4-18-08.....
haven't played here in a while and now I know why. got a tee time no problem 4:30pm Fri. there were no mention of the greens being aerated and punched. OK, will still play were here, got a cart as my knee was bad, and was told just to leave the keys in the cart,OK.. then at the turn on 9... I was told we had to turn in the cart before 7pm. it was 6:45pm and I was never told about this! "sorry they said", not cool. now as for the course, its a typical muni play was really SLOW. then the greens as expected were horrible. the tee boxes were uneven and divots galor. and the fairways were no better. for a course that uses re-cycled water you think that they would be in better shape. anything off the fairway is in beat-up weeds and dirt with potholes everywhere. the sand was hard and thin on at least 1/2 of them. I didn't sample it, but saw the shots that came out of there. while the starters were just under great, they could have told me about the greens. as I know I should ask too this time of yr. overall the course for the area is sad and not well kept. I have played 5 others in the area in the last 2wks and they were all way better. I'm a 6hdcp so I know how a course should look and this is not my 1st post.. if you want a so-so round with a OK price, play here. I wish them well as with some care on there part they could be allot better. when I told them that I was going to post a rating for this course on line, they said so, we don't think anyone reads these things anyway, so who cares..... that was sad....
maybe next yr guys....

I haven't played this course for about a yr now and I have forgotten just how awsome it is... wow. I definitely have to try and get down this way more as this is still for the money in my opinion the best course on the Monterrey bay. with pebble beach and spyglass just around the corner and there fees are 10 times what this course is, that makes this place heaven. if your in the Monterrey bay area you have to play this course, I guarantee you won't be disappointed..... and another bonus is the Monterrey bay aquarium is just around corner and you can drop off the wife and kids for 4hrs while you play...lol

this course in is the middle of leveling its tee boxes and adding some length to the holes and should be done in month or less. the greens are still bumpy and slow and the sand traps are hard too and thin. the overall layout is nice, and getting a tee time on a fri was easy. now I know why..lol but the twilight rate is good, and the pace of play was great, under 4hrs. plus they had a great taco appetizer in the bar. the pro shop is well stocked, and overall course condition is good other than that. the practice putting area is a little to small and theres no warm up or driving range.
once all the tee boxes are done, it should be nice and lets hope the sand and greens get the attention they need. I gave it about a 3.5 of 10 but it deserves better once all the construction work gets done.

PS: if the wind is blowing it will challenge your game.
also the carts need to have sand/seed mix on them, and the tee boxes too, this would help the course too...

so I played there last tue/thur and both days the fairways were being seeded so it was cart path only. this course is big so running accross to your ball can be a trek... I played the cart path side both rounds and rarely walked more than 20yds. other than that we started at 4:20 and got in 14 holes one day and 16 on the other before darkness. for 24.00 w/cart this is the best value going in the south bay. 16.00 to walk, but at supertwilight I take a cart for the money to play faster... the course is getting ready for winter and the greens are alot better from the aireateing from 3wks ago. and should be awsome in the weeks to come. you can still get in an easy 9 for after 5pm so get out and play while the weather is still great.. winter is comming.

ps.
normally I give this place 4**** but with having to walk for some so far, I gave it only *** this time, but its normally a 4star
for the value...

this course had not been rated when I played it Aug 24... it was a weekend and we got right on with no problem... now I know why, I was not imformed that 4 of the greens were totally being
redone and had temp greens.... the course for the money once it gets done, is gonna be awsome. the fairways are all lined with huge eucalyptus trees and has some water shots too.. overall its a great little lay out not hard but fun.. for the area at the end of a local small airport its good, but the planes flying over will cause you to pause and wait sometimes. I would love to come back and play it again once its finished. they keep the course up ok for a muni course. some areas were watered too much and some not quite enough, but they are redoning alot of stuff there.
once done I think you will find this course fun and priced well..
sorry for the late post, I forgot it.

my 2 stars for price once the greens are in would be go to 4
and the customer service will be better once all the const
is done and finished...

- played 9/27 for a tourny there and the course still showed sign's of the sand a bit on the greens from 2 weeks ago. they wouldn't break and putted med speed. the fairways and overall was in great condition. I played here last yr and this yr was better in some ways, however I still wonder how they get so much for this course as there are others in the area that are way better and cost less to play. but it is part private so that may explain it. the clubhouse has a great pro shop, bar, and the dinner there was very good and well done. so for tourny's it has the whole package going with everything. there is more than enough people around to help you and always greete you with a smile and a hello how are you today... from talking to others there the valley course is the one to play, as it has some better holes I guess. the driving range is all grass and well marked, the putting greens are good too, although there quite a ways from the clubhouse and a cart is better to get to and from. overall the course has some great signature holes with ponds and a great risk/rewards for some. so all in all it's a course that is fun to play and has some great holes, but the ones along the freeway are noisey and you get the occasional trucker or car honking there horns which is kind of sad... other than the price is a bit steep as this would be a great place for just alittle less green fees.

