Played on 3-30-06 using to save over 50%...Had a great time...Very good condition overall except for a few bunkers that had wet or dried up sand...The greens are NOT as fast as it used to be but still putts true...No real need to hit driver here on most holes since it's less than 6,000 yards from the tips...Course management is a must in order to score well here...All and all I love this course as a change of pace from the usual 7,000 plus courses and it does test your short game and putting so it's both challenging and fun to play here...
Played today with my buddies and had the most unusual request from a Marshall I've ever encountered on a golf course...At the third hole, a Marshall named Jerry drove by and told us the course GM was playing behind us so he wanted us to waive them up on the par 3's after reaching the green which we always do anyway....Then on the Par 5 6th hole while we were putting on the green he drove by again and asked us to stop putting and let the group behind us(namely his boss and his guests) hit onto the green first before we putt...I've been golfing for almost four years and my buddies for over thirty years and we've never heard of this bullcrap on a Par 5 before anywhere...And I play once a week all over LA County and even at some private clubs...
This is a blatant case of a Marshall trying to kiss up to his boss and we simply refused and kept on playing...Tripp, you better put a stop to this non-sense or you won't see us and our buddies visiting your course ever again!!!
Played a free round using on Wed. 12-21-05 with GK member PUTT4Dough...
Not much to brag about...Fairways are crappy with lots of bare spots and dried up mud...Greens are slow and inconsistent...Not much rough around and plenty of dried up sand in the bunkers...The only time I'd play here is when it's free!!!
Played last Friday the 23rd, fairways and greens were still recovering from the recent overseeding and aeration. It was cart path only and they had gotten rid of the GPS system to save a few bucks...Not enough yardage markers on the course made it a long day without GPS...The carts were pretty beat up as well, not the same carts they had before...
Not as good a value as it used to be and definitely not worth the drive from Pasadena based on the course conditions right now...I'd rather play Brookside or Whittier Narrows for about the same or less money...
Played a free round using, part of the network...Conditions are deteriorating fast, I'd give it a 6 out of 10 overall...Many bare spots on the tee boxes and in some fairways and greens, inconsistent sand quality in the bunkers, and some greens have way too many ballmarks and bare spots...
The only good thing about playing in the afternoon is the pace of play...Teed off around 1:45pm and finished by 5:15pm...Can't beat that...Better get out there before UCLA football season starts next month...
Played on July 12 using to save over 50%...Best part about this service is NO Booking Fees...Can't beat that!!!
Course condition OK but not as good as the past few months...
Probably around a 6 out of 10 overall...Teed off around 2:15pm and finished in 4 hours, not bad for Brookside which usually takes at least 4.5 to 5 hrs during the week and much worse on the weekends...
Played on Wednesday, May 25th for $25 Silver Anniversary Special...Walked on with another twosome since no one seems to be able to secure a tee time ahead of times...Finished in 5.5 hrs...
Course in fantastic conditions right now...I'd give it an 8 overall...
Played from the White Tees and enjoyed the round very much...
Didn't need to hit Driver on too many holes here, as the course puts a premium on accuracy off the tee over pure distance...Just wish I could have made a few more putts!!! Can't wait to play it again!!! Easier of the two course around the greens and on the greens...
Played on Friday, Feb. 25 for only $25 with their Silver Anniversary Special...Course very wet and soggy in most places except for the bunkers and greens...Beat up carts with NO GPS made it a long day on the course...6 hour round...Greens are still very fast even with all the rain...Tough to read the breaks here...
Very easy to three putt unless you're below the whole...Overall,
it's a bargain for $25 but not really worth it at the regular green
fees without GPS...Very challenging course around and on the greens...
What a gem of a golf course...True diamond in the rough, much fairer test and more player friendly than the two SCPGA courses across the freeway...Only complaints are the inconsistent sand quality of some of the bunkers and the lack of a beverage cart. Played in under 4 hours on a Friday afternoon as a twosome, never saw anyone in front of us which was really
cool...Teed off around 1:30pm and finished by 5:30pm...Had a great time. Greens are fast and firm yet held approach shots well unlike the SCPGA courses...Keep your tee shots in the fairways or first cut and you'll score well here. Play the white tees if you're not single digit...This is as good as it gets!!!
Go play this course before all the housing construction is done. Very playable course for all levels. Tough greens with subtle breaks and undulation. Many 2 to 3 tiered greens here, lightning fast if you're not below the hole. Wide open fairways on most holes, you can definitely grip it and rip it as long as you don't slice or hook too much. Good food at the snack bar, good customer service, the beverage cart drove by 5 or 6 times today. Pace of play is great at 4 hours with hardly anyone around on a Friday afternoon. The course is walkable. Very reasonably priced. Reminds me of Sierra Lakes without the GPS. Needs more yardage markers for riders though. GPS would be nice. Overall a very positive experience. Above average layout and good customer service.
Played yesterday afternoon for the very first time with JohnnyGK. Beautiful course with a great layout. Wide open fairways on most holes yet the course plays longer into the prevailing wind. Love the par 3's and par 5's here. Well-maintained course except for the many unrepaired ballmarks on the greens. Finished in 4 hours and will be back soon. BTW, JohnnyGK shot a 77 yesterday, very impressive considering it's his first time playing Sierra Lakes. Way to go, JohnnyGK!
Spectacular golf course, it does NOT get any better than this in public golf, both value wise and challenge wise. Greens are super firm and lightening fast in the afternoons. Severely sloped and undulating greens are the trademark of this course, along with two to three-tiered greens. Not recommended for high handicappers but a great course for mid to low handicappers.
