This is a beautiful course, well maintain and managed. The course was still very wet from the previous 2 days of heavy rain, so the marshalls patroled around keeping the carts on the path. The tee boxes were lush and leveled. The fairways were lush and well trimmed. The rough was well... rough but easy to hit out of and you won't lose your ball. The bunkers has good sand but pretty hard packed maybe due to the H2O. The greens were great - even after all the rain was still firm, smooth and rolled fast. This is a pretty open layout but get careless and it'll cost you strokes. If you get through the front nine in good shape, the back nine will be a breeze (except for the 12th, 650yds from the black tee). My friends and I were asking ourselves why we hadn't tried this course sooner and we all agreed that we'd definitely be back.
Played on 10/28, started around 1pm but barely finished. The course wasn't wide open but not narrow either. Nothing really spectacular and conditions were pretty decent. The greens were firm, fast & pretty smooth. The fairway was pretty lush but did have some bare and brown spots. This course didn't present too many challenges as long as you could hit the ball straight. We paid $53.00 (riding) which is kind of steep for this type of course at this time of day. There are more than a few courses nearby which are better and have better value. You could also take a drive into the IE and play a much better course for a much better price.
This is a very quirky little course. Our tee time was around 7am on 07/21 and we got on promptly. Although the course is short, it requires good club selection and ball placement. The greens were a little tricky and the view is very nice. This course is good for intermediate players but not for beginners. The playing conditions were good and the price is cheap (around $32 to ride depending on how you book).
Played on 07/15, tee time was at 3:15 but let us on at 2:30. It's a bargain at $24 to ride and the conditions were good with exception to the greens being very slow and inconsistent. It seems that the pace of play should be pretty good because it's not packed like it is in LA. The only problem was the twosome in front of us and the foursome in front of them. The 3 holes in front of them were empty but they didn't offer to let us play through. We had 5 but they were slower than us. We didn't see the Marshall the whole time we played which might be the problem. It's not that bad of a drive and the conditions and price is worth it.
$49 w/cart & GPS, 8:30am start was worth it if you don't mind the drive. This is a pretty nice course but kinda far. If you're nearby I suggest playing this course.
- Walked on at around 2:30pm on Saturday 06/23 no waiting. Worth it for $34 w/cart. The conditions were great, any problem areas were man-made (golfers). This is a wide open course but don't let it fool you. The rough looks short but when you dig in too deep your ball will just pop up and not go anywhere. Stay out of the bunkers or you won't have a good day. It's a great course for a great price that I would play again.
Arrived at around a quarter past 2pm on 05/11 after playing 18 holes at Indian Hills. There was a mini-tournament going on but the staff was very nice and helpful. They got us on without any wait. We played at a pretty brisk pace (6 min. ahead) according to the GPS on the cart, until we ran into the group two holes ahead of us. It wound up taking over 5 hours to finish. The overall conditions (fairways, roughs, bunkers, greens and landscaping) was very good. My friend played here a while back, told me that the conditions have improved dramatically. I really like this course and would recommend it to anyone. It's inexpensive, the service is great, conditions are great and close by - so I have to give it an "A".
First time at Indian Hills, 05/11/07. Called for a tee time the day before but didn't really have to, it was wide open. The staff was not overly friendly but the service wasn't bad. Please note that the rates posted on Greenskeeper.org is more accurate than the Indian Hills website. The price was great $36.00 to ride, the cart even had a cooler already half filled with ice. We teed-off at around 9am and finished around 1pm, not a bad pace considering we took a break after the 9th hole for a bite to eat. The fairway and rough were pretty lush with a few bare or brown spots but still very manageable. The greens were in fair condition & really quick, wtih the exception of a couple of holes where it was damaged (for reasons unknown). It wasn't a really difficult course but it wasn't easy either. The elevation changes were pretty interesting, with the 16th hole standing out in this regard. All-in-all I'd come back to this course because of the condition & price. From a scale of (A+ to F-), I give this course a "B+".
Called to book tee time, but we pretty much didn't have to. It was wide open........on a sunday, and for good reason. The course and facilities were terrible. Everything from the clubhouse to the range and the course. The people weren't really friendly either, no service with a smile here. Altough the Marshall was pretty cool. The pace of play was quick about 3 1/2 hours because nobody was there. We could've played each hole 2 or 3 times but why would we? Even when you hit a good shot, your next shot might be off DIRT! The fairway was like a middle-age man........balding. $40.00 to play, I won't play it again even for $5.00. Poorly run and in total disrepair. Pass this one up, the rating on this site was fair but should be graded to poor.
