Haven't played out there in years. I've been in the area for many years now and we just kind of skipped this track....not sure why? Very cool elevation changes and much much more interesting than its fellow Jurupa neighbor Jurupa Hills. Old school 60s track , very shaggy. Rough was tough Kakuya and greens were bumpy ass poa annua. Putts were REALLY slow and bunkers were an absolute joke....hard pan. Fairways not bad. We paid $19 on a wknd......gotta like that.

Played a week or so ago. Always in great shape. Always verdant, putting surfaces in great shape, bunkers well conditioned with soft sand with a firm layer about 3in. down, great customer service. Very few people on the course---I teed off at 7:30---done at 11. If you havent played it and are a fan of really really nice course conditions--go check it out. Design is typical palm springs but conditions are above and beyond.

Fairmount is BACK baby! Ive played here since college but less and less over the years as disposable income increased and patience with subpar conditions decreased. A call to a buddy and we were off--- played a quick walking 9 yesterday in a touch over 2 hrs.
Was very pleasantly surprised at the re-do. The course was shutdown a little over a year ago to reconstruct their irrigation---which prior to that was hoses and whatnot leftover from the original 1920's? design! Needless to say the results are great. The greens here rolled great (for Fairmount)--allowing me to drain 15 and 20' birdies. Fairways were green and tight. Off the green was the usual Fairmount dry brush/savannah look. All in all a great little test, classic track---especially for the $8 or $9 it took to walk. Dont let the length fool you---several holes are all you want. #2 a par 3 @ 200+ yds, #6 and insanely tight driving hole, #9 --what really plays as a 450+ yd par 4. If you need a warmup or a quick post/pre work rd. head over---the city is running it now and its back.

Somehow this course has my email and sends me specials. Last wknd. with not a lot avail or appealing, I booked a quick rd. knowing I would probably just play nine. Good call Z. This place still is just a bit rough for my $crilla. The first green had dead and diseased areas that stretched 2/3 across it amounted to 1/8 the putting surface. Just terrible. Fairways very patchy, and as usually the bunkers were hard dirt. They've been that way for going on 5 years or more. Its just not a fun course IMO.

The Inland Empire of Southern California is rich with a multitude of top tier tracks. It's really nirvana for golf here. If you add in prices, availability, interesting tracks and weather....there is just not too many places in the country better for golf. That being said, if you have a chance to play one of these great tracks, skip this farm. If you're a fan of dead grass, uninteresting design and the smell of human feces(sewage treatment facility across the street).....this place is all you. I will give a shout out to the pro shop staff who were very hard working during a very busy tournament on the sister Chino Creek course and were only just a bit off getting us a cart. And of course, it wasn't their fault when said cart died on #12 where they had to bring us a new one. They were out there just 5 min after calling the pro shop to alert them....that's a record in my book.
Great customer service, poop for a course!
Unless its free....stay home.

Went out on the $85 Internet special. Really really cool track, especially the first nine. Rolling thru mature Oaks, just visually stunning. Greens were really some of the best bent grass in all of Southern California..just pure pure. Great design. My only issues was with the firmness of the sand....a bit too firm for the quality of the track. Looks like they are going to reseed and punch in about a week. Get on it!

Older track with some great Mtn views. The recent heavy rains and flash flooding really brought some water and mud down the gullies but it was still in good shape. As a previous review offered....a very shaggy course. Surely this is to try to keep it alive in the heat. The greens were bad in my opinion. If you want to see some well kept summer Bermuda.....go elsewhere. Desert Dunes perhaps? There were super slow....maybe an 8 on the stimp? Some interesting holes for sure, some nice mounding with both right to left holes and vice versa. It has a couple really nice looking par 3's. I wasn't impressed with the greens and for that reason I will not be returning unless its during the winter months.
I played on a late day $10 deal which I used a golfnow voucher for ...so I didn't pay anything for the round. If you're looking for a very inexpensive round....head out and check it out. If you want to spend $15-20 more you can get a course that's 2 or 3 times better or more.

