Played yesterday not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. The conditios were a lot better than past reviews with the fairways being the biggest surprised. Other than hole 9, the fairways were good. Could have used a mowing but other that that quite good. Greens were medium fast and fun to play. Bunkers are the worst part of the course, playable but mostly fluffed up dirt.

Used the golf moose coupon for $42 for two players which is an incredible price for what we played on. This was my first visit and it won't be my last

Played CCC for the first time yesterday with a friend that is a member there. For it being "private" I was not really overly impressed. The course was in nice shape, but so are a lot of public courses. The layout and overall course is just average. Just a bunch of straight holes with length and deep bunkers being it's only defense. The conditions were good, but average. Greens were med fast without a lot of movement. The greens were bumpy from early morning spike marks on the cold damp surface. The fairways were good and the rough was damp and thick, a few thin spots, but that is normal in winter. The bunkers have great fluffy sand and was the best part of the course. My biggest gripe is that the greens have many unrepaired ball marks and the bunkers have many unraked areas. When I asked my friend why the members don't take care of the course better he told me he asked management and they said it was a cultural thing. I just don't get it. There is a lot of freeway noise as it sits right next to the 605 freeway, but I got used to it fairly quickly and it didn't bother me. If you like a very quite setting for golfing, this course would not be for you. No driving range, just a big net with about 10 hitting bays.
I liked the course and had fun, but expected more.

Played here today for the first time in years, and I thought the course was in the best shape I have seen it. Pace of play was slow at first, but the Marshall was on top of things and got it moving along. Had a slow group, but they were letting other play through. They play only the front nine and then quit. We finished in 4:45, so not bad.
Tee boxes - good shape, not much damage and overall pretty level.
Fairways - some spots in the morning were wet, while other spots were dry. Very playable and in overall good shape.
Rough - not much to speak of and not very penalizing.
Greens - best part of the course, med-fast and would hold shots. A few unrepaired ball marks, but not anything out of the normal for any course. Greens can be hard to read. Everything breaks away from the hills , even if it looks like it will break up hill.
Bunkers - green side, not bad, course sand. Fairways lots of bigger rocks and one that should have been marked under repair, with dirt and weeds growing in it.
Overall I had a blast. Fun course.

Just finished playing Aliante and the conditions were mostly good. Pace of play was right at 4hours and I think we could have finished in a hair over 3 hours if we weren't stuck behind a slowish 4 some. $35 for afternoon out of state rate was good.

Tees...good for the most part with no big complaints except that the tee markers were at extreme angels and not perpendicular to the fairways.
Fairways...good shape and the ball would sit up nicely.
Greens.... Slowish and a little bumpy. Ball would only break about half what they looked like and you do have to pay attention to where the Strip is, putts break towards the Strip. Normal summertime desert greens.
Bunkers... Did have sand in them but some of the traps had rocks. Seemed like the closer you got to 18 the more the rocks were noticeable and the greens would have these rocks on them near the traps.
Rough..was nice and was a good challenge. A few spots the grass was not so penal, but overall it was good

Over all I liked the course and would play it again. Just wish the greens were faster.

Played yesterday 6/13 and I couldn't be more pleased. This course is just beautiful and the customer service is GREAT! The greens were punched a few weeks ago with small holes and still haven't healed completely, but doesn't affect the puts very much at all. The fairways have also been punched but didn't seemed like it made any difference until hold 17 and 18 which seemed a little more shaggy than the others. When it gets mowed they will be nice. The course is incredibly green. Nice sand in the bunkers.

This was my first time playing this course and I can't wait to get back out there and play again. I'm jealous of the group going out today. I could shot myself for not signing up for this event.

Oh the water and ice station on the course is awesome, no excuses for not have cold water while playing.