played the twilight special which is a great deal.. the course over all is in really good condition seeing as we have had a few weeks off high temp. one thing that was annoying was the greens seemed a little too thick and soft and were bumpy. had my 1st three putts hopping all over the place, but other than that I hadn't played here in awhile and had forgotten what a nice layout it is.. we played the gold tees, and let me tell you they will add some yardage to your round..lol the staff there is really great and they now have the segway people movers. it has a bag cradle and looked really cool. I want to say its 25.00 a round for one. the range there is really good and the practice area has sand area with a huge chipping area and allows shag bags too. the pace of play was not bad, and well worth the money. be sure to call ahead as they have tourneys and high school teams that play there so the twilight at times is hard to get into.. other than that it was great.

I have been wanting to play this course for some time now.. and I took the day off as it was my birthday and played it.. I was not dissapointed in any way. the price was great and the course was in great condition even though we had temps in the high 90s all week long. one tip for playing here. GET A CART.. I was going to walk and the staff said you might want to ride, as theres a long area you have to go across to twice in the round.
they were right, its a loooong walk across the creek to the other holes and a person can't keep up against a person in a cart.
while this is a par 68, it has 5 par 5's and 9 par 3's which allows you to make up strokes easily. I loved this couse as it allow's and reward's for long shots as well as the par 3 which were very interesting too and will give up birdies also... it is well worth the money and will be one of my favorites.. Los Lagos, meaning the lakes, and it has the lakes but is fair and isn't that bad... it also has a driving range too as well as some of the best prices on shoes I have ever seen.. so if your in the area check this course out, I think you to will love it and not be dissapointed.

what a deal is all I can say.... we played sunday 25th at 3pm and the rate with a cart was 25.00 and its normally 35.00 with a cart for 18 while there under construction.. only 3 greens were temp greens and not bad, but the all the other greens were great.. shots stopped well and puts were med/med slow. I loved the layout as it has huge trees on the edges of the fairways and line most of the holes... for the money right now, I'd play this course again in a new york minute...
the only draw back I could come up with is its at the end of the runway and small aircraft taking off and truning can cause you to pause and wait a moment.. once its done it will be a nice place to play and seemed easy enough to get on... I would rate it a 6.5 out of 10......

I drove to sf from santa cruz about 2hr north and played a new course called lincon park, which is owned by the city and while it can be slow at times I'm told. its views and surroundings are awsome.. it is located past sunset near the leigon of honor on top of the hills. the price for 18 is only 36.00 on weekends and 26 for locals. it is hilly and will give you a work out walking. there are some long par 3's like 240,239,203yds and some really narrow fairways too. if you don't know the course you wil find some holes with blind shots on the par 4's which I found unfair as there are very few markers to show 100-150yds... the greens are bumpy and thin which can make them fast at times. it is a a par 68 and lacks a couple of par 5's, but for something new its was fun. so if your in the SF bay area and want to get in a quick round and try something new that has [great scenery] and is easy to get on weekends without calling ahead this is a good one.....it is a city course and can be slow too, I'm told..

mariners pt in foster city just south of sf was the spot......
it was Fri , a friend said hey let go play some night golf...
it had been some time since doing so...
so we went out and got there...OMG
2 level driving range, mats and grass and well lit
and all kinds of things to hit to, like nets, greens, ect...
then 2 putting greens one with lots of slopes....
WHATS THAT....
an entire area for pitching, putting, sand, chips.....
it was huge...like a 100yds+ sq out there...
it was like Disneyland for golfers.....lol
you do have to pay a little extra for the area...
so we played starting around 6pm and got in 9 quickly.....
my wife said she's was running late......another 9 was the call......lol
the weather was awsome, tee shirts clear skies and
not a bit of wind.....and the course for a 9 hole par 3 is fun....
and will challenge your short game and the greens are great too..
the sand traps are surpurb with great sand and placements.
a Sunday bag with a 7.8.9.pw.s.L,putter is all that is needed..
168 is the longest hole and the 9th hole is surrounded by water
which is like there signature hole.....it was great..
the course sits along the bay and the views are great too..
the price was like 16.00 and 12.00 for replays....
I can't believe how much stuff was in the pro shop...best ever so far
and the prices were great too..
I can't believe that san jose doesn't have something like this
with all the money in the south bay.....
I drove from santa cruz which was hour 1/2 and I tell you
I will be coming back to this little jem on the bay...
ps...
they have a great food too and a sm bar there so you can
treat yourself to some rewards later.....lol
