It’s been quite a while since I last played here. I’m happy to see that the course is in as good a condition as I remember it with the exception of the bunkers. It appears that some bunkers are being eliminated with marked GUR and grass planted. Other bunkers have a lot of small rocks which just gets worse the more you take. Most likely the bunkers are going to get redone. Anyway, I don’t remember hitting into one, but Jesse found plenty and got out most every time.

I’d give the tees, fairways, and rough high marks for appearance and playability.

Greens were very nice. A little slow but not terrible since they didn’t mow due to last night’s rain. They seemed very receptive to most shots. I felt that I could just hit right to the hole at times and not worry that my ball was going to run off.

Great times with the group and big thanks to Johnny for all the prizes and setting it up with LR.

Sitting here inside Slate Restaurant with Matt and Alex while waiting for the namesake burger and the rest of the GK’ers to finish their round ;). We were the lead group for the outing today and finished in a tad under 4 hours while playing through one group on the front and some minor waiting on the back. The course is mostly in excellent condition with the only exception being the bunkers. Green side had good sand but a lot of rocks in them and some of the fairway bunkers look like they’re being let go completely. But other than that the course is super green and lush! Greens were slower in the morning with the moisture from last night’s rain. But once they dried out they sped up a bit. Fairways were like carpet and super nice to hit from. Rough was healthy but for the most part, manageable. Tees were no problem at all. Simply put I love LR and will look forward to many more visits in the future. Thank you Johnny for once again doing all that you do!

Was in Bullhead City to visit family, and played Laughlin Ranch Tuesday (6/26/18) teeing off just a minute or two after our 7:32 tee time. The place was nearly empty, so my partner and I took our time with the range and practice green, both of which are very nice. The driving range’s turf was really excellent to hit off of, definitely one of the nicer ranges I’ve visited. The course played really well, with the exception of the greens. They definitely have just punched, so they are quite slow and bumpy. They’ll hold any kind of shot, which means you really can be aggressive with your approaches, and you have to be aggressive pitching and putting. They were consistent from green to green (the practice green was the same as well) and they’re definitely very healthy, and I bet in a week or so they’ll be excellent. The fairways were really nice to play from, plenty of roll and always giving a good lie. Rough was pretty short, very consistent, and not too much of a penalty. Bunkers are hit and miss, they have some rocks in them and it looks like a couple are being let go, and are returning to a natural desert state. Tee boxes were nicely level, although were due for a cut it seemed. I only had time for 1 round on this trip, and I’m really glad I played here. The layout is a ton of fun, with one good hole after another. The course is very healthy, you can see that they take very good care of the fairways, greens and tees. The views of the city and river in one direction, plus the desert mountains in the other, can be absolutely stunning. I wish I could swing another trip down to make the upcoming GK event here, because I bet you’ll all have a blast.

Played here Sunday. Wow this course is awesome I was duly impressed. Without hyperbole this course can stand toe to toe with any premier courses in Palm Springs or Scottsdale. I'm shocked they built and maintain such a nice course is Laughlin. With the GK coupon this may be one of the best deals in golf right now. The course is in pristine condition right now. Not a blemish on the greens and green fairways all the way through. The greens are soft and you can actually spin back approach shots which is unheard of in summer desert golf. Some mighty double tiered greens leave delicate putts. My only minor nitpicking would be to speed the greens up a notch and add higher quality sand to the bunkers and this would be an elite course. It was cool seeing hoof prints on a green from the burros. Never seen that before.

The tee boxes are perfect and they do a tremendous job here with the presentation of the holes. This isn't brutal course course but it is demanding. You have to be precise with your drives and be ready to hit long irons into elevated greens.

This course has everything anyone can ask for in a course. Every hole is different. The risk reward short drivable par 4's are a blast. The par 3's require careful consideration on how aggressively you want to attack the flag. The recessed green on the 4th is very unique. The par 5's are reachable with a good drive but put you in the 5 wood to 3 wood danger zone to test your bravado. The hole on the back nine with a blind tee shot to a recessed green on a cliff face is a special hole. The finishing 18 is epic. The club house is top notch.

I can't say enough nice things and this course absolutely wowed me. I can't wait to play in the upcoming Meet and Play. Play here any chance you get.

Played 1-19-18 With John, Matt and Kevin mid morning getting around the course in a little over 4 hours with not much waiting until the back nine where we waited a little bit on a slow threesome. Tee boxes were level, lush, cut tight and in great shape. Fairways were very green with good roll out and great lies. Rough was dormant Bermuda, but still in real good shape, not to long but a little bit of a club grabber when the ball sat down. A good majority of the bunkers are being redone with a little re-shaping and new sand being added, should be great when they are done. Greens are still filling in a little from re-seeding but they are still in great shape, rolling smooth at medium/fast pace and holding well struck shots nicely. Very fun course to play with some nice elevation changes and great views of the surrounding area.