Good lawd! What a course. I haven't played much golf in this area, but if this course is any indication what the folks up here have to work with, well then, they are indeed lucky.
On first tee , the course was shrouded in mist..very cool. Nice wide opening par5.... Love that. Turf was nice in fairways with some rough spots, clean poa greens in very nice shape--running around 10. Areas around the greens were spotty sometimes, thick wet rough made wrist hinging chip shots a must have. A great design...front 9 had some straightforward holes and some super nice dog legs with contours and Oaks, revealing beautiful greens on approach. Wonderful topography here. Back 9 was brutal to this first time visitor. I played blue @ 6700 yes or so.....front was no prob, back was another animal...I hear they call the course the Piraña.....well it ate my A$$. Tip -- on 14 you can take it over the trees with a fade and be fine. Back 9 for me was even better in terms of enjoying the course design. Great stuff back there. GpS system was nice although, I couldn't figure out how to adjust for different yardages.....as in, what will my approach yardage be if I hit to a specific area. It was however very helpful in determining what to hit on most holes. In its heyday this course must have been amazing. As another poster has mentioned, it just doesn't get enough play (income) to keep it in top notch resort style shape....but do not for a second believe that this detracts from the experience. WELL WORTH the trip. I plan on bringing people out here as part of a central coast golf trip in the future. Hopefully the course continues to maintain what it has and not wither away like so many others have.

Went off 1 @7:00 got around in just a tad less than 4 hrs. Super condition and design. Very interesting holes and in really nice shape. What a cool feel in the cypress and pine trees. Very inexpensive at just $60 via Golfnow. If in Monterey and you want to play a great course and save a few $$ since you might be blowing some at the Pebble properties.....give this one a go. I'll be back!

Tucked away in the hills above Oceanside lies a gem. Maybe you've never played it? You ought to. My first time out...I found the following. Great range, chipping area and practice putting area. Beautiful closely mown fairways.....some of the best fairways since I played Avaira last month. Bunkers in fantastic shape. A beautifully designed, well thought out golf course. Each hole was fairly unique and interesting. Great views of the surrounding flower farms and hills. Large bentgrass greens that were a b$tch to putt only because I was off. Being bent and teeing off at 3pm, we dealt with the usual indentations and spike marks...overall though they putted very very well. Generous landing areas for your tee shots and a lot of both uphill and downhill shots to the greens. Some nice lakes on 16 and 18. We played it on a deal for $35 and worth every penny. I really can't wait to go back and hit it again. If you are in the IE, OC or SD....head over and you will enjoy the experience. If you are in LA and tired of the usual, drive out.

Haven't been to "Los Doggos" in awhile but some friends were playing so off I went. I will say it a very green farm....nice turf in fairways, nice med soft sand-- well groomed, tee boxes in nice shape. My complaint was the conditions of the greens. Many were well pockmarked, some had dead, brown and sandy areas on them.....very poor shape. Not sure if its the bent grass in them or general inattentiveness? Also VERY VERY slow....add this to the condition, it was difficult to make putts. Front nine was in worse condition than the back. If they got the greens in order , Id really recommend the track. Never been a fan of the weird layout on the front, but a good challenge ought not be skipped based solely on that. It's a golf course.....play it.

Initially partner and I did not feel welcome from Pro Shop attendants, I'm not sure what was up with that? Perhaps these folks aren't to happy that the general public now graces their formerly private club? Oh we'll, get over it? They did offer a yardage book?....so some redeeming points there. Onto the golf, first hole...looks great from tee box, tee boxes very nice throughout the course. First green was in very poor shape, the worst of the day. Fungal spots? Tons of ball marks and indentatations.....very bumpy and SLOW. Very slow greens all day.....I prefer a 11 vs. a 9 stimp. The rest of the greens, save for a couple, were in nice shape I will say, bit slow. Thick rough that really held up your ball.......stay out of it. Bunkers well raked and in very nice condition. Tough layout in grade 8 condition. We played blue tees as usual....at 6500 yds. A lot of the holes played into the wind and played that much more difficult. I suggest a full reading/viewing of the pictures and comments on this course... found here on GK. Decent deal from Under Par at $50. Go check it out if you're in the mood for a new track.
