Wow, they have really turned this course around. The $52ish dollar rate makes this place a steal. I played Sunday morning at 9am. POP was great at 4.5 hours. The tee boxes were mostly very good, flat, some divot damage. Where this course is shining is the fairways and rough. The fairways are green and with great coverage. You'll find the occasional unmarked GIR or random bad lie but overall really good and easy to take divots from. The rough is seriously penalizing with length anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5+ inches. I was in there a few times and it will take a stroke from you (not to mention your ball will be lost if not careful). Greens were reasonable running medium and fairly pure. Get out there and play this track.

Played Saturday noon-ish on a golfnow deal.

I try to keep my emotions out of reviews but when a round takes 5hrs 35minutes and there isn't a Marshall in sight (except one that sits on the par 3 #8 trying to get you to pay for prize money) it's difficult to do so. The problem I've found most with this course is the inconsistency in speed of play. Some days is 4.5hours some 5.5hours. Half the time they'll be having problems at the starter - his list will differ from the computer so they'll end up sending groups off every 4-6 minutes. 5.5+ hour round just takes the enjoyment out of the game.

Everything else was what you expect here. Reasonable tee boxes, lush and green albeit long fairway grass, mostly hard pan/dirt rough. Pretty good medium speed greens.

Played on July 4, morning joining a threesome. As I can remember the last few years this course is generally in the best shape leading up the city championship and then takes a slow downward fall as the course drys out. It's still always playable but... Anyway, right now it's still in pretty darn good shape. Tee boxes are fair - they are mostly small, with very small teeing areas, but relatively flat. Fairways have very good coverage, mix of thin and lush, and a mix of green, light green, some GIR, and random brown/missed water areas. Rough is actually quite good considering its now summer. There are many areas where it is thick and very penalizing. Rough around the greens is especially good right now. Greens are as to be expected. Generally very good, medium speed, bumper here and there but not too bad.

Now is the time to play Simi Hills. Seems like every year right about now this course is at its best. Looks like they're getting ready for the city championship they have every year. The entire course is about at its best shape right now. Fairway are in great condition. Very lush, minimal bare spots. Nice soft and great to take a divot from. Rough is equally good, especially round the greens. Bunkers are raked well and have just the right amount of sand. Greens are more or less normal except maybe slightly faster. Really a great time to enjoy this course.

Played Harding for the first time in several months on Sunday morning. Couldn't get on Wilson of course but I honestly don't think it's that much better than Harding anyway. If Wilson was busy then the exact opposite was at Harding. I generally avoid these courses due to their slow play but today, starting at prime time, we blew through the course in about 3:45 - lightening speed for a weekend morning in Griffith Park.

Tee boxes we generally fair. Some crowning, some bad areas but always able to find a decent place to tee from.

The course itself is quite green right now. Fairways were mowed short. Generally good coverage. Bad spots here and there with an occasional really bad lie but for the most part good and certainly playable.

The rough is seriously thick right now. There are plenty of bare spots and hard pad but a lot of the rough is about 2.5inches tall and THICK. Haven't seen it this meaty. If you sail a shot under the trees not only will you be penalized by the trees you'll also be searching for your ball as it sits far below the top of the grass.

The worst part of the course right is the greens. Slow...(normal) but quite bumpy. I know they aerated about a month ago but they are pretty nasty. Several putts missed because of weird bounces.

Due to the great POP I may come back here more often. I think I payed like $51 riding. Good deal.

Played the Vineyard on the morning of 5/1. I'll play out here occasionally but I've always liked the Lakes course better. Generally the Vineyard conditions are less desirable that the Lakes, but most of the time only slightly so. I have to say they've taken a turn for the worse since the last time I played. Mostly on the fairways has the conditions deteriorated. Most of the fairways are fine, relatively lush, but on most holes there are burnt out-damaged-bare spots accumulating that are not what I'm used to at River Ridge. They are only in certain areas but there were several times where I had unfair lies after great drives.

Other than that the conditions were pretty good. Tees were generally good. Cut short. Some boxes had uneven lies. I'd say on 25% of the boxes I had to re-tee to find a good lie.

The fairways were short and with good coverage other than what I mentioned above.

The greens were in very good shape, they said 11 on the stimp, felt closer to 10 but good nonetheless.

Played Sunday morning 7:54 tee time with a groupgolfer deal. $39 all you can play w/cart and range balls. Joined a nice (albeit slightly slow) twosome. Got off about 5 minutes late.

This was my first time playing the course. I was pleasantly surprised at the layout and conditions. The course is on the easier side but most holes were unique and some of the views are outstanding.

Starting off the tee boxes were by far the worst part of the course. The grass on all of them were very long. The length of rough on most courses. I don't know if this is usual here...

Fairways had very good coverage and were mostly lush with some bare spots here and there. There also were some areas where mow height varied. Considering the rains the previous day it was slightly on the soggy side with some standing water here and there.

Rough near the fairways was very lush with a mix of not to penalizing length to very long impossible to hit out of. The course has a lot of land so some holes the farther into the rough you are the more varied the lies are. Some areas were basically unkept.

Greens rolled very well and held shots well. Speed was medium and except for a few greens they were all in great shape.

Only in a few traps but the ones I was in had good sand.

You can tell this course could be something really special. There are many areas around the course where a lack of attention to details shows but I guess the fact you can play this course for $55 makes of for it.

