Played on Tuesday the 22nd for my 2nd day of bucket list golf. No picture, video game or television broadcast can prepare you for the beauty of Pebble. On this day the Champions Tour was beginning their practice rounds, so the course had TV towers, grandstands, and was roped off for spectators. From the moment you step into the pro shop you know this is not your typical day of golf.
Course conditions:
tees - very good condition, firm and lush.
Fairways - not as lush as to be expected, a little thin and spotty. The drought has had its toll on the course. Still very playable and good. The right side of the 18th fairway was very thin and has not healed from the car show a few last month.
Rough - probably the worse part of the course. Very very thin and spotty next to the fairways, but near the greens it is lush and thick.
Greens - excellent, med fast and true. A caddie will save you many strokes. Very hard to read and speed is critical. Your first trip here will frustrate you some. Would take a few rounds to get used to them.
Sand - I have never experienced any sand as good as this. I felt like I didn't deserve to be playing out of sand this good. Was definitely set up for the pro. Avoid the cross bunker on 2, it can eat you up and spit you out.

Every golfer should experience Pebble once. Take a caddie and a camera. They let my wife ride in a cart and follow the group around and she couldn't have been happier. Oh almost forgot, it was way cool sitting at the table next to Ben Crenshaw at breakfast and listening to him tell his buds a few US open stories

Played Spyglass for the first time today and I can say that this was the greatest golf experience I have ever had. Tees, fairways, and greens are incredible. Greens were med fast with breaks that are difficult to read. My caddie saved me at least 10 strokes. The sand in the bunkers was without a doubt the best sand I have ever played out of. The only part of the course that wasn't up to perfect standards is the rough. Very spotty and the is because of the drought I was told.
Tee'd off at 10:00 sharp and finished right at 2:45. The first 5 holes are incredible and are the only ocean view holes there are. The remaining holes move you through the forest. 1st hole had deer droppings down the fairways, not sure if they pooped on the course or if we were playing through their bathroom. It doesn't matter, because of the greatness of this course.
Small clubhouse that is no more than a muni style club house, but it fits the course beautifully.
The range is off mats but very nice mats.
Play here and splurge for a caddie, and enjoy golf the way it was meant to be played. Pebble here I come tomorrow and you have a lot to live up to, to beat Spyglass

Played on Sunday the 16th and there is not much more to add to the previous posts as they are spot on. The over saturation of some of the areas of the course is the only complaint I would have. The course is fun and challenging. Love playing here and the staff is always top notch. Thanks Redhawk for making this outing a great time.

Played last Tuesday and it seemed like we might have been the only people on the course. We never saw another golfer so pace of play was what ever we wanted it to be. We even stopped for lunch and still had nobody behind us.
I found the course not in as good of shape as it was last time I played here, but I have to say that maintenance crews were out and working on the course. Fairways were mostly good except for hole nine, but they have always had problems with it. A few fairways had longer grass so roll out was not good. The rough is tough, I counted at least four different grass types, so going in the rough was an adventure. I did find the course very wet and did have to play through sprinklers on a few holes. A couple of greens were very wet and putts would have a rooster tail off the ball. For the most part the greens were in good shape, soft and medium speed.
I will come back here, can usually find a good deal online or by email and the course has a lot of personality.

Played Saturday with fellow GKer's mdames and lamitchw and had a blast. The course is challenging, but very fair. Conditions were really good throughout the course. The greens were awesome and will take a few visits to get to know how they will break. Fairways were great and always had a great lie. The rough is rough, thick is some places and a little thinner in others. On hole 9 my ball found a mound with British Open type grass and that was very penal. Saw the beverage cart 3 times and the snack bar at holes 9 and 10 is nice. You can order before hitting a tee shot on nine and pick it up after finishing hole 10.

The course has a great variety of holes and and a great layout. Watch for foot golf players on the back nine, they can show up in your fairway at anytime.

Staff was great and a marshal came around a few time to let us know it could be a little slow because a tournament ahead of us. We waited on a few shots but pace for the day was still good. We played in 4:40. Not bad for a Saturday.

Thanks to the folks at River Ridge for hosting us and I will definitely take the hour and a half drive again to play here.

For our 4th round in 114 degree weather we played Shadow Ridge and we were glad we did. This was My first time here and I loved it. My reservation was not in the system and the guy behind the desk made sure we got out.
The course is visually great, Faldo must have had a good deal on sand because there is an abundance of bunkers. Many of the holes look very tight and no place to land a drive, this is not always the case, check the GPS because there is more room than you think.
The greens looked like the U.S. OPEN greens, but were actually green. There were med fast and fun. Hole 17 is a short par 3 with a green that has so many undulations, you better be on the correct part of the green.
Fairways were is very good shape.
Rough can be hit or miss, but it is summer.
Bunkers have nice sand and you will be in one at some point.
Pace of play was about 3:30 and that is with two of us taking extra shots and putting from several parts of the greens just for fun.
Can't wait to get back some time.

