Played here, first time, on 5/14/2021. Overall, I loved, not only the course, but the entire Trilogy operated Wickenburg Ranch complex. I left here feeling I could retire on the property. In fact, was looking in the PHX area for a new home, and the one and only downside to this property, is the location. About 45 minutes WNW of Surprise, with nothing in between. The small town of Wickenburg provides some of the essentials, but no 'big box' retail until you get to Surprise. On to the course. Gated community, but for now, course still open for public play. The course will eventually become private. Currently managed by Troon Prive'. Very clean and drop off complex which includes a small eatery and larger bar and restaurant. ALL staff inside and out were very friendly and accommodating. Very large, beautifully landscaped putting area at 1st tee staging area. Also, very nice and huge practice range and short game area. Starter escorts you to 1st tee and provided just the right amount of course related detail. Tee boxes were perfect and each tee box had a yardage plate at the back of the tee box with distance to the aiming pole ion the fairway. I played the course at 6200 yards and all of the yardage plates were about 220-240 from the aiming pole. No GPS, so essential you understand that bit of information. Fairways were nearly perfect. Still very green and lush. Some nice elevation changes and interesting throughout. Homes around the course but never, that I can recall, were in play or obtrusive. Very good fairway and greenside bunkers, very well maintained and rakes are back ! Greens were very interesting and challenging as well. Medium fast to fast, firm, smooth, and nice undulation which can funnel your shots close, depending on pin location. Very fair course and can be as challenging as you want to make it with 6 tee sets from 4847-7023 yards, with water in play on 4-5 holes. Fun layout, great views of surrounding hills / mountains, throughout, with an excellent par 5 18th back up towards the amazing clubhouse / restaurant complex. I haven't even mentioned the Lil' Wick course, which is a very cool 9 hole par 3 course on the property. Didn't play it, looked to be in exact same, high quality condition. It sits around the Watering Hole which is the hot spot for residents to hang out. A peninsula which includes a small bar and restaurant with plenty of seating, and TV's, all outdoors. One of the most fun locations I've ever played, and just might be where I buy my next home.

AN excellent course in great early spring conditions. Fairways were green and lush. Greens were smooth and fast. Starter advise to play less break than you see was spot on. Played on March 27.

This is a review of the nine-hole par 3 Little Wick course. I played it today just to take a break after a long morning of driving. This is an unusual, beautiful, and challenging par three course. It is a long cart ride from the clubhouse down a road and over a hill to the course. The routing was very confusing but I finally made my way there. In the center of the course is the Watering Hole food & drink spot. It is surrounded by three golf holes with water features. There is a very large patio seating area which I hear is usually very crowded. There weren't too many people out there today, though, I'm sure due to the 106° temperature. The course is very interesting. Each hole has three sets of tees. I played the middle set making the longest hole being 145 yards. The shortest was about 88. The layout was very fun with lots of mounds and swales. The fourth hole has a very high drop from the tee box. That was my favorite and my only birdie of the day. The conditions were wonderful. Tee boxes and fairways were completely green and lush. I was not in any bunkers but they looked good. The greens were a surprise. They were so fast it was like putting on glass. I was excited to try out my putter with the new grip I just put on but that wasn't enough to help. Only familiarity with the greens will help me score better there. There are several areas throughout the course with signs marked "chill zone" with chairs and even hammocks hanging from the trees! Getting a glimpse of the Big Wick made me sure I'm going to come out here again to play that. The courses will be closed October 5- 27th for overseeding and will be cart path only until November 9th. Played Wickenburg Ranch on Sunday, 11/17 to round out a trip to Arizona. Booked on their site a couple days earlier for $108 + tax. Their "dynamic pricing" seems to fluctuate a lot and that was one of the best prices I saw while monitoring available tee times during my stay. Wow, was it worth it! First off, they accommodated my request to bump my tee time back half an hour when I had some extra stuff to do in the morning, so they pushed my original 11:10 to 11:40 with no qualms whatsoever. Then when I arrived, everyone was really friendly and the starter gave me a yardage book when I said it was my first time playing the course. It's a Troon-managed facility with the customer experience to match their lofty reputation. I was paired with two nice, fun Canadians who work in the golf industry. The group ahead of us was pretty quick and except for short waits a couple times, we virtually made our own pace. I think we finished in around 3.5 hours. (Which worked out well because it gave me enough time to go play Li'l Wick afterward, which was fun. $30 extra.) I was a little surprised there's no GPS on the carts, but the yardage book made up for it. Big Wick was in absolutely pristine condition. The practice putting green was maybe the finest condition green I've ever seen... absolutely perfect and lightning fast, just a tad faster than the on-course greens. The actual greens were extremely smooth, medium-fast to fast and more firm than soft. Fairways were like carpet. Rough was lush, beautiful and about 2-3 inches deep. I wasn't in a bunker on Big Wick but they looked great, and the one I found on Li'l Wick was perfect. The rectangular tee boxes are so perfectly manicured with sharp edges, striking an amazing contrast with their desert surroundings. 10s all across the board. What a fun course! My game was nowhere to be found both Saturday and Sunday, but I still had an amazing time playing Big Wick. The six par 3s are all fantastic. The course offers lots of different looks, everything from wide-open fairways to the par-4 16th, which played down a tight canyon chute. True desert golf with lots of forced carries and tons of elevation changes. I'm still trying to figure out where this one ranks among my all-time favorite courses. It might actually crack my Top 10, which would make it my favorite Arizona course I've ever played. On top of the great layout and amazing conditions, it's just a cool place with a very refined, yet laid-back vibe that makes you feel good being there. I really didn't want to leave, and I hope to get back again sometime soon. I played Li'l Wick with a nice local guy who said a perk of living in the Wickenburg Ranch community is getting to play Li'l Wick all you want for free! Crazy! (Johnny: This would be a phenomenal GK Event venue!)

