Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Update to my last review when the winter had taken its toll on the greens. They are back in terrific shape, fairways too. A great challenging layout for a muni course. Very professional staff too.
ZZZZZZZ. This is the sound of me sleeping between shots. Played on a Thursday with an 11:05 tee time. Was told they were a little behind- tee'd off at noon. A relaxing (not) 5 hours and 20 minutes later finished the round. Course condition-who cares! Had a very slow experience here once before and will not return until they learn that 7 minute spacing for tee times, does not work.
Tough winter took its toll on the greens. Some got damaged with mold growth. If the past is any indicator, they will fix them up very nicely once winter has passed.
Great value and excellent condition especially for a public course. Very professional staff. Mornings have wet thick rough and the afternoons get very windy so the links design plays totally different. Excellent condition and fun which is why it is a very popular course.
Course attendants and greenskeepers from other courses could come play Harding to learn how a course should be maintained. There is a reason the PGA Tour is coming to this course, even after a period of very heavy rains the course was perfect.
The best part is that Kemper Managment actually keeps golfers moving so if you are a slow player be prepared to have to skip a hole to keep up or get asked to leave. The marshalls watch to see what is happening before they target a group for slow play though...they know to look for the actual bottleneck and try to fix it. For a player like me, who learned that a round should not take more than 3-4 hours, ever, Harding is a godsend. I walked the course on a Saturday in under 4 hours!! I will now go out of my way to look for courses run by Kemper.

In typical American Golf management fashion they book tee times every 7 minutes and on nice days they are terribly overcrowded. This meant with my 12:45 tee time did not get off the tee box till 1:30. After making the turn a solid 3 hours later, I called it quits. Too bad because the course was pretty and could be a great place to play. This was not even a weekend round and it was unbearably slow. I hate to imagine how long it would take to play on a crowded saturday or sunday.
Course needs to dry out from all the recent rains, then it should be very good for the money. Needs maybe 2-3 weeks of dry weather.
