Played 7/30 with a 7:36 tee time getting paired with another single and a twosome.

The course was in overall decent shape. Fairways and rough had solid kikuyu coverage with some areas around the greens being very... Kikuyu-y (Anyone playing from this grass knows what I'm talking about). Tee boxes were hit an miss, most being solid and some being unlevel with some divot damage. This was usually for the smaller tee boxes that had been shoehorned in. Bunkers were playable though several had standing water. Greens were okay. Many were good but several had burned out patches that had recently been re-turfed (Or not re-turfed at all). Hole 12 had the worst damage but I also remember it the most as I had to putt through it. I'll probably give the course another go at some point as it's in good enough shape if you find a deal. Not worth their rack rates. (I paid $35 with cart through group golfer, definitely worth that.)

Played Saturday 7/23 at 10:08 for my buddy's birthday. I'll just get this out of the way right now, the conditions aren't good and I would look elsewhere for the time being.

Good stuff: Tee boxes and fairways are in typical canyon/arroyo course shape. The bermuda is dry and a bit thin but very consistent. I rarely saw burned out patches in the fairways. A couple tee boxes were a bit un-level and there was some divot damage on the par 3s. A couple more needed a mow, but I'd say that they were pretty good overall.

Not good stuff: Rough was a little bit of everything. Plenty of sparse bermuda that was slightly longer than fairway height. Wouldn't stop the ball at all, but at least it was grass. There was thick, lush grass around sprinklers (mostly Poa and a little bit of rye) that would swallow your ball and played completely different than anything else on the course. Finally, there were wide swaths that were mostly dirt with some sprigs of grass still holding on. Lots of new turf had been recently laid early on the front nine on some of these spots and those played as GUR.

Worrisome stuff: Greens were burning out along the edges and many were showing brown spots on the main portion of the putting surface along with lots of unfixed ball marks. Most burned out patches were small (golf ball size) but I had to putt through a couple that were shoebox sized. Holes 1 and 18 come to mind as the worst shape right now, but there were others. Not good when the greens are burning out to this extent. It seemed like the grounds crew had put some water on them that morning so hopefully that will help. It's going to take some work to get them back however.

Awful stuff: Bunkers are atrocious. Some of the worst sand I've played all year. You could be in 1/4 inch of dried powder over hardpan or in 3 inches of wet concrete. Really bad.

As usual, the staff was very good and accommodating. There were no groups in front of our foursome for 30 minutes (or so said the starter), but we caught them by hole 5 and the course bogged down a bit. Overall POP was a little over 4.5 hours despite being almost 30 minutes under pace through 6 holes. I doubt I'll be back considering the drive and typical south OC overpricing, especially with current conditions. Keep an eye out for more reviews and hopefully they get it back in passable shape.

Not much has changed since previous reviews. Got out Saturday afternoon (7/9 @ 2:50) and the course was lovely as always. Fairways and greens looked and played great. Rough had some patches but for the most part (90%) it was very good. Some divot damage on the shorter par 3s but that's to be expected. POP was right around 4.5 hours and the price ($60) was a steal. Love this place and would not hesitate to come back.

Played Sunday 7/10 at 10:08 with roarksown1 and bwaldera on a beautiful, but a bit toasty, day.
I was pleasantly surprised by the conditions all around. There's always "an expectation" when playing a muni but Harding beat them all. Fairways were in solid shape, a little patchy in spots but overall very good coverage. Rough was, for the most part, frightening. Thick, deep, lush kikuyu that would eat your shoes. hacking out with a wedge was often the best option. Tee boxes were flat and most were rock hard. Greens were in good shape. Limited divot damage but a bit inconsistent on the roll (late in the day Poa, not a shock). Really impressed for my first time here and great weekend value walking with a POP of a little under 4.5 hours.

Played at 6:08 on 7/3 with kviser and rgm2525
Conditions are a hodgepodge and typical muni-level for the most part. Tee boxes were mostly unlevel, none extreme though, and most had plenty of divot damage. Fairways were 50/50 between great, closely mowed kikuyu and brown patchiness. Very hit and miss on what you would get. Rough was much the same with really solid, lush kikuyu and thin patches right next to those. Can't comment on how the bunkers played but most looked solid enough. Greens were probably the best part of the course right now, running medium to medium fast but with some inconsistency. When putts lost speed they definitely started to bobble a bit. POP was a nice 3:20 this morning and we weren't pushed nor did we catch those in front of us.

36 holes with rgm2525, RDDenn, and our gracious host, noeldaof on 6/5.
A bit of a hike to get here, but a really fun and maddening track awaited. Winds were a blowin' for both of our rounds at 15-20mph pretty consistently. Greens were very good with very subtle breaks and local knowledge is extremely helpful (breaks go to Palmdale and AWAY from the San Gabriels no matter how much it looks otherwise). I thought the fairways were pretty solid with a few dry patches. Rough was basically nonexistent off the fairways, but showed up around the greens. Bunkers were solid. I very much enjoyed the layout (Joshua trees in the fairways were a big plus) and look forward to a return trip. I need to get my revenge...