Tee boxes are great and so are the greens.
The fairways had so much water on them and there was so much mud on my ball after my tee shots, I played lift clean and replace. Off the fairways and areas near the green were the complete opposite. There were many dried out areas.
Course is a favorite of mine and usually in great shape, but not this time.

Rough is minimal and just starting to dry out. Greens are excellent. Semi firm and pretty quick with some wicked pin placements. Was in three bunkers and all had good sand in them. Played with a couple from Phoenix and was told they plan to build Three Thousand Homes in the area

Played on Wednesday, 5/17, as we drove from Vegas to Phoenix for a weekend of golf. Excellent course to start off the trip. I was excited for it after reading and talking to Sixpez about his trip here.

Course has a private club feel to it. You pull up to a guard gate to enter the community the course runs through. The club house, pro shop, and event areas have a western motif to them and just feels laid back. There's chairs, couches, a fire pit all around so you can watch play as you relax before or after the round. There's some yacht rock type music pumped through speakers near the practice green. Practice facility is great. Large driving range which is included. Large putting green with lots of undulation (if you want to practice a putt that drops like 5 feet, here's your chance). Practice green was consistent with the course.

Course was in great shape. A mild spring has kept the course in fantastic condition. Lush green fairways with no thin/brown areas. Rough was about 1 inch or so and easy to hit out. Bunkers were a bit crispy, with some pebbles. Greens were super firm, but smooth and fast. You had to just hit to the front and let it roll up. Tee boxes were pretty good, some damage on the par 3s.

Great course and worth the drive. It's in a housing community, but they're not really noticeable. A nice variety of holes. The uphill 9th is incredible, along with a couple of elevated tees. We paid $80 for a 11:40 tee time, basically had the course to ourselves, played in just under 4:30. Great customer service.

