Low rates have finally arrived in Las Vegas, so I took advantage of the $42 twilight rate for locals. The course was in good shape for the most part. The greens had been aerated in early May, so there was still some sanding evident, but they rolled smooth, if a little slow.
Temperature was in the mid-90s, not too hot yet, but still had to make sure to drink lots of water. There was no water on the course, but each cart has an ice chest filled with ice and 4 small water bottles.
Wind was not a major factor, which was a plus as this course is high on the hillside and can get some hellacious winds. The views of the strip are some of the best around.
Overall, a good round on a fun course.

Course is located on the coast, about an hour north of San Francisco. Just a beautiful setting, with almost every hole overlooking the ocean and the beautiful shoreline. The sound of barking sea lions from an offshore island accompanies you all round.
This a course that will stay with you long after your round. Each hole is unique, with some outstanding bunkering along the fairways and by the greens. The wind was blowing about 15 mph most of the time, which my playing partners (all locals) said was unusually calm. Trying to find a narrow fairway surrounded by foot-deep rough made for some challenging shots. But it was not unfair. The course did have some difficult holes, particularly the par 3s, but a good shot was rewarded.
Overall, one of my most enjoyable rounds in a long time.

The greens are still not in very good shape. Many bare, patchy areas. This is really unfortunate since they completely redid the greens last year. Other local courses do not have this problem, must be the greenskeeper's fault. With decent greens, this could return to being a nice layout. The price is certainly good, but currently it's not worth it.

Played on 10/16. Just coming out of overseeding. The fairways were in absolute great shape. The greens were still slow and a little sandy, but a couple weeks should make a big difference.
Played just after noon on a weekday, and it took 4 3/4 hours. The group ahead slowed down considerably after the turn. With each round of the beer cart, they got slower and slower. Aside from that, a great day on a very challenging course.

Course is just coming back from overseeding so the rough and fairways are cut higher thank normal, and there are still some bare patches. The greens ran surprisingly fast for this time of year. I would expect the course to be in great shape in about a month.