Played Memorial day morning in 4 hours and 5 minutes. I arrived at 6 am and was told I was on the tee, I teed off at 6:10.
I hadn't played here in a very long time because I hadn't been treated very nice by pro shop staff my last two visits, this time it was great.
The course is a confident booster type of course, not long and only a few holes that you can get in trouble on. This was one of the courses I played when I graduated from executive courses. The course was always in decent shape.
The course itself has taken a turn. It is sad to see how bad things are here. A little TLC and this course can get back on track.
Everything from tee to green are not what they should be.
Tee boxes had such long grass, it was like hitting out of the rough. Somebody needs to fire up a lawn mower.
Fairways were the same way, with patches of long grass throughout. Drives down the middle would not roll out because of the patches of long grass. MOWER PLEASE! Also almost every fairway had mud at one point or another, or were soaked beyond what they should be.
There are no fairway bunkers on the course, but the green side bunkers were very hard or they had standing water in them. I was in two bunkers and never bothered to take a rake with me because you can't rake something that hard.
The greens looked very good but were slow and I do mean slow, chips and putts would not run out, even downhill. Made putting very difficult. The 16th green looks like it has a fungus or disease, there are yellowish circles all over the entire green.
The rough was either hard pan or 3+ inches deep.
Looks like with a little work they can get this course back into decent shape.

Played earlier this week and have to agree with earlier reviews, this place is coming around. the fairways were in good shape and the rough was a little inconsistent, but not bad at all. The greens here is the courses major defense, the slopes on the greens really test your green reading abilities. Although there are a few too many unrepaired ball marks, you have to take into account that this is a LA County muni course. The bunkers are filled with fluffy sand and can leave a person with more than enough fried egg lies.

It's really nice to know that somebody cared about this course to try and bring it back to shape. The grounds staff here need to be commended.

My only gripe for the day is that the crews were mowing around the greens starting at hole 1 and moving towards 18, instead on moving from hole 18 to hole 1 and they should do. They would not halt to let us hit onto the greens and had to put up with this until hole 5. We called the manager and the crews quickly changed there patterns.

I haven't played Green River in a few months and was only disappointed in a few aspects of the course. Pace of play was what felt like an extra long 5 hours. I arrived 30 minutes before my tee time, which I should have booked online. All the online prices was $27(golfnow and the Green River website) so I figured that was the price for the day, I should have asked, I was charged $45 which is the most I have ever paid here. I guess I shouldn't have assumed.

Tee boxes - a little chewed up, but playable.
Fairways - for the few I hit they were good, with a few thin spots.
Rough - a very mixed bag from thin to lush, with different grasses throughout.
Bunkers - not good at all, just fluffed up dirt and thin. No sand at all.
Greens - the first 11 holes have bare spots on the greens. The Marshall told me that when they punched the greens a few months back, they punched too deep and killed the roots. Holes 12 through 18 are a whole different story, receptive and it great shape with no damage.
Customer service - the Marshall was on top of his game. After 10 holes the group in front of us was a hole and a half behind the group that was in front of them, which were a hole and a half behind the group in front of them. When we talked to 2 of the 4 guys in front of us, while they were sitting enjoying a beer, told us they were in a tournament, which trumps other play and we should shut the "f" up, all the while the marshal was sitting listening to this. He got on the radio and took off. When we got to the 13 the tee box the group in front of up were made to skip holes and catch up to the group in front of them, which were told the same thing. The Marshal gave each us up a coupon for a free cart next time we play there. The apology, the coupon and the action of the staff at Green River was great. More courses need to take a stand like this.

Played Sierra Lakes on Friday, October 18 at a great price of $36 for a 7:15 tee time. The pace of play was 4:15 and a very comfortable pace. Had a two in front and back of us and we were a threesome. When we finished the course looked like it was getting crowded and backed up.
Tee boxes - good shape, but could use a little work.
fairways - in good shape, but with the morning dew were wet and soft.
Rough - good shape and consistent, not many bare spots.
Bunkers - was not in any fairway bunkers, but was in a few greenside and the sand was fantastic. I wish every course had traps like these.
Greens - with the morning dew, the greens were soft and bumpy from foot prints. As the day went on and they dries out the greens got better. The first couple of holes had many pitch marks and didn't look like repairing marks is a priority. as the day went on the greens did get better. Some of the pin positions were just diabolical and short puts had to be hit firm.
Overall It was a great day and well worth the price we paid.

