Played 9/17/11. Walked up as a single at 0930 am and started at 1000 am just behind the 20th foursome of the mens club tournament. So it was a slooooowww round. On the plus side, course was in very good condition, greens REALLY green as if they had been spray painted. Lots of GUR and red hazard paint everywhere too. The wind kicked up as the sun came out which always makes this course more challenging. I wasn't in one bunker all day - yippee - but playing partners indicated that the sand was good but frequently unraked!! Several areas of water/marsh have dried out over the last year which is a shame. Even the main lake was a bit scummy and stinky. Fix this and build the clubhouse and this course is a 10! Well, certainly a 9. Its a walkers heaven any way you rate it.

Played 9/15/11 - Got an e-mail special that morning - $29 after 1200pm inc. cart. Great deal. Weather had cooled off a little - just as well as there're not a lot of water stations on the course and no cart girl in around. Mostly the course was in good shape. The lakes had been drained down. Maybe they have been using the water for irrigation. There are a lot of areas of rough where the sprinkling has been shut off and the grass/weeds allowed to brown out so the course overall does not look as pristine. But then, it has been scorching hot recently and the fairways and greens are all OK. I noticed this round, that there were hardly any yardages on sprinkler heads. There are few distance markers of any type - I found I was using my iphone GPS much more than usual. If you want to speed up the pace of play, and which courses don't, surely this is one easy inexpensive way to do it? Or do course owners/managers figure everyone has a GPS device these days?

Played on Patriot Day - GCGC is a sponsoring club although there was no obvious promotion that I could see. Golf course was in great condition as ever. The day before, it had hosted an Inland Empire amateur event. There was no posted 'pin position' board. When asked, the marshall said they had left the pin placements as they were for the championship event. I expected every flag to be in 'impossible' places but they were not too bad. Mostly they were moved way back although on the holes where they have a 'championship tee', they were quite accessible. Needless to say, we did not use those back tees although my playing partners could have - they hit it a mile. On 18, one of them drove it over 300 yards - and he was wearing flip-flops - I kid you not! Surprisingly for a holiday, pace of play was outstanding - under 4 hours.

Played 8/31//11. Very well organized, laid out and managed. Didn't try the practice facilities - had some time constraints - but could see them from the course and they looked excellent. Not too tough a challenge from the blues, so first time out, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some serious money went into building this course. It winds among the houses and condos but they never seem imposing. The water features are prominent and attractive. I saw golfers posing for photos with the waterfalls in the background. Overall, a first class golfing experience. Earlier, someone mentioned the bunker sand was too wet and firm and I would agree with this assessment - in fact, several areas were sodden and muddy from over watering. But then, it can get hot here so a lot of irrigation is required - and the water is recycled! Also agree with the comment on customer service - top quality from everyone from snack bar to pro-shop to starters and marshalls.
I'm thinking this is a GK tournament location for the future.

Played 8/25. 110pm tee-time on Wednesday - price was $76.00 - a bit steep IMHO.
The money must pay for the marshalls - they were everywhere!!
The facilities in general are excellent. The restaurant/bar serves good food quickly and you can sit on the terrace overlooking the first tee. Buy a soft drink before you start, get a free refill to top up and get another refill for $1.00 at the turn. A few too many bald spots on the fairways and a plethora of ball marks on the greens, so I give a 7 rather than 8. Pace of play was good and the temperature 20' cooler than my home town!

Played 8/19. I play here regularly and the course was in its usual fine condition. One thing I did differently this time was to avail myself of all the practice facilities - not just the putting green. The chipping area is excellent - two of them, actually. One 'traditional' with several pin placements, large surrounding 'short-rough' areas and sizeable sand traps to play from. The other, a 30 yard long alley with a barrel at the far end to aim for. This is an all-round excellent golf facility but a proper clubhouse would be nice!

Played 8/10/11 - $33.00 and web special included free hot-dog lunch or sleeve of balls.
Had never played here before despite being Corona resident for 14 years and course opening several years back! No practice range is a major deficiency in my mind. Layout is hard to fathom. 6500 yards off the blues is about what I can handle at a 15 handicap and with six par 3's, those were the tees I played. But one of the par 3's was playing 240 yards into the wind (I hit driver!), #13, par 4, 470 yards into the wind, #14, par 5, 615 yards downwind but uphill! What do they think this is - the Nationwide Tour?
So, not the easiest of courses for me but had fun anyway - no-one ever in front of us and finished in under 4 hours. Course was a bit wet in places but generally in good shape. Greens had lots of untreated ball-marks (can't blame the management for that but since they do a good job of signage elsewhere re: pace of play, directions etc., perhaps they should remind players more to fix their divots). The sand was good in the bunkers I visited which I always think is a good indication of the care that goes into maintenance. I liked the industrial archeology - old railroad trestle, quarry remains etc. Would play again at a similar daily rate/deal.

Played on 8/3 with e-mail special - $44 inc cart, range balls, lunch and sleeve of Srixon soft feel balls! I guess they do this when the weather gets really hot - and it WAS over 100'F
Course in great condition - no sign of issues with greens like there used to be. No cart girl but carts came with iced coolers and plenty of water on the course. Wind started to blow later on which was more appreciated for the coolness factor than cursed for the difficulty factor. I was in way too many bunkers this day but they all had plenty of deep, dry sand. Sent out to play back nine first and finished in just a shade over 4 hours. This is a fun, enjoyable course currently in fine shape.

Played 7/27 in GK tournament. Just an all-round great day out. Johnny GK's organization was spot-on and Moorpark CC provided the perfect venue. You get the full country-club experience at Moorpark - the golf shop, the practice facilities, the clubhouse, the bar and grill - all top notch. And the golf course is pristine. Can't wait to do it again.

Played Sat 7/23. Driving range is excellent and snack bar offers good food and a range of beers. Course was in fine shape - no issues with anything so paying full rack rate was acceptable. Players card discounts look like a dynamite deal if you can play here regularly.

Played 7/24/11 - course in great condition as always.
Fairways were great, bunkers all had plenty of good sand, greens seemed a little slow.

Walked on as a single at 145pm - straight out to join a twosome - that part was awesome.
Now, I'm a huge fan of Goose Creek but, based on their normal high standards, two things bothered me today. One, there was no groundskeeping ongoing and the tee-boxes and the fairways were - lets say furry, rather than the usual pristine. Two, the sand in a lot of the traps is getting thin. I was in 3 bunkers today and all could have used more sand. The top veneer of soft sand was no more than 1/2 inch with hardpan below. Also saw a lot more weeds growing in them and the edges were very raggedy. Still better than a lot of courses but below GC's usual excellence. IMHO, of course.
