Played Tuesday morning. A little late teeing off not a big deal. CPO as expected. Played in 4.5 and waited a bit. Greens were great. Fairways a little long in spots but not bad. Lots of sod planted in the fairways but did not affect play. Greens were great.

#2 had some mud and water damage. But did not affect play. Great day.

Played San Juan Sunday morning after the Christmas night rains. CPO and a few spots where the water collected in the fairways. Greens were soft and a tad slower than usual but rolled well with few bumps. Course in much better shape than Arroyo Trabuco.

Service has improved here at least in the pro shop. No bev cart that we saw. Nice remodeled practice facility. Bar area is very good. Lotsa TV's and food and service was very good. Gonna go back on Friday.

Played at 8:15 this morning. Weather was perfect. Greens wre slow but realatively smooth. All bunkers were played as ground under repair. Very disappointed in staff that they charged full price. #14 and #15 had the most damage in the fairways. They should make #15 a par 3 and save some damage to the course. 2 big slides blocked the cart path and the runoff went into the fairways. Some other standing water around but for those two holes and the bunkers not bad.

Played at 1130 on a Sunday morning for the GK matchplay event. Bag staff was great as was the pro at the counter. Greens rolled true and had very few ball marks. Played in exactly 4 hours. Groups in front of us really played efficiently. Fairways were dormant and there was rough. Beverage cart came by twice.

Beers and nachos after the round in a very nice restaurant. Avery good overall experience.

Only negative was the $11 for range balls.

Thanks to dconnally for setting up the round and to my playing competitor Brad Cooper for a great round.

Played the Palms course Sunday. Pretty short course with some mild elevation changes. Greens rolled well. Watch the breaks and grain. Look for the Strip. Your putt will be faster towards the Strip and slower towards the mountains. Long walks from green to tees here. Service was very good. Bar was nice.

Played in a tournament Saturday. Course is mostly resort style with wide fairways and homes throughout. Walkable course except for the long distances between Greens and Tees. Course was in very good shape and the customer service was excellent.

Last time I played SJH I left a pretty bad review due to their poor customer service and course conditions. That was about a year ago I think.

I played Sunday. Pro shop staff was great and very personable. Starter was engaging. We did tee off about 10 minutes late at 9am on a Sunday. No worries. Bev cart girl said it was her first day but we saw here plenty of times and she did a great job.

Greens here were fantastic. Except #17 which had issues but easily overlooked with how well the other greens rolled. Overall a good experience and I look forward to going back soon.

Played Sunday 10-31 at 0730. Great email rate of $44. Pace was little slow at 4:45. Greens were very hard and did not hold well. They were pretty smooth and rolled well. Fairways were over wet in some spots and dry in others. I like the course and thought overall it was in good shape.

Played Thursday afternoon as part of their skins game. I thought the course was in very good shape. Greens rolled very well. Some ball marks but far fewer than I am used to. I thought they were an 8+. Fairways are always thin here. That is part of the links allure. You will get some thin lies. You will need to adjust your game to the course. The course will not adjust to you. (Wow that was profound.)

I was told by staff that it was purchased by the owners of Redhawk. Staff is great and some good deals in the pro shop can be had. Prime Rib on Thursday is very good.

Played Monday as part of the Nature Valley Amateur. Very nice course in very good shape. Greens rolled very well. Best putting day I have had in months. Lots of wasted areas and desert comes into play. Some forced carries off the tee. Downhill Par 3 #2...stay right. Left is lateral and unplayable. Very nice golf course would love a second chance at this. Plays like a resort course on steroids.

Took a group out to Eagle Glen. Even though they had a special for $50 after 9am the GM gave us the deal at 7:22. Nice touch. Doubt he can do it all the time. Course was not very crowded in the morning. Group ahead of us had holes open in front of them but we still played in 4:20. No fivesomes today. That's a big help. Course was a lot busier when we left.

Greens were firm and not as fast as you think. I thought they rolled very well. I did not take advantage of that. Bunkers were in good shape. The traps on #11 were in the process of being maintenanced.

It was a very good experience. My last round here was not as we were behind a very slow fivesome. One of my favorite tracks. Starter Jim was great. And Jan who took my reservation was very nice. Hope to get back there soon.

Played the North course at 230 this afternoon. Service always great. Greens were smooth and medium speed. Slow into the grain away from the ocean. A little speedier with the grain towards the ocean. A tad slow at 4:45 but I really didn't mind as the views are great. We could hear the bell that rings on the buouy at the entrance to Newport harbor. We also heard the sea lions barking. Very good day ended with a beer watching the sunset from the clubhouse bar.
