Random Monday afternoon round with an on-line coupon rate we couldn't say "no" to of $30 and pleasantly surprised but the course conditions.

Tees are level and fairly lush.

Fairways are surprisingly nice and actually green, tee to green which seems to be the exception elsewhere anymore.

Traps very nice and maintained, rough not so much so.

Greens very, very nice and rolling true, little slow, but enjoyable.

Surly starter, but maybe he was having a bad day.

Avoid windy days, look for on-line deals and you will have a great day, enjoy..

Los Robles is undergoing a "minor renovation". They are in the process of removing a lot of the secondary turf areas and replanting them, additionally they are in process of reconfiguring the trap complexes on several holes. Long story short, kind of a construction zone right now.

Greens are inconsistent, some furry and badly heel marked up, others smooth and rolling well.

The fairways and rough are marginal at best.

Tees and traps (those not being reconstructed) are okay.

The highlight, a $10 super twilight walking rate. For $10, the conditions and construction can easily be overlooked and made for a nice afternoon....

The conditions at Sterling continues the downslide. But at some of the deeply discounted rates on-line it makes it more palatable. Kind of Wal-Mart golf is what I guess they are after.

Alisal is usually overlooked when we plan an visit to the Santa Barbara County area. Not a terribly impressive layout, but considering all the water issues that have faced the local courses (we drove by Rancho San Marcos and the track is 100% brown, so sad) The River Course was a pleasant surprise.

Sort of a resort-like vibe and pricing. The staff was great. The course has very much of a "muni" feel to it but worth an occasional visit. Unless we find some discounts on-line won't be back on a regular basis.

Big Island isn't a traditional coastal course on the Kohala coast it's about 35 minutes up the hill from Waikoloa, but well worth the visit. Great views, great conditions and about the cheapest fee around. Plus it is about 5-10 degrees cooler than the beach courses.

Well worth the drive up the hill.

Skip it if it is windy though.

Great track, a favorite on our vacation visits.

Something truly terrible happening to the greens though. Lots of actual dirt areas, dead and dying grass. Very unsightly and a huge disappointment that the starter wouldn't give us a heads up before heading out.

Until the issue with the greens is resolved I would pass. There are too many better options than to waste a precious vacation day playing greens like these.

The course conditions are really coming along quickly this season.

Fairways are super lush with only some minimally damaged areas (gophers, and lots of 'em).

Greens are quicker and smoother than anytime last season and will hopefully just get better throughout the summer.

Be sure to check out the range, the practice green, chipping green, etc., are all exceptional.

Pricey when comparing to courses "off the hill" but well worth it if you are in town.

Wow, best conditions around. They seem to have water while everyone else is as dry as a bone.

Greens are healing nicely from aeration and are surprisingly soft and slow for Rustic.

Fairways are quite good, sometimes nearly perfect.

Rough, tees and traps all very good as well.

They have done some minor tweaks to the layout around a few of the green complexes which really enhance the playability nicely...

Open for the summer season with new ownership. Mammoth Mountain bought Bear Mountain Resorts over the winter. No apparent changes as yet, but some newer faces around.

The greens are sketchy (early season) and overall the course is in pretty fair shape, but still a long ways off what it was mid-summer last season. Hopefully soon.
Still worthwhile though if you happen to be in town.

The course is in better shape right now than any time we have ever played it in the past.

They recently completed a "Playability renovation" to try to make Wood Ranch more "Member friendly". Some of the more punitive traps have been reworked, lots of the overgrowth alongside the fairways and surrounding the water hazards has been almost eliminated. The greens are still the real deal and you better bring your "A" game with the putter. All-in-all a big improvement and a most certainly "more friendly".

If you get the opportunity and if you can miss the windy days (the wind can really howl here) well worth the $96 guest fee.

Wow. Probably the best course conditions of any course we have played for years. What an amazing surprise. If you have been in the past but overlooked TR in your "regular rotation" or if you haven't been here before, do yourself a favor and go soon. I am sure the summer heat will have an adverse effect on the conditions but it is nearly pristine right now. Enjoy!

In town, some time and walked on, great staff, somewhat compact and goofy layout. But conditions were better than was expected. If you are local or in town with some time and get the on-line deals great, but not worth a special trip.
