all day. That made the course play LONG! It was unrelenting but fun in a masochistic kinda way lol.

Single or double rider carts were at the disrection of the golfers. Snack shack was closed by 1pm but the restaurant was full service and open at the clubhouse after the round. Gas carts are still in good shape but word on the street is that they'll soon be replaced by a new fleet of lithium ion carts. I sure hope Troon is buying the largest capacity batteries considering how hilly and large the property is. I can't see those electric carts lasting more than 27 holes max. I love this place and am looking forward to my next visit already!

A buddy trip that started at Laughlin Ranch 5/4 Saturday.Its a 1:20 hr drive from our place in Havasu but well worth the drive. Our 7:22 tee time was right on time after a fabulous breakfast burrito and warm up bucket of balls.Got paired up with a couple of locals which helps with this course.The course itself is absolutely awesome in layout and conditions to the point of wondering about the next hole before you finished the one your on. Every fairway lie was perfect.The greens rolled true but baffled us on speed, some slow some fast with no rhyme or reason.The fairway bunkers were a little on the firm side which is fine by me and green side bunkers softer. Nothing but good things to say about this place including the lunch afterwards.It was a great start to a weekend of golf which included Mojave Resorts and Emerald Canyon in Parker. More on that later

November 4, 2018- first time here. Well, this place is King around here. Ask the guys here in gK.org said, mpisarski01, sixpez, and kviser, who gave me great recommendation about this course was spot on. This place is upscale and a well maintained course. I had a 12:35 tee time, but I checked in early even though I was told about the tournament. I just wanted to get there early to putt and warm up, but 20 minutes in my warm up, the starter asked if I could go early, so he paired me with a couple from Apple Valley who were good playing group. Sunny skies, but it was a windy day, 30 miles an hour maybe, and made it tough to play in. The fairways are great and there are no roughs to hold a wayward rolling shot on a fairway. The teeing grounds were perfect. The greens were still recovering from aeration so it was a bumpy but surprisingly moving on a good speed. The bunkers are terrible with those pebbles- they were not only annoying, but I just don’t like it. No beverage cart around all day and the snack bar person does another job so you could either wait a while or you could try and go inside to find help. The guy at check in was fine, the guy at bag drop was okay, but the starter was cool. We went out at 11:00am and finished 10 minutes before 3:00- good pace. I imagine the greens would be great in a couple more weeks. Would want to play here again for sure!

Played on Friday, 8/10, with a 7am tee time. Joined by John_T, Famed02, and Andy.drew621, using the phenomenal GK coupon, which cut the price in almost half.

Arrived around 6:20 and told the tee box was ours whenever we wanted it but there was a high school qualifier going out as soon as we teed. Paid and headed out, joined by a local to make a 5some. He was great, has a house overlooking the 7th green/8th tee area, and joined in on the trash talking. Only saw the drink cart once.

Tees and fairways were incredible. Fairways like carpet, lush and dry with plenty of run. Rough was about 1-2 inches. Bunkers were fine. Greens were aerated in the last week, not with the small tines they said on the phone, so they were sandy and bumpy. I can never get here when they are good.

Overall, LOVE this course. Awesome views. Great conditions (if I can get here when the greens are pure). I'm willing to make the drive every couple of months.

After a 2 year, 7 month hiatus from golf for an insidious disease, I joined in a GKPlays outing on Sunday, July 15, 2018. I had not seen JohnnyGK and my other buddies for such a long time but I was welcomed back heartily which has always been the norm for GK members!

We were concerned with the heat but it was much more tolerable than we thought. The course was magnificent! Fairways were lush green leaving ideal lies, rough was short and lush which facilitated getting out of it! The tee boxes were lush and mostly level. Bunkers were damp with a top crust from the monsoon rain from the night before but could be escaped with a hardpan swing. The greens initially were damp and quite slow but got faster as the moisture evaporated. Since the maintenance crew could not mow the greens, the grain influenced putts by deflecting the ball unpredictably! Late in the round I started pounding the putt into the back side of the cup. That was only partially effective!

The cart girl came around once on the front nine and once on the back. There was water on the course at several holes to ensure you stayed hydrated. There was ice provided in the cart cooler which also helped.