Not the best course out there but one I would play again.

Played the stadium today with a tee time at 9am. Our twosome was joined by two nice singles, one a member.

I'll start off by saying for a while I was thinking that I wasn't on the stadium course because my view of it differed so much from the many reviews I read. In fact if this is supposedly the 4th hardest course in the country then maybe I'm a better player than I thought? Not likely...

Played the blues as an 8 handicap with a 240 carry on my driver. The member I played with really recommended the combos but I didn't want water down the challenge. I'm glad I didn't. There are a few long par fours that took great drives to leave myself 200 yards in. Any one who drives the ball well and is accurate should consider playing the blues in my opinion.

As for unfair bounces and no-flat lies I must say I did not feel that way in the least. All of the landing areas in the fairways were relatively flat and easy to hit from. I don't remember a single time I had an odd or unfair bounce.

Greens were receptive to shots and medium to medium fast and rolled true.

Fairways were nearly immaculate with some wet spots here and there.

Rough along the fairways was lush and not too punishing. Your ball sat up decently. Rough around the greens was at times inconsistent however. Some near hard pan but not too bad.

I think Indian Wells was pretty but I had more fun playing the stadium. I'd play this again.

I shot 2 over my handicap on what I felt was an average day. Don't move up tees, challenge yourself.

Played today 4/4 as a twosome with a tee time at 11:20am. Warm sunny weather, about 90 degrees.

This course really is ideal resort golf. A beautiful nearly immaculate course that is average to slightly below average in difficulty but is a blast to play. There are several forced carries in areas which might give 20+ handicappers a tough day but anyone below a 15 handicap shouldn't really have much trouble. As an 8 handicap I played from the blues (6600 yards) but it felt shorter because this course only has two par threes. Even the 430+ yard par fours played easier because the generous fairways allowed shots at the green even with wayward drives. There are many ponds, streams, and bunkers on this course but honestly except for some greenside bunkers they were never in play for me.

Tee boxes were probably the worst part of the course but still totally playable. Just numerous divots and used tees.

Fairways were pretty much immaculate. A continuous carpet from tee to green. Great for taking divots.

Rough was moved very short and wasn't penal. Had 100% coverage.

Greens were immaculate and rolled at a really ideal speed of maybe 10 on the stimp.

We payed about $160ea which is pricey but I'd pay it again.

I've played here three times over the past few months during the construction. I wanted to give an update and my opinion of the course because it differs from the previous reviewers.

They are removing sod and placing wood chips in a lot of areas but most of the construction that will affect you is the bunkers. It appears they are redoing almost every bunker on the course. Not just filling them new sand but completely digging them up, re shaping and new drainage, and new sod. Even on 9 the lake has been emptied and they're ready to do something there. I can't wait to see what it looks like when they're done. They've added a new gigantic waste bunker on 13 that looks great. So this construction obviously affects the course. If you hit it in a bunker that is being worked on it will be a drop so the course is actually playing easier. I can't say the work they're doing bothered me that much. They probably should drop their rate some. The construction would surely bother some but for those who aren't bothered by that type of thing it is totally playable. All the holes.

Tee boxes were relatively lush and flat. Fairways quite green and when the greens are healed slow and true.

Played here for the first time on Monday Nov 9. Great really fun course that I would recommend. A lot of unique holes that offer a good test of golf in all facets of the game. Many well placed bunkers, dog legs, risk/reward holes, and sloping greens.

The tee boxes were level but beware that they are reseeding all the boxes so the blacks/blues/whites are all playing from the same place. Looks like they have them set up at the blue locations. I would expect they will be this way for a month or so. Almost every hole has well placed fairway bunkers that force you to place a well hit drive or use a fairway wood. Long hitters, 270+, should play from the blacks or this course will likely play much easier for you.

Fairways are starting to go dormant and combined with water restrictions they are more of a yellow green color. Your ball will run farther than you expect but the coverage was very good and playable. Rough was mowed pretty short and generally wasn't too penalizing.

Greens were fantastic and really fun. A lot of slope and many multi teared greens made each hole interesting. Pace was medium fast. I didn't find the greens that difficult mostly because I found they very easy to read.

I really recommend this course but I think the prime time rack rate is a little over priced, at least for my wallet. I'd play here monthly if it was 80 or 90. I guess it's still worth. $120 on occasion.

Played Sunday morning 7/26 at 930am. Oddly I had a tee time confirmation but it wasn't in their system when I arrived. Had no problem getting me out on time however. POP 4.25 hours. Seemed to be playing faster. Shot my best score on this course today. In fact was -1 after the front nine but managed to screw that up the back nine.

Conditions here are still outstanding. Best conditions on a public course <$100 in all of S. Cali hands down. Tee boxes are near immaculate. Mowed very short with excellent coverage. Only a few uneven lies on a few holes. Can't ask for much better. Very confidence inspiring on your drives.

Fairways are again excellent. Great coverage, mowed short, green with some hints of brown. I have noticed some browning out areas compared to when I last played here a month ago but not an issue at all.

Not much rough on this course. Most of it was in very good shape.

Greens complexes were very good as well. Sand good, nice thick rough around the greens. There were few aprons that they seem to be readying for seeding but they didn't come into play for me. Greens were very good, almost no ball marks. Medium speed as usual for Olivas.

Great course.