This was one, fun, GK Guru round on Friday 1/19 with rgm2525, kevbig and mpisarski01. I had not played Laughlin Ranch Golf Club in years. And every time prior to this visit it was in the heat of summer. I really liked the course then with its lush bermunda summer turf but this time around, with the season rye grass, place was near immaculate. The only blemish with the course right now is the bunkers as they are systematically being reshaped and replenished with sand. Other than that, the entire golf experience from conditions, to layout, to facilities, to food, to service top notch. This course is so under the radar being in Bullhead City, AZ but Bullhead City is only 90 minutes from Vegas and from Southern California just as long of a drive to go to Vegas. It’s directly across the river from Laughlin Nevada (hence Laughlin Ranch) which is right on the Colorado River. There is also other courses to play in the area. I kid you not, this course, and this area, is about to bust on the scene as a golf destination.

As far as the golf course, fantastic challenging yet fair layout with beautiful desert views throughout (check out the photos I posted). Lots of fun risk/reward holes. Tons of elevation changes. Big undulating greens. Ample room off the tee to reward all good drives yet punish the bad one. Some amazing signature holes like #5, #12 and #18 which come to mind.

I loved the greens, smooth, moderately fast and very sticky (held shot great). Fairways, immaculate, perfect 10. Rough dormant bermuda yet still thick and long enough to give you problems, tee boxes in super shape, level and well groomed. And as mentioned before the bunkers, the only sore spot, very thin, firm yet in the process of being repaired.

The new owners are very serious now and moving forward to continuing to maintain/improve the experience. The first investment they made was an entire fleet of the new gas powered Yamaha carts. They are so quiet and decked out. Loved them. They have outstanding food in the restaurant and snack bar. Try the slate burger. Also the clubhouse is grand and magnificent doubling as a spa resort. Service all day spot on and helpful. I liked the place so much I’m definitely going to set up a GK Plays here! - Highly Recommended.

Played on Friday the 19th and one word comes to mind WOW!. I had never heard of this course and would have never played here had it not been for Greenskeeper.org. Situated in Bullhead AZ/ Laughlin NV its not an area I visit very often. Luckily its on about a 1.5 hour drive from Vegas or 4 hours from OC/LA and now that I know about it I will play again.

The course is designed up and down the hills above the mighty Colorado river and offers amazing views of the river and mountain backdrops. This course can eat you alive if the winds are up and your game is off. Although they offer generous fairways and not a ton of forced carries the elevation change make it very intimidating. You might want to bring a rock club with you as the rough is maybe 10 yards wide on the edges of the fairways and then you have the desert.

The conditions for the day were amazing. Dark emerald green fairways with dormant rough that was still very thick and penal. Tee's that were flat and little divot damage, and greens that you could really spin the ball on. The greens were the highlights for me they were fast but manageable. While trying to fix a divot I noticed there are two types of grass one for the winter and one for the summer and the roots were very healthy. You had to give it a little extra muscle to fix a divot.

We saw the cart girl probably 6 times throughout the round and she was very nice. Every staff member treated us like royalty from the moment we arrived to the afternoon meal at Slate. I highly recommend eating there as the food was top notch. I had the Roaster sandwich and it was very tasty.

The new owners are definitely making a difference and this course with soon be the most amazing facility in the tri-state area if it isn't already.

Day 2 of the GK Guru plays NV/AZ brought us to Laughlin Ranch. I had previously never even heard of this course but in the lead up to today I had been doing my research and it looked amazing. Let me tell you something, the pictures don't do this place justice. It's beyond what you've heard or have seen in pics. A true must play if you're in the area.

Tees- Level, lush, and minimal damage. Great!
Fairways- Perfect. No really...there's literally nothing to complain about. They're beautiful to look at and even better to play from. They were like carpets and you'd almost feel bad taking divots. Almost ;)
Greens- Held all shots like darts but were smooth and true rolling at med-fast speeds. Really nice surfaces to play on.
Rough- Dormant bermuda but they still had some bite to them as there were several occasions where our balls would nestle down to the bottom.
Bunkers- The only weak spot as they are thin and full of pebbles/small rocks but Chris, the owner & GM, told us after the round that they're in the process of renovating them and adding new sand. Once they're done, I have no doubt they'll be awesome.

The layout of the course has you playing up or down, toward or away from the Colorado River. Spectacular views are everywhere! This course will reward good shots and punish poor ones but most holes have generous landing areas off the tees.

Carts are new gas powered carts that have GPS and USB plugs onboard. They're super quiet for being gas. The clubhouse is super impressive with a full service spa, banquet facilities, restaurant, bar, gym, etc...A true all in one destination. The slate burger after the round was so good! All employees that we encountered were super friendly and seemed genuinely happy to work there. So refreshing to see! Laughlin Ranch is a course that I fell in love with right away and I can't wait to be back!

Shotgun start at 9AM, Customer Service was excellent, all the staff made sure we would have an enjoyable time.

The Course - Almost totally healed from previous aeration, looks like they did blade cutting of tee boxes, and certain areas of the fairways.
Tee boxes were fairly level with very few divots, The fairways has the usual few brown spots for Desert courses, ball rolled well. Rough was cut short but hard to come out of. Bunkers were like at Mojave course, packed dirt and pebbles. The greens were visually nice and green, we were informed that they had been cut and rolled early that morning. They were very quick, 10.5/11 stimp, but ran true with some unexpected breaks for us playing it for 1st time in 4 yrs.

As part of our package they set us up with a private area near the practice green and range and added a deli meat buffet with salads, and pastries. Great time, great round for me, and another fun Tourney.
