I played on opening day @ 645am. We teed off right on time. Because of the opening day hoopla the lot was full and many eager golfers were in line to check in and pay for their tee time. When one of the staff learned that we were soon to be on the tee, he told us to go ahead and tee off. He took my card and went back to the trailer to complete the transaction while we were playing the first hole. At 645 it was calm and slightly overcast until around 10 am. I am a member at The Retreat and welcomed a new course in the area. I felt that the course was in excellent shape. It is varied enough to make it fun and challenging. If you have ever played at The Retreat you will know that every shot you make takes a lot of thought and precision and there isn't much room for being wild or having poor management skills. Dos Lagos has very wide open fairways for the most part. The tips on the card are very helpful and should be used the first time you play. I played the Blue tees and found them to be challenging enough for a single digit player. Several of the par 3's played over 200 yards and only one was less then 170. This course will mature nicely and in time will have plenty of trees to give it character. The course is definitely ready for play now other than more yardage markers. If you are a 18 or higher handicap I would suggest you play the white tees or you will be hitting woods on most of your approach shots. I expect to play here on mondays since my course is closed. Be patient for the club house and the other amenities and you will enjoy being out on a new fun course in the area. A note to Cheeseburger, you're welcome to contact me for an invite to play at The Retreat if you haven't already done so. I have enjoyed reading your reviews on courses in the area. Have fun and hit'em straight!

I agree with the previous post. I tend to try and fix the other ball marks on the green besides mine. This would have been an impossible task to do at Trilogy. I can't believe that anyone who is talented enough to hit a green that will cause a mark has not learned the etiquette of repairing one. This is not the course, this is simply an issue of people who do not respect the game. This is an awesome course and always fun to play. Despite the severe ball mark damage it still plays extremely true. My only complaint was getting a dud cart and having to walk it most of the last 5 holes. It couldn't make it up the steep grades with even one rider. We finally had someone show up at the tee on 18 when we called on 14. Treat yourself to a twilight round and enjoy the Clevelend National Forest in the setting sun!

The course is in nice shape but not the best that I have seen it. There's only a little bit of damage from the recent rains. I'd play there any day at $40 with a coupon. The sand traps were inconsistent. The fairway traps had fluffy deep sand while the greenside traps were bare and hard. The weather was perfect with very little wind. I think oak valley across the street may be in better shape right now. However, they may be the tops in the socal area at this time because of the recent downpours. The marshall seemed to be helpful in keeping things moving. Would recommend the drive to anyone in the LA area.

Played 12/25/04 in a shotgun format for $80.00. This was my first time playing here and I was more than impressed. The day was perfect even though my round was not the best I have had. The course was in top condition from tee box to green. The staff threw in a free lunch but we never saw any staff on the course the entire round. In fact we never waited once on any shot or tee box and two of us played the round in about 4 hours. I will be back to try and go a bit lower now that I have a general idea of the layout and greens. I'm sure I 'd play here more often if the green fee were a little lower. However, what I paid was worth the experience. I'd recommend it for anyone that keeps the ball in play most of the time. A driver is not always required for most par 4's under 400 yards. A well hit tee shot with a fairway wood or long iron will set you up for par most of the time. There are plenty of bunkers to contend with and smart club selection will keep you from logging high numbers. All in all a great course to play.

The course is in good condition but not as great as the legends is reported to be. The greens are firm and fast but a bit bumpy. The pace was the worse thing thought taking over 5 hours to play on a weekday morning. The weather was beautiful and the staff friendly. The construction going on now takes away from the serenity this place used to have.

Played 5/18. Course wide open and started at 9, off before noon. The course is in fair shape. The tee boxes are a joke for a course of this type. Would not pay more than $40 to play here in the future. If it were in better shape it would be a great place to play. Local knowledge on the greens is a must.

This was the first time on the north course. A very enjoyable experience. The greens were in great shape, the sand fluffy. and there was minimal waiting. Will start playing here more often as I am just down the road. Usually play at goose creek and eagle glen. In general had a more enjoyable experience here. The price is the best in the area for a well kept course.

used the golf q discount. course is in OK shape. the greens are slower than typical. biggest complaint is pace of play. if you're digging in the bushes after every shot you need to play from the red tees! hopefully the place will be in better shape when all the aeration is completed. they do 2 at a time. the greens are all so slow they may as well get them all done together so they'll play more consistently.

greens have plenty of ball mark damage and slower than typical. otherwise a great place to play. please remind your playing partners to repair their marks and maybe 1-2 others.

This is a great track especially if you enjoy putting on nice greens. I'll have to play there more often to learn to manage the course a bit better. Pace was OK but didn't seem like the course was real busy. The chili topped with cheese at the turn was a bomb. Looking forward to playing there again.

Course is in good shape. Would have been more enjoyable if the groups in front were a bit faster and repaired their ball marks. Would recommend that handicaps of 20+ play from the forward tees and not the gold and definitely not the tips.
