Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!I read on here a lot of bad reviews for Dos Lagos and I was a bit timid at first to go and play. I played here today and we started on #10 because they said they are going to start doing that because of the lack of a driving range and not being able to warm up. After playing the course I understand why now. The back nine is pretty wide open and reminds me of the Mountain Course in La Quinta, and the front nine is very narrow, with little turns in the fairways that can get you in trouble, and a few blind tee shots, and approach shots. I only hit driver a few times on the front, and a couple irons, and 3 woods on the others. The customer service is top notch, and all the staff is very talkative and friendly. The course was in really good shape, and the greens had a little sand left over, but rolled true and pretty fast. I have to say that I liked this course and there is a lot of good holes, and 3 tricked up holes. #6, 7, and 16 are very, very tricked up, and other than those holes I really liked the layout. Definitely worth the greens fee, and I will be going back there soon.
Great course that is very unique to the SoCal. area. Lots of Burns, sand traps, and waste areas, with very undulated fairways. You will need to play this course once or twice to get the feel for where the hazards are from off the tee, because even though the course is a true links layout being flat, you can't really tell where your ball is going to land from the tee box due to the undulated fairways. Many Burns come into play off the tee around the 250-310 yard mark. Great course that is in great shape, that plays a bit slow due to the challenge off the tee. I will play here again soon. Great value.
Always a pleasure to play here. Course is always in really good shape, and a very fun layout that isn't to tuff, or easy for that matter, and the staff is very nice.
Played here on 10/6/07 and I have to say that the course is in incredible shape. The tee boxes are perfect, and the fairways are lush and for the most part as perfect as it gets. It was like my ball was on a tee in the middle of the fairway. I play here a few times a year, and this was by far the best condition I have seen it yet. It is always in good shape, but it was in PGA Tour shape this past Saturday. Great challenge from the tips, even for a scratch player like myself. Lots of 3-putts waiting for you out there if you don't put the ball on the correct level or area for that matter. Greens rolled about a 12 on the stimp and were smoooooth. Great course.
I played here on 2-18-07 and once again the Goose impressed me with everything from the pro-shop, to the golf course, to the beers after the round. The conditions are as good if not better than any other course in SoCal. Customer service is super friendly and an excellent practice range. The Goose is by far one of my favorite tracks to play, and I can't wait to come back and play. It is tough to get a time here on the weekend though, for obvious reasons.
I played here on 2/10/07 which was 3 weeks after the Bob Hope Classic was played here, & the course was still in PGA Tour shape. The course staff was top notch from the time we pulled in till the time we left. The driving range uses Titleist ProV1 and NXT Tour practice balls, and was in perfect shape also. The course itself was beyond prestine and lush, with lakes and waterfalls everywhere. The greens were super smooth and fast, the fairways were as lush and emerald green as you can get, and the layout was incredible. Every hole I felt was excellent, and very challenging. We played from the back tees and it was a challenge to say the least, but very, very fair, unlike the sister course SilverRock. All in all, just a great course, with a very courteous staff, and perfect conditions. Pricey, but worth it once in a while.
Played here 1/13/07 and as usual the course is in great shape except the GREENS!!!!! I just don't understand why they can't figure out how to keep the greens in good shape. I'm not a greenskeeper by any means, but I dont get how 6 weeks ago the greens were SMOOTH and FAST, and literally 2 weeks later I played and they were CRAP. I played here again last week and they have ALREADY sanded the greens again after just overseeding and punching them 6 weeks prior. The greens were SUPER BUMPY, with sand all over them so that your approach shots would just skip across the sand like little ball bearings, and it makes it nearly impossible to make any short birdie putts because you just had to hope that it would get a lucky bounce and make it in the hole. This is my home course and I love it, and the Staff is GREAT, and the Course is GREAT, but the greens are absolute GARBAGE. I'll be back every other week like usual because it is a great course. I just wish the greenskeeper would talk to a greenskeeper from a sister course to get some advise on how to keep them fast and smooth.
I played here last Saturday and I must say that I will not be back till the Spring time when the grass grows back. I play here all the time and love the course but once again they chose not to overseed the course and the fairways and rough are dormant, which wouldn't be a problem usually, but now that the price is $96 it is definitely not worth that price to go and hit off of super thin lies all day. If you love to play thin lies than this is the place for you to go to. I'll be back in the Spring.
Played here on 12/2/06. I have been playing this course for many years now, and I must say that I have never seen the course in better shape. The greens which are usually the downfall of this course, were absolutely PERFECT! They were super fast, rolling around 11 or 12 speedwise, without any bumpyness or bare spots. The fairways were very lush but still a little long, but they just re-seeded so no big deal. Just amazed by the greens. WOW. Get out here and play while the greens last.
Played here on 7/16 and the course is finally starting to fill in due to them not overseeding for the winter. The fairways have grass now and aren't as hardpacked as they have been for the past few months. Still no rough anywhere. this course doesn't really need it though. It has all the arroyos and canyons to make it more difficult. This is one of my favorite courses for sure. The only real problem is that there are a couple of guys in the Pro-shop that are real A-holes. They make you feel like you are bothering them when you walk in. As if the $88 greenfee wasn't enough, they treat you like you are annoying them. Everything else about this course is great. The rest of the customer service here is great. The Restaurant and Bar are absolutely incredible. This is a must play course, just don't let the pro-shop guys ruin your day.
This is a very nice course with really bad GREENS & BUNKERS. It seems that the greens are being sanded and punched every other month. They never seem to be in good shape. The fairway bunkers have about 4 extra inches of sand, and the greenside bunkers are bare; they seem to have it backwards. The rest of the course is usually in immaculate shape. The fairways are always in great shape. It is a beautiful course, and the back nine plays through a canyon. This is my home course and I love it, I just wish that they would do something with the sand and the Horrible, GREENS... I mean the greens just dont match the rest of the course. By all means they are playable, but they look like they belong on some Muni Course somewhere. Worth playing for sure. Great deal if you join the Creek Card.
I played out here 11-6-05 and the course was in immaculate condition. The greens were a little on the bumpy side, but other than that, it was as prestine as it gets... Nice track with a fun layout.