Played 5/26 at 12:40pm on a golfnow deal for $61.

Very rarely am I completely blown away by a course. Turtle Bay was the first. This was the second time. What a facility... pristine conditions, fantastic layout, amazing deal to get on. Nothing was bad about this round. This is a must-play golf course and would recommend it to anyone. Greens were quick and fantastic to putt. Fairways and rough were excellent throughout. Tee boxes were pristine. Even the bunkers were amazing. Maybe the only complaint I could come up with would be the POP, but I got to enjoy the course more so even that wasn't a negative. Can't wait to come back.

Played 5/26 early in the am for $28 on golfnow.
Overall, a very flat layout, but plenty of variety. As previous reviewers have stated, shorter holes were mixed with some real buttkickers with not a whole lot in between.
Conditions were consistently pretty good with just some hairyness around the borders. Greens were confusing, undulating, but rolled well even though I never had the speed of them at any point during the day. Most had quite a few ballmarks however.
Tee boxes and fairways were both solid overall with divot damage here and there. Rough was inconsistent with a few problem areas. Bunkers were a bit on the thin side. POP was solid that early in the morning and I finished in just under 4 hours.

A solid option if you're in the area and very much worth the rate I paid.

I'll echo Ron's thoughts on the course. It was in very good to great shape all around. Apart from the tops of a few mounds that were on the dry side, everything was very green providing excellent lies everywhere. Nick will probably have some comments on the bunkers being quite wet (He became an expert on them quickly) but the sand was better than just about anything I play normally. Tees were level and fantastic, fairways green, lush, and consistent, rough consistent. Water comes into play on several holes and most of these were the best on the course, I felt (1 and 10 come to mind immediately). Everything was just very good all around and a very nice way to spend a few hours before a GK event in La Quinta.

Played 4/21, teeing off a little after 10:00. The course is on the tail end of coming out or aeration with small tine holes still visible but not hurting the roll of putts. Another week and they should look fully healed. As always Costa Mesa is a hodgepodge of conditions. Tees were mostly good with a couple showing unlevel lies and a couple a bit hairy. Heavy divot damage on several, but for the most part they are HUGE so if they did a better job moving around markers this really wouldn't be a problem. Fairways are very hit an miss. #4 has a gigantic GUR area and #14 is entirely GUR. I think a couple others had large patches of thin grass/dirt so they really need to keep giving those areas some love. In comparison, #1 and #7 had really good coverage so it really depended on the hole. Rough was patchy. Some really nice spots, and some where the dominant lie was weedy clover. Pretty much as expected all in all. Apart from the aformentioned aeration holes, green were pretty good but lots of unfixed ballmarks. The greens are the first, second, and third defense of this short course so they are quite hilarious in both their shape and undulation.
$26 to walk is a good deal for a fun course even if the conditions of the fairways could and should be better. POP was right around 4.5 and the cart girl was riding around and got to us 3 or 4 times.

Played 4/17 with some buddies in some VERY difficult conditions. The Santa Anas were a-blowing and we had consistent 20-25mph winds all day.
As expected, Goose was in fine shape. I don't have much to add to sixpez's review from 3 days earlier. Fairways and rough were in really good condition with great coverage throughout. Bunkers continue to be thin around the greens but have a bit more sand in the fairway traps. With the wind during this round, by guess is a bit more sand left the premises. Greens were better than Keith's description though but his comments regarding their firmness were spot on. What little moisture they had was stripped away by the wind so getting balls to react on chip shots was very difficult. They were running a bt slower than expected which was good for out round. Any quicker and balls at rest would not be at rest very long. POP was a little less than 4.5 hours teeing off at 11:20 and with the windy conditions, that felt about right. Recommended as always.

Played yesterday with mpisarski01 teeing off a little after 10:00 on a warm and blustery day.
Tee boxes and fairways were in fair shape. A couple boxes were unlevel and there were plenty of Poa splotches in the primarily bermuda fairways. Bunkers, as bad and hard packed as they appeared were still better than the last time I was here. Rough was hit and miss with plenty of lush rye and a more than a few bare/thin patches as well. Greens were all over the place. Very inconsistent and bumpy despite being nearly recovered from aeration. Each green seemed different from hole to hole with some being firm and cut while others were softer and showed longer grass. Footprints were holding way too well on most greens in the crustier grass. Annoying to say the least.
POP was somewhere around 5 hours 20 minutes I believe and we waited on every shot which made for a long day. Cart girl was roaming around and we saw her several times.
