Great when a plan comes together. Had targeted playing here for a few months.
Using the Troon card and my alarm was able to get Blackhorse late Am Saturday and Bayonet early Sunday. An attractive rate and great weather (the majority of both rounds shorts and short sleeves) I had the best weekend of 36 holes this year.
Agree with the previous review on the course conditions, but not completely with the opinions.
Some experience playing certainly will help. And if you are hitting it to the wrong area you will pay the price here more than most tracks.
Tees ok most over-seeded, all level from the whites. Rough manageable 3" + - . Fairways good not great some imperfections I played it down and caught a few challenging lies against green grass sitting on brown. Approach shots unless a mile high dropping straight took a bounce that must be calculated for. Pitch shots with the second bounce spin will check but the player must be in position for that type of shot. Flop shots ineffective for the most part. Bunkers firm and kept up nicely. Really nice to look at with the contouring shapes. One partner observed they resemble the canopy top of the cypress trees.
More than like playing here. Today with three others new to the course is was fun being tour guide in great weather. Albeit slow play (5+ hrs) following small group events. The views and the company eliminated the need for musical distractions. Beer cart ice cold.

My 18th of the 20 reviews here so in brief: Like playing here for variety of reasons.
Today the greens were in the "usual" condition. Putting flat and fast, that with the tiers and undulations very challenging. I avoided three putting until the 17th (from 30') and the 18th from 6 foot downhill left to a longer one coming back.
It was a busier than usual early morning with lots of players about driving range and practice greens. Autumn weather and a hint of frost and ice on a ball I found on the par 5 2nd. Maybe why we started 10 min late.
Fairways were nice with a few wet spots roped off GUR and one of my tee shots embedded in the rough. A few mushy spots through the green, keeps it lush.
Bunkers machine worked for a 6 rating, damp, playable, but befuddled me more than once.
Ranks are out and need to be used by ALL players in there.
Troon managed.

Quick update: Did NOT know before we go'd! The greens had been large tine punched a little more than a week ago. They are more than 50% healed no sand a few bumps and slower than usual.
Pro shop offered the info at check-in and gave us a discount without asking. Turned that into a beer at the turn. POP great as usual for the dew sweepers out early. Greens were mowed but a bit of dew came back and a few mosquitoes until the sun rose higher.
Pleasant conditions and the usual cool vibe here with other golfers and the staff.
I asked about the unusual amount of clover in the fairways and was told that was going to be chemically dealt with soon. Bunkers have the new sand and play well if maintained.

Played 9/19 included in the GolfMoose/Gk outing.
This is a part of Bakersfield that I'd return to again to enjoy great golf. In a neighborhood the clubhouse is high on a hill driving in. Great visual and a large facility with interesting landscaping and architecture. Billy Bell designed course playing conditions well described by kviser. Classic use of the hilly terrain and the last par 3 of the day is a long one. Smaller greens many elevated.
The snack bar is situated in the middle of the course and large enough to be a gathering area with covered outdoor patio. Laid back compared to clubhouse area. Separate building on-site for large gym and the pool area / tennis and such can be seen golfing a few of the holes.
Certainly a private golf club that has attention to detail and traditions. Pleasantly surprised.

Enjoyed playing the links style course in inland Dinuba as part of the Meet-Play GK event 9/18
Spot on conditions report by Alex. I'll add the greens are very receptive and lush holding shots and making large marks. However they putt faster than I expect. A rare and enjoyable combination as these greens would be being drier and closely mown as well. High marks.
Fairways provide the links roll. And the bunkering provide a nice look. The banks are cut steep and they're deep.
Good golf game and the restaurant was open late in the day. Three finger Jack's. High marks and full menu. A wedding was held in the adjacent facility.
Links style golf inland south of Fresno. A gem in the fields.

Quick update from 9/11 round.
Course in summer shape. Greens got through the heat wave well. Nice full coverage and color rolling medium speed. Most bunkers are good sand now. If raked really nice to play out of damp but not wet. Fairways are ok with some larger areas of clover growing the only knock on the conditions. Tee box improvements continue. and most are level a little longer grass in spots
A break in the heat wave and little wind did bring out the mosquitos hungry through at least 6 holes early Am.

