Saturday 7/9 joined by Vince his 5th time ever playing golf. The white tees at 5400yds.
Steady progress to report; bringing the courses luster back.
Greens really nice putting fair a bit on the slower side. Consistent very few marks.
The bunkers are all fully done with the re-sand project. A hint of gray color and a bit wet to help settle it. Raked they are nice to play from.
A nice low pressure easy to play course in which errant shots are recoverable most times.
Great vibe here reasonable beer prices. No beverage cart easy bar service at the turn.

Played on Fathers Day this month.
Great weather early time. And as expected course conditions continue to improve. The quality of grass in the fairways and through the green is noticeably improved. Many of the bunkers have added sand making them much better. The greens are smooth and rolling medium speed.
Tee boxes are being leveled on some holes.
Fun fast POP round and home early to watch US Open.

Here we go Celtics here we go... OoPs wrong sport but it's GREEN at Coyote Moon.

It's the first of 5 reviews for the year for those who want to : "Know before you go"
Read my review from 6/6 last year before writing this. The conditions this year to that round a notch higher overall. We have the 10 play offer again saving +50% on the rack rate. It's a great public play course in the Sierra. Went out early and our POP was set by the maintenance which we knew of and beforehand. Were advised to respect them and not hit into them. The guy apologized for leaving the irrigation on #3 par 3 and having to return to shut it down, our longest wait of the day. Great mild sunny weather with a breeze on the back starting on 13th.

Greens: great a bit slow lush no winter kill. They look great. Lengthen the stroke properly to adjust was the key.
Fairways: Good too. A touch shaggy but no lie complaints from the short stuff.
Rough: getting thick and a few spots with patches of bare spots to fill-in. I took a drop from one spot since I needed to flop a wedge. In strict play it down conditions the player will probably get a few bad ones in the rough.
Bunkers: The sand is there and firmness fine. All need machine work. Which should be expected at a course at this $$$ range. Was in a few and one footprint necessitating a drop.

Good value and worth the Saturday day trip 80 mile one way travel. Easy light traffic back downhill to Sacramento after a lunch of Mex at Cafe Baeza. ;)

Played early on a warmer than normal spring Sunday. Conditions were great overall. The greens were firm and fair. Overall in great shape and I wanted to get a higher rating into GK for up to date reports.
They had a local US Open Qualifier here 5/9/22 and one under par was the winning score even got in and two one over pars with many at that number alternates.
Great track always fun and challenging.
Troon card rate for $60 and a Golf Moose voucher available now too. Good value

Early out on Mother's Day and the weather was perfect. Then the front came through as predicted with clouds and showers later in the day.

The notable updates on conditions are:

The greens coming around nicely. A week or less to mow off the remaining poa seed heads and they'll be as fine as they get here.

The fairways are filling out and mower stripes visible now. A nice touch.

Some bunkers ok sand others dirt and some others are being filled in. Sand on property so continuing work in progress.

Met Bob who is on assignment out of superintendent "retirement" (WA state) to bring back the course to it's better condition playing days. His advice is working and the steady improvement is evident on the course. The staff is doing what it takes and it shows.

Three weeks in a row here. Liked them all. Time to up the slope level and see if we can score at a tougher course. Will return soon enough.

Played in windy conditions in the afternoon of a contractors rainy day off that cleared to blustery winds and partly sunny skies.
Not many GKers play here no reviews since my last visit 2018. We used a Golf now hot deal that made dealing with the weather worth it.
Greens had been small tinned last week and show little sign of that and are good. Smooth not to many ball marks and just a bit slow with the poa seed heads in season. A couple weeks and should be great as they usually are here. Rest of the conditions like you'd expect at this $ range. Customer service friendly and glad I made the visit in order to make a deuce on Par 3 4th.

Played first out 7:04 Sunday. Happy to find the time online. The one course I use the Chat box to book my tee times. Have to give the course kudos for the way they inform you of the green maintenance. Pops-up first thing when you link to the website. NO surprises! THANK YOU.
"On April 4th we will be solid punching our greens, this is a fast healing process."
Truth in advertising and the greens were a bit long and slow but playable and are healthy. A couple more days and they can be cut down to the correct height and will be great. Putts had break but on slower side. The aertiation holes are hardly noticeable no top sand dressing
Rest of the course good to better than normal as well. Fairways good and rough will be thickening up as the weather warms.
A course that you can bang it around and recover from errant shots. Today was a bit windy so some experimental stances and harder than normal swings attempted and the ball can be found and played most times when it doesn't go as planned.
Good place. Good people. Good fun. Not too tough. And it was POP 2.5 hours and we didn't hurry. Home before the Masters telecast came on TV.