Had the pleasure of playing Wickenburg Ranch yesterday morning. Booked a 7:10 tee time (big Wick/L'il Wick combo option—more on that later) on their site for $99 (plus AZ tax). A bit pricy, but not bad here for a primetime Saturday morning time based on the prices I've been seeing in the past month or so. I was paired with a local couple (club members/residents) and we went off second behind a slower foursome. We pressed them all day and finally they let us through on the 13th hole. Still, a great pace of about 3:40 overall. The course was in excellent shape. They just hosted the Arizona Senior Open on Wed/Thu, so it was conditioned for that level of play. The tee boxes were perfect. The fairways were fantastic. If you look really really hard, you might see a tiny light brown spot here and there, but it was really lush and green here. The rough was well manicured throughout, cut low and not penal at all. The fringes were cut as tight as the greens at some courses. The greens were firm, yet receptive enough. Rolling smooth and pure at fast speeds. The greens on a few of the shorter holes were a bit pock-marked, but nothing that affected putts. My only gripe with the course conditions is the bunkers. The sand is very coarse with a lot of rocks and pebbles. One bunker I was in was also very damp, so it was like hitting out of wet concrete early in the morning. The sand (gravel?) itself was well kept and raked, so the coarse style sand here is purposeful. Other than maybe staying put in the wind, I don't understand why they would have it on such a top-shelf course. Bunkers aside, I wouldn't have anything else negative to say about Wickenburg Ranch. It's a first-class golf experience all the way. The clubhouse is beautiful, the practice facilities are great and the staff is very friendly and helpful. And, the course is really neat. Very hilly/undulated with a lot of deceptive sight lines. More forgiving than it looks sometimes and less forgiving than it looks other times. Bring plenty of golf balls because anything in the desert just disappears. This is a must-play course that makes a side trip to Wickenburg worth the stop! After the main round, I played a quick nine on "Li'l Wick," the 9-hole par-3 course. For maintenance reasons, they don't open this course until 11:00 daily. However, they do have lights on the final four holes, so it can be played later. I believe any round on Li'l Wick is good for unlimited play. There are speakers throughout the course playing music. There is a cool bar area. There are "chill stations" throughout the course. It is meant to be more of a hangout/party spot with a little pitch and putt golf mixed in. The course itself is really fun. The greens here are big and have some crazy shapes/undulation, making for some interesting pin placements and good variety from day to day. There are three sets of tees. The shortest keeps everything under 100 yards for pure fun. The longest set stretches out quite a bit if you want much more challenge. It's worth checking out if you are at Wickenburg Ranch (especially if you are with a group) and have the time. If you book on their website, the Big Wick/Li'l Wick combo price is usually the same (or close enough to) the regular 18-hole rate, so why not?

Overview: Wickenburg Ranch Golf Club is located in the community of Trilogy at Wickenburg Ranch and is developed by Shea Homes. This community is located in Wickenburg, Arizona which is about 60 miles northwest of Phoenix, Arizona, and opened in February of 2015. What is very interesting about the course is that it was built in 2008, and for those 7 years before 2015 there was no public play at the course. What is great about the course is that there is 12 minute tee time intervals and only 72 rounds a day (18 foursomes). Wickenburg Ranch is doing this because they want to give off a "private" course feel. They do plan on going private in the next 2 - 3 years. What is interesting about the course are the green fees. For example, golf was $64 today and for $15 more you could get a Travis Mathew hat and for an additional $25 more you could get a Travis Mathew golf shirt. So, $104 and tax gets you golf, a hat and shirt ... great deal. Of course, the price goes up in the high season, but last winter I paid $130 for golf, a shirt and a pullover ... an even better deal. Course: A tremendous layout of 6 par 3's, 7 par 4's and 5 par 5's ... a very unique design. I was amazed at that condition of the course because they start to overseed the course on Monday 10/17 and they will come out of overseed on Friday 11/11. The tee boxes were perfect ... flat and very little divot damage. The fairways were in great shape and the rough was in good shape but not very penal. The greens are bentgrass, which is very rare in the desert, and will of course not be overseeded. Thus, when the course come out of overseed they will not be shaggy and slow. The greens ran at an 11 today and were in great shape. The only minor issue was that there was some divot damage on some of the greens. Why can people not fix their ball marks? Most of the greens are double tier and have very subtle breaks. You have to play the course a couple of times before you can really understand the greens. Summary: The golf course is building a permanent clubhouse and I was told that it will be completed in the 1st quarter of 2017. I was also told that they are trying very hard to have it ready by Super Bowl Sunday. The clubhouse sits right by the putting green and will overlook the 1st tee and the 18th green. This is a great course that will unfortunately go private when enough homes are built and golf memberships are sold. This should take about 2 or 3 years and until that happens I will definitely be making the trip to Wickenburg once or twice a year.
