First time playing here, easy walking course. Range is mats with shot tracer. Course is very exposed and gets windy as the day goes on, which seems necessary to make this course tough. Fairways on the front are wide open, links style. You can get away with some pretty loose drives because the fairways are so wide, but they are in fantastic shape with a lot of roll. The slope rating on this course is pretty low and it plays easy when there’s no wind.

Greens are supposed to be the best part about this course and they lived up to the hype. Every green was fantastic, smooth, super fast, but true. Approaches held, putts were often straighter than they looked, but overall best greens I’ve played in Bay Area. I could see pace of play being an issue as this course was a zoo by the time we finished. Play early, avoid the wind and the crowd.

Played on Nov 11th '23 for our first of 36 holes that day. Teed off at 7:20am to a very energetic marshal who got us fired up for our round (sorry to forget his name). We started off in the dew and ended up getting insane weather. There was hardly a breeze and by 11am the course was cooked, with the greens rolling so firm and fast that they were shining like a major championship course and had zero pitch marks from our approaches. The layout of this course is very fun, mostly because of the green complexes and bunkering. Bunkers were all in great shape and were fair to play out off, as opposed to the many public courses I play with hardly any sand and large pebbles in the traps. It's as walkable as it gets and a couple of my buddies who live in the area said it usually gets quite windy and that we lucked out with our conditions. 10-13 is a very tough stretch of holes, especially playing from the back like we did. Overall, it's an impressive municipal course and I'm sure it'll only get better. Kudos to the greenskeeper, the greens were unbelievable for a public track with that much play. At least an 11.5/12 and so firm that pitch marks were non-existent from our group, and we are all single digit hdcps.

Played here today with a 7:40 TeeOff.com "Deal" time booked a few days ahead for approx. $60 with cart. Arrived about an hour early, checked in smoothly and was told I could start early if I wanted. Played behind a twosome but tried not to push them, hanging back and taking pictures. POP was great; a little under 3.5 hours. My cart's seats were embroidered "San Luis Obispo Country Club" and the cart paths are the weirdest paths ever... There are rounded curbs on both sides of the paths, and then typically the grass is mounded around the paths, so every time you leave the cart path, the cart partially feels like it's going to tip over. Seems like whoever built the paths didn't understand that cart paths don't have curbs. Truly bizarre.

Conditions were quite good, especially the greens. They are smooth, fast, and firm with some good undulations, both subtle and pronounced. There were some unfixed ball marks but otherwise they are great. Fairways have mostly good coverage and provide pretty tight lies. The fairway on hole 12 was more beat up than the others. The rough was in good shape and varied from short to penal, and then there's some really long stuff around the bunkers that I fortunately avoided. Black tee boxes were good. I wasn't in any bunkers but they looked good and maintenance was out in force tending to them.

The layout is somewhat reminiscent of Olivas Links and also reminded me a bit of Royal Links in Vegas. I didn't like it quite as much as those courses, but it's pretty solid. I was happy to have a GPS app because some holes aren't very obvious where they go. Would be a pretty easy walking course. Recommended.

This was a fun, neat course. It's a Rees Jones design, which was one of the selling points for me, because he's a relatively famous course architect. It's a links style, and it was quite windy, which definitely added to the challenge. Conditions were good from tee to green (including bunkers), but the star of the course was the greens. They were very slick, faster than any I've played in a while, with lots of undulation to boot (plus the aforementioned wind). But they rolled true, so they were fun to experience. The fairways were fairly wide, so the other defenses were lots of bunkers, thick rough (especially around the greens), and very tall grass, water, and other hazards if you stray too far from the fairway.

Service was great, with an awesome restaurant with a huge menu, and an expansive practice facility featuring a huge driving range (mats), multiple putting greens, a short game area with a large green & bunkers. There is also a 9 hole par 3 course here, and another regulation 9, which I believe is in the process of being rebuilt into a second regulation 18. All in all, this is a great and affordable place to check out if you are in the Oakland area.

Played Thu 12/30, 7:30am, walked on as a single. Busy. CPO. Walked in 4 1/2 hrs. Course predictably soggy with all of the rain the last 2 weeks. Greens surprisingly firm and fast, running at least an 11. Great layout in pretty good winter shape. North course 9 holes are open, looking forward to that. I play here whenever I am in town.

The first 3 holes of the front 9 seemed in better shape, and the rest of the 9 to the quick look. It's a wonderful track. greens running fast 11. firm. I'm sure once the rains have passed, this course will be back on track. But would play here again anytime.

You need to be a high ball/spin player to hold these greens but it’s doable. Pitch shots release hard so all of the slopes on the greens need to be accounted for. The reviewer below said it best, the back 9 is phenomenal. With the current conditions of the greens and the price point I would recommend you get out and play it!!

The greens were running fast... and newer greens are near impossible to hold... so you do have to play some rollout. I feel that if you replaced the Oakland Airport with the Pacific Ocean, you'd have a legit $200+ course. That stretch of back 9 that abuts against the airport are some quality holes. There are some elevation changes, quite a few uneven lies... I think it's #12... a beast of a par 4 hole uphill. Easy walk. Will try to play this one again.