Found a tee time Saturday for early Sunday. Wasn't there early in the week. Possibly due the the Tuesday aeration of the putting surfaces as well as many green fringe areas.
Slow bumpy un-mowed surfaces. Take a quick look and bang it with some topspin.
The rough was thick as well and cuttings left behind from mowers in a few areas. Active mowing on Sunday not usually seen here.
Overall course is coming into it's own and a couple weeks for the greens and the other areas through the green to grow and the course will be great shape
The green fee deals I so enjoy will be hard if any to come by for prime weekend times.
You know from my other reviews I'm a big fan of this course. It checks all the boxes.

Played on a contractors day off. Rain early then clearing to chance of showers in the afternoon. Which we waited one cell out (12 mins) during the 3.5 hour round mid-day Monday 3/28. Playing on a golf now hotdeal ideal for these weather conditions at $20. On to the course. Owned and operated by Thunder Valley Casino.
Greens real nice rolling med fast due to moisture. Undulating and challenging. Had been micro-tined weeks ago and are close to perfect. Spring maintenance complete.
Fairways tight dormant. Dry with lots of roll in the short grass. Some semi-deep rough but most areas manageable.
Good sand in the bunkers and rakes but un-kept, with many prior foot prints and the rain packed. Need a tilling.
I noticed my 5.1 rating in Dec when I last played. It's going higher and the course overall will be in superior condition in the next month or so with spring temps waking up the Bermuda. Challenging and tight track.
Recent local H.S. tournament play, two guys shot par 71. I made note of in the local sports. I did too but still had a handful of holes left.

Took advantage of the offered / afforded opportunity to play this gem again Sunday. It was again terrific.
One important note: no driving range at the course. Players are welcome to use Spyglass range or Pebbles a bit farther away. Do this before arriving at SB.
On to the review. Cool sunny and gusty winds of 20+ mph. Kind of day the ball would wiggle on the tee but not fall off a few times. Makes a challenging course play a bit tougher as expected. Immaculate 96% everywhere through the green. Greens rolling nice a bit slow if I was to nit pick. Undulating and very interesting. Tee boxes laser level and lush. Not sure why all courses above $$ level can't be this way. Fairways carpet like smooth.
Links style golf at it's finest. The best ocean views for the most holes where I've ever played. Lunch in the restaurant with panoramic views of the course and ocean. Then continue the 17 mile drive through Marsh Corner (#8) reminded of Todd's birdie there. Past Monterey Pennisula CC, Cypress Point and nearby Spyglass. 11 rating on the 10 scale imo.
Golf nut I am. If I was in a rain-suit all day using an umbrella, I'd probably rate it the same. Can't control the weather.

Frost delayed until 9am mini-shotgun: hole 6 start for us lead-off. The clear calm overnight continued with sunny skies 38-53 degrees POP finishing in 4.5 hrs.
Until our unusual turn from the 18th to #1 when we had 5 holes to go the pace was as we wanted as a two-some. From there mixed in with tee times pace slowed. Staff did there best, however when we finished and turned back to clubhouse there were three groups waiting on #2 tee box par 5.
Great conditions overall and the greens excellent. Bunkers groomed and nice coverage and depth. Made a double sandy par on the par 5 16th. Up and down from greenside on 9.
Fairways good a few thin spots as well as in the rough. Beverage cart was spot on to be waiting to serve us after a birdie by my friend on #8 and was by a few more times after.
Busy place on Sunday and the conditions justify it.

With the Sunday GK event finale and the final round of our three course four day road trip from Sacramento. Concur with the other players this course was the highlight. Just fantastic layout and facility.
Upscale to pro level / Division 1 caliper. (at least that's what she looked like on the green practicing for more than two hours)
The surrounding mountain views and of the Colorado river and Laughlin are fantastic. I commented the weather to start as mostly to definitely perfect. Desert edges contrasting to the dormant rough to the green tight lie fairways eye candy.
Course like the others have written in great shape with a few areas of GUR minor concern. Overall strong A with the exception of bunker sand many with rough sand and a few pebbles just deal with it. I noticed the last two holes had the fine sand. I suppose with the high winds at times, keeping that fine stuff in the bunkers on all 18 and nice would be a maintenance challenge.
Great staff service and food.
If you want to double your fun I recommend the GK event two days 100%
I used the OnCore Elixer ball for the first time here and after a shaky start the one rest of the sleeve made it back to the bag. Liked them.