Our 2nd out beat the heat tee time was delayed 10 minutes because of Saturday afternoon evening winds blowing debris on the greens.* Never would have noticed had the starter not advised us of this.
Overall from open to now with a close date of October 19th without any early snow that sticks, this course has been consistently better than average all year. Completed our 4th year of 5 rounds each season.
Good summer for growing grass in the mountains and the putting surfaces indicated that.
Yesterday however there were many more ball marks than usual. Ran nice at medium-fast. Large enough and undulating enough that attention to the pin location is vital.
Fairways also great and we hit the mowers a couple holes they are very aware and pull off and it's a quick play through (9 & 10, 15) not many bad spots through the green. Rough sticky enough but not unrelenting.
Only sore spot the bunkers as commented on by another in our group; "paying list $ at $190 you'd expect a little better upkeep." And I'd have to agree. I played them like he did rake a spot and place it.
Customer service always good and the beverage cart was out on the 15th hole making rounds for the day.
By the time we finished the breeze was kicking up. ( * Prior day Saturday "breeze" dust stormed Burning Man event in nearby NV desert zero visibility)
Would like to return in October when the greens firm up as it gets closer to end of season.

Early out on Birthday golf Tuesday. they are listed as a GK birthday golf venue however with the Sr rate at $45 each it was good enough.
A little more the two years since I played here. And it's been a love hate relationship with me and this course if I maybe honest. Bad day scoring yesterday with plenty of trouble found on most any hole.
Still an interesting track in a beautiful semi-mountain setting (elevation 2500+)
The other reviews tell the story about the course geography too.
Conditions yesterday:
Greens ok rolled variable as they had not been mowed. Dew tracks and later got fast as it got warm and dried up. fairways good tight lies some areas in the rough or close to the playing areas variable. You may catch a bad lie with great lie a few feet away.
Tees (whites) a bit beat-up and shaggy I'd say most players use these.
Bunkers ok a bit moist.
Liked playing here again wish my swing and scoring were more cooperative.
Some highway 50 repaving and traffic route changes for safety. Might take an extra 10 minutes coming from west.

First out 8/15 on a mild Sunday morning ideal weather.
Writing review for primary purpose of report on the putting surfaces.
Unusually bumpy pretty much all of them for some reason of which I'd only be speculating to explain. They putted ok but not the normal smoothness expected here.
Fairways provide tight lies with some areas of wetness from overnight watering and some drier areas from the relentless daily summer sun. Very playable 90%.
The course does a good job of emailing and thanks for playing. In this case I texted back yesterday as they offered. Asking about the putting surfaces and some explanation. No reply yet.
I'd expect they're fully healed in a week or so with uniform growth balancing out. Appears they had been verti-cut or some other process to help.
Pricing in prime time weekends is set at flat $80 with the senior rate removed. Still a good value utilizing the troon card.

Played 8/12 mid-day fairly busy 9 holes just over two hours. Slower pace than I prefer. Still $16 to walk same value as two years ago. Not many courses have done this!
Couple areas of GUR on or around greens. The super did this intentionally to repair another spot. Healing nicely and has his full attention. Rest of putting surfaces nice. Fairways a bit dry and firm good roll out rough pretty much cut down most areas. Tee boxes good. Bunkers ok.
Had a bogey string going until the tough par 3 7th into the wind where we spoke to the greenskeeper.
Beer was cold sky was cloudless. Oddly mid-day the practice range and green left of first hole was deserted.
Nice walk on MGF; mandatory golf Friday.

Don't need to be wordy.
Played 8/7/2022 early with two gentlemen who were experiencing the course for the first time. All of us about (with-in 5 index points) the same age and abilities playing the white tees.
Second hole Tony #1 says "wow these tee boxes are shaggy" ((sarcastically) they're perfect).
Rough tough stuff penal mostly can still get a chance at a good lie to advance out.
Fairways great. Greens impeccable. Quick but fair in all circumstances. Best I've played all year.
Bunkers firm some machine work damp in some areas. Only course area rating below 9.5.
Two holes cart path only 5 and 11 a few other areas roped off from carts but all areas playable.
Consistently high level of facility and service(s). No need to go on. You need to play here!

Saturday 7/9 joined by Vince his 5th time ever playing golf. The white tees at 5400yds.
Steady progress to report; bringing the courses luster back.
Greens really nice putting fair a bit on the slower side. Consistent very few marks.
The bunkers are all fully done with the re-sand project. A hint of gray color and a bit wet to help settle it. Raked they are nice to play from.
A nice low pressure easy to play course in which errant shots are recoverable most times.
Great vibe here reasonable beer prices. No beverage cart easy bar service at the turn.