Day two of our 14 man Poor Mans outing brought us to Desert Princess CC. We played the Vista/Los Lagos nines. Liked the Vista nine much more than Los Lagos. The Vista nine plays mostly in the same river bed as Cimmaron, but with a lot more character. Because of the abilities of most of the golfers in our group we played the white tees, while On the Vista nine it is fine, the white tees played rather short on Los Lagos which winds through condos and houses.
We were treated well and appreciate the service.
The courses played nice while the Vista nine looked like winter conditions with greens and fairways green in color, the rough is brown and shows water rationing.
The greens were nice and putted well, and had some unrepaired ball marks.
The fairways are nice with a few brown spots, but it is summer. It looks like they are getting ready for some major work on the fairways as there is stacks of piping in the rough on about half the holes.
The course is fun, cheap ($30 including lunch) and playable for all levels. As said before, you may need to adjust the tees you are playing during your round.

Played 36 on Thursday June 18th. $50 for two rounds per person including breakfast, lunch and 2 draft beers or soft drinks. It was 114 in the afternoon and no drink carts out but they warn you so you can load up the cart. There is water in a few places on the course which was nice to refill water bottles. We had a group of 14 and the treated us great. Staff should be applauded for the hard work they put in to make sure we were taken care of.
The course is in basic summer conditions with medium speed greens and they are very firm. There is a 3-4 foot dirt color around most greens, it looks like they are making the greens a little larger. The greens putted very nice.
Fairways were nice, a little thin in places, but very playable.
I don't remember much about the bunkers.
Rough was a little this in places, but they don't set this course up to be overly penal.
This a resort course and plays great with a good variety of holes. They are doing their part with the drought, the water features are all turned off.
We will return.

Played 48 holes yesterday, 18x2+9+3. I haven't played here in years and forgot how tough this course can be. This is not a grip and rip type of course. ball placement and know your club yardages is everything. Had a great time and the staff here were great and treated us very nicely. Used the GK coupon for $40 plus replay and they let us go out for another nine + what ever we could get in before dark. Started our rounds in the fog which made the course play extra long and combining that with the elevation changes, made for a "your guess is as good as mine" type of morning. Carts do not have GPS, so a handheld device is almost essential here.
Tees - are in decent shape, not great, but playable.
Fairways - good shape, but a few could use a mowing.
Greenside bunkers are in great shape with great sand in them.
Rough - penalizing. Moisture from the fog, night sprinklers, and the grass very long, made being in the rough an adventure.
Greens - Loved them, hard to read and just plain fun. The were med/fast and somewhat firm. For the most part not a lot of ball marks.

This course is out there and does not have cell phone service which made it difficult for me to call in "sick" to work.

Played here yesterday for a GK Cup match with lotrgolfer48. POP was 4:15 and for a Saturday that is great. The course is in good muni shape but the fairways are showing some effects of the drought. Still very playable. The greens and bunkers are in great shape. Some ball mark damage, but nothing out of the ordinary. The speed of the greens are med fast and greenskeeper had a sense of humor with the flag placements. Some were on sever slopes. I was in 2 bunkers and the sand is perfect. Soft and fluffy. Not to difficult to get a fried egg lie.
A couple of things that the course does lack is a drink cart and a snack bar closer to the ninth green and 10th tee box. If you are walking the course going to get a hot dog or drink could slow the POP down.
This is my go to course when I want to just get out and play and it plays a lot faster than any of the Long Beach courses.

Played 36 holes yesterday with an UnderPar certificate. First time at this course and I really liked it. The par 3's on this course great, each with a unique challenge. The 4th hole is uphill with a four tier green. The flag was in the back and made for a fun test of putting skills.

The course itself is in good shape, the fairways are thin and hard and makes wedge shots difficult. I found the bunkers to be in good shape with firm sand in the fairway bunkers and god soft sand near the greens. The greens are in nice shape right now, putts had very little bounce and held shots nicely. Tee boxes are a little worn, but very playable. Staff were very nice and treated us. us nicely.

Overall I had a good time and the weather was as perfect a day for golf as could be. Looking forward to going back.

Played on Monday 3/30 for a GN cost of $44 ( worth three times as much). Tee'd off at 1:36 and finished in right at 4 hours. From the time you enter the property until the time you leave this is a first class facility. Bag drop to bag pick-up, I was treated very well. Customer service is top notch.
Now for the conditions;
Range - grass range with good flag distances marked out.
Putting green - good shape and is exactly what you will find on the course.
Tee Boxes - great shape, very manicured
Fairways - The only fairway that I noticed a number of divots was 18, the rest of the fairways are like carpet. Don't get me wrong, 18 is still very good.
Rough - Incredible, it is thick and can be penalizing, but every blade of grass is the exact same length, just amazing. no bare or thin spots that I noticed and I was in the rough a lot.
Bunkers - Course sand and many rocks, very playable, but is this courses worst feature.
Greens - Firm and med/fast. Putts roll true and I loved the speed. No surprise breaks, what you see is what you get. They were a little, very little, on the tan side in color, still green though. The firmness doesn't allow many ball marks.
Pace - right at 4 hours and marshals everywhere keeping track of your time.

I looked forward to this round and my expectations were met and exceeded.