Overall, the course was in great condition! I had problems with hitting fat shots with many clubs and the Bermuda grass complied by producing huge divots! We used most of the sand/seed on the cart! I was frustrated many times but in the end I realized I didn't do too badly after not playing in so long!

I played in the last group with JohnnyGK and Kviser who kept encouraging me throughout the round. Kevin would rake after bunker shots and John retrieved wayward balls for me. That is what being a GK member is all about. Thank you both for making my return round so enjoyable guys!


Staff at the course and in the restaurant were super nice and our group had a good time during the award ceremony and lunch afterward. Another great outing made possible by our own JohnnyGK! Very much appreciated John!

I had a great time playing here at the GK Plays Laughlin. I'm glad they were able to bring an event here because Laughlin is on the cusp of being a great golf destination with a little help. I love this course. It's spectacular, challenging, while always being fair. The views, elevation changes, and unique holes are second to none. I did get a little spoiled as the conditions were immaculate last time I played. It wasn't necessarily the staffs fault but I can't help and admit I left unsatisfied because the course was a near miss to being close to perfect again. Due to being unable to mow after the monsoon the greens were awfully slow. Even my hacker playing partners were leaving putts significantly short. They were in good condition just painfully slow. Also a lot of the bunkers were under repair or maybe being let go to make the course a little more playable. It was odd to look at but makes sense to do this during the summer heat. Also extensive rocks in the bunkers need to be raked. Great course, staff, conditions, but the slow greens took a lot of the excitement out of the round. Can't wait to come back and play it when the greens are fast.

Was a super fun GK Plays outing despite only 14 players and I thank everyone that came!

I had not played Laughlin Ranch since January and then it was a very nice conditioned rye turf course. This time around it would be a bermunda turf course. Not all golf courses transition well from rye to bermunda and vice-versa….I can safely to say Laughlin Ranch Golf Club transitions phenomenally. The course was lush bermunda everywhere. I only wish the night before the course did not get slammed by monsoons since this caused the maintenance to not be able to cut the greens that morning before our round. Hence we had slow surfaces to play however they rolled true and held shots great. Another thing worth noting is the golf course is currently doing a bunker renovation filling in some traps, reshaping and turning sand. Last time out that was not taking place yet. It’s an eye sore at times but nothing that significantly impacts play.

As far as an outing host, fantastic. The staff is great to work with and even handled a late night pairing change effortlessly. All the golf carts were staged correctly and afterwards we had ample room in their SLATE restaurant (delicious appropriately priced food). I liked how the driving range and practice putting green are perfectly position to both the 1st and 10th tees. The entire property is themed “Gold Miner” with authentic old mining equipment used as decorations throughout. Really brings a fun ambiance to the place.

GK will for sure be having another outing here. Maybe even as soon as early next year.

Posted some photos...check them out. Also compare them to the January photos I posted to get an idea of how different the golf course looks from Winter to Summer yet still awesome.

Decided last minute to drive out for the GK Event on 7/15 after some convincing by JohnnyGK and mpisarski01. I was at first skeptical about playing anywhere in Laughlin, let alone in July with the heat, but I'm extremely happy I did. Laughlin Ranch is a hidden gem and rivals many of the Palm Springs course at a much better price. I will be playing here anytime I'm close.

Mpisarski01, Kevbig, and teed of first just after 7. It was muggy but manageable with some lingering cloud cover with the storms from then night before. Considering how much it rained conditions were amazing and improved as the course dried out. Tee boxes were lush green and for the most part very flat. Fairways were almost perfect carpet like grass. I dont think I had a bad lie all day.

Rough was short and not very penal. The only time we had any trouble was if you were off in the dirt which was very soft and soaked from the rains. The only real negative to speak of all day was the bunkers. Some had a decent amount of small rocks but really weren't all to bad. Hard to tell what they are normally like because they were still very wet.

The grounds crew were not able to cut the greens before we played due to the overnight monsoons but the still looked great and roll true. They were pretty slow and soft but not to the fault of the crew at Laughlin Ranch. All in all a beautiful and challenging track that I cant wait to play again. This place is a steal for the price and conditions, two thumbs up!