We finished our 2 day golf trip with a forth and final round on the Firecliff course. The minute you pull onto the property you know you are in for something special. We had a $ 30 deal from golfnow and tee'd off at 2:00 The customer service is incredible, so many people to lend a hand. We were greeted warmly and the great service just kept coming. Not only do they have water stations throughout the course, but also ice machines. We were brought out cold towels during our round which was great. The GPS is 2nd to none, giving updates on the beverage cart but also warnings when there can be cross traffic. The GPS also has fly overs of each hole. The cart automatically slows down in these ares and speeds back up when out of trouble. They also stop if you get too close to the greens or traps. The course is in great condition and all the grass is a nice dark shade of green.
Tees - level and in really good condition
Fairways - The ball sits up nicely throughout the course. just try and place the ball on a level section, the fairways do roll.
Rough - Not to penal, but will affect your shot.
Bunkers - WOW is there a lot of bunkers, sometimes it seems like there are more bunkers then there is fairway when looking from the tee. The sand was good, a little hard packed, but playable. One of the greenside bunkers I was in did not have any rakes. I think it was hole two.
Greens - They look kind of funky, because of the different shades of green, but they are great. Nice and fast, but not so fast as to make them unplayable.
This course is just beautiful, a lot of wildlife everywhere you look, from roadrunners, ducks and rabbits, to coyotes and types of lizards I have never seen before. I can't be any happier making this one of the courses we played this week.

Played on Friday morning June 14. I really didn't know what to expect from this course, and now I am glad we played this course. Like most reveiws says, this course would be a bear in the afternoon with the wind. We teed off at 7:00 with hardly a breeze. The course was different from most other courses in the area as there are no houses or condos on the course, it's just in the middle of nowhere. This course was not too difficult but could sneak up and bite you if you are not placing the ball on the right part of the fairways.
Tee Boxes - Good, not much damage
Fairways - in good shape, but could use a little more water, there are brown spots, but still very playable.
Rough - not very long and not real penalizing.
Bunkers - average, but wet most of the morning.
Greens - small holes still evident from punching two weeks ago, but did not affect putts. Putts ran true and the greens were medium fast.
pace - 3.5 hours
Customer Service - Only saw three people working at the course, two in the clubhouse and one bartender. The bartender makes a killer tuna sandwich. The bar computer was down, so we had to pay for our food and drinks pro shop. One of the two guys working was sleeping on a couch and we woke him up. No cart girl on the course.
Overall I enjoyed the course, but it is bare bones golf, don't expect too much more than a decent golf course. Buy a yardage book, it will help with some tee shots.

Played on Thursday June 13 for our 2nd 18 of the day. Played as a 3 man scramble and I loved the course. The course was ready for us as we arrived and made sure we got out early. Customer service was great! We payed $30 for the afternoon tee times and is was more than worth it, The course was in great shape and I loved the greens.
Tee boxes - in good shape, I can't rememeber if anything was not up to standards, so they must have been good.
Fairways - Never a bad lie in the fairways, and the ball sat up great. Nice and green.
Rough - not to penal, grass is abut a inch long, but is a little thin, as this was a scramble we only had to hit out of it once.
Greens - Though they are many shades of green and look like they would be bumpy, they were anything but, the ball rolled smooth and true. They were fast, and was so much fun to put on. The ball did not hold great, but they did hold. I wish I could putt on these greens more often.
Bunkers - looked ok, but we were not in them, so I can't give a good reveiw.
Pace - 3.5 hours, with a few singles playing through.
the housing blocked some afternoon wind and once the ball was up in the air, the wind affected the balls flight.
Everybody in our group loved the course, the challenge was just right, some holes made you think but were not unfair by any means.
I really look forward to playing again here next month.
