I reviewed this recently and nothing has changed but i have some photos this time. Southern Arizona can really put some teeth into it's target golf. These shots at Del Lago show it. Great staff and course. Check the photos of the monsoon rolling in on us and the wild Bob cat who gave me a show at a tee box. FUN stuff.

Played for the first time and it is a great course. Very good shape right now. I'll play tighter next time now that I've seen some danger zones. It has every aspect you could want (or not) Elevation changes, forced carries over desert and water, vicious bunker placements, snaking fairways, blind greens d%mn ! Just gorgeous though. I heard it's owned by the fella who owns the water company so it STAYS green. Right now some courses are dry from temps. The landscaped elements were very well done and involved in play. I like that. This is what Fred Enke wants to be when it grows up. Fred Enke is a local city course. Well worth the 20 minute drive from east Tucson. Loved it!
Why can't I hit a ball 145 yds. if it's over water? This is what I brought back from today.

Played on July 4th anit's at a "C+" level. pretty green and healthy for Tucson right now. Aerating the greens and they are SLOW! Fun course though. It's one of my favorite Tucson Muni's. It had the LPGA on it in the 90's. Alot of placement golf with some distance holes. The constant winding with all the hill and valley spots makes it a constant thought based approach.
Do yourself a favor and get some food at the grill. Good stuff and great beer selection and prices. Seriously, not shooting for a discount....but...
Check it out when in Tucson.

Played on June 18th.2013. Great course. Lots of up and down with encroaching pine forest all around- fact: Northern Arizona has the largest stand of Ponderosa pine in the world.- very green with little creek hazards back and forth some water holes but the greens are FAST and slope laden. Very quiet course I love that. The clubhouse has a little grill and Michelobs are 2.50!! Great little forest adventure cabins are right out to the fairway on some holes and # 14 is a gorgeous little forested dogleg left then right par 5 with scrub area hazard and fairway rough spots quite tricky my double bogey was hailed as a fair score by fellow hackers. Go see it if your in Show Low Arizona.
I did hear they had been purchased and were going to change the starting hole to # 15 and build a new clubhouse but the recession halted that plan and the scorecard on GK reflects the "New" albeit never happened layout and my GPS had a misconfigured readout as well FYI.

This is a VERY popular muni course here and it's in transition condition right now but the overall layout is pretty bland to me. I prefer a more "targety" kind of golf but this one does have nice facilities, I fully recommend having breakfast. The practice facility is nice. Worth a trip if you can beat the 60.00 clubhouse price but really it's all you could expect from a city run course not bad, not great.

Played 5/18/13 and it's in O.K. shape. Greens ant tee boxes are really nice. Fairways at a 7 of 10 for a muni in Tucson. Rough and fairway hard to separate being mowed about the same but it's alright. worth a visit.

Played today and it is the best Muni condition ways in Tucson. Overall a "B" grade. It's green and pretty nicely laid out. Lots of up and down challenges, some fun par 3"s and a sensible length for us Hackers with a "regular" tee option which is nice. Some local Muni's have created a challenge to the otherwise flat and straight design by making them play LONG. Not my thing but maybe some day. I like a course where you can get a good breakfast and coffee, go drive and putt before you tee and a decent cart service, make it a day ya know. This course has it. Other city courses really don't. I see for out of towners the rack rate is around 80.00 (nuts!) get it online for 40 something and it's a fair deal as it is still a city run course and conditions are hardly at that level of rate. Overall good stuff.

Still has 4 $$$$ but is a cheap course in price and condition. Awful fairways. Did not overseed and stopped watering Bermuda so it is literally dirt on many fairways and hard dirt at that. Greens are being kept up to fair condition. Greens break away from the mountain just keep that in mind even when your sure they don't your wrong. U of A uses it for their team but are moving next year. I'll post photos but its just brown. Shame with such a nice course layout and incredible views but the course is very poor to play on.

This is a city course and is not my favorite but the price is alright. The course plays long some fairways are hard to reach without at least a 200 yard drive And that's just to reach them. Others are not so bad but they have some LONG par 3's for an average golfer. This course plays pretty simple if your a big hitter as it's straight and mild elevation. The sand is awful like all the city courses and the course looks like crap, coming from a guy who manages a landscape department for a resort so I may be over judgmental but look at the photos. I like hole 11 which surprises me every time with the 90 degree fairway to green turn. Greens are fast and in good shape. Staff is nice but not a "put it on your list" course if your in the area. Most city courses aren't. Fun with my kid was the goal though and I did get that.

Great shape! beautiful f-ways and greens. Challenging greens and layout. Love the par 4 w/ lay up to 135 and then desert to 200 before more grass, somebody can clear it not me. Elevated greens are the majority. Nice bunker sand which oddly is rare here. Great staff I love the way they welcome your party over the PA to go on deck at the included range. Can't wait to play it again. Not expensive at all for this course. 35-49.00 online. 5 tees so it's fun for all of us. I only play the black but I move them up to the regulars. It's a must if your in the area.

This is an alright Municipal course. 7 of 10. Plays long, tight space next to the Zoo and bordered by major streets and intersections part of Tucson's largest park. They currently want 74.00 a round which is unbelievable for a municipal course. Tucson city golf is having financial trouble it seems and are looking at closing 2 courses. That being said with the NUMEROUS golf options in our area I can't see why you would pay that amount for this course. Decent course HIGH price City course.

Played Dec. 2, 2012. Pretty poor condition. DRY fairways with dirt patches. Greens were 50/50 dirt and turf. Billed as a desert course which is true but as a local I must say it's the ugly overgrown kind of raw desert so not real attractive. Lots of dead and weeds take your Zyrtec. Course is challenging since overgrown desert areas have no forgiveness. Carts are horrible smoking old monsters. Had to be shown the choke to keep mine running. Overall kinda neat layout but poor upkeep and appearance. I'm a high handicapper but any course whose biggest claim is a "ball eater" just isn't enjoyable to play. My biggest advantage here is that I don't hit long. That was quite a frustration for the guy I payed with. Maybe they will overseed soon and it will be better but it's already December. Only good with a discount rate in current condition.
